Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Feel like he might be able to do a job for us.Wouldnt mind him to be honest

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

The thing is....it would be sad to see a manager sacked...
but he should never have got the job in the first place..
was always a backward step to Rafa...

But the Liverpool ex-board have only themselves to blame...
including the rabid media ...
they lifted Hodgson above the clouds....
ignored Dalglish ...
rejected Pellegrini, Deschamps...

and now it has all backfired...
and we fans have had to endure 6 months of this stuff...

I just hope NESV have some good news for tomorrow...
they have had enough time to find atleast a caretaker...
Hodgson has been serving up mediocrity ever since he came here.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Someone on Twitter just said multiple sources suggest he's gone. Who knows, but I'm expecting to wake up to a breaking news ticker on Sky Sports tomorrow.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

The thing is...there have been rumours of him being sacked a long
while ago....remember the Away match at Napoli.....
Rijkaard was favourite to become the new manager...

It did not happen.....

Until I see the press conference....I am not going to believe it...
I have been waking up everyday trying to see if we have got a new
manager....

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

FSG need to sack him today, or questions will start being asked about whether they are serious enough about our long-term future as they keep referring to it.

A bit surprised I woke up to find he hasn't gone already.

I just get the feeling that they have written off this season.
They were planning on replacing him in the summer with a younger
manager....hoping that Hodgson would steady the ship... (almost sunk now)
and they may have to put in a caretaker....which they do not want
to do....
If they wanted to put Dalglish....it would have happened long ago..
if they did put Dalglish in, it would be difficult to
replace him with their younger manager....if for some
reason Dalglish improved the results.....

They will not be able to put anyone else as caretaker....why
would anyone want to come in for 6 months ?

It is sad....but I think FSG have found their man...and he is not
available now....hence they may let Hodgson stay without complicating
things too much by appointing Dalglish now...

But our season has gone to the dogs......and we fans suffer.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

That telegraph article makes sense. We are very likely to lose against Utd irrespective of who is in charge so might aswell lay the blame on Hodgson for that aswell.

Anyone think Deschamps is already sorted for the summer (maybe a link with Comolli)?

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Can you really see us still in the Premier League in the summer? And our better players wanting to stick around after such a dismal season and facing up to a second season in a row without any European matches?

There's a logic in leaving Roy in charge for the United game for the reasons said in the article, but then they're also writing off the FA cup as well by doing that.

That is the sad part about keeping Roy in charge....the amount
of damage it will do to the club...

Problem is....if they dont have anyone lined up...then we are stuck
with Roy.....
I read somewhere that they are now considering a caretaker....
their initial plan of keeping Roy till the summer is backfiring big time
and fast...

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

What a dreadfull performance...rock bottom is reached now?
And once again Hodgson is the scapegoat.
Anybody noticed Liverpool's "defense": Johnson, Kyriakos, Skrtel are simply not good enoug for a big club like Liverpool.

What's wrong with Agger? IMO he's Liverpool's best defender, oh and bring back Hypia instead of Kyriakos and Skrtel.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

The tactics seem to be getting worse and worse. Couldn't believe the difference in the way the players are thinking on the pitch last night. Look at them same players last year, it's shocking.

Might put £10 on Roy to go next in the prem, if they're even taking bets now.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

#lfc set to recieve $695,000 from FIFA for the number of players and their time spent at the WC. Only Barca, Bayern and Chelsea earned more.

Doesn't mean that much really.

Skrtel, Kyrgiakos, Jovanovic, Carragher, Joe Cole, Babel, Poulson and Glen Johnson went.

VDS, Berbatov, Valencia, Nani, Rio Ferdinand, Rafael, Scholes, Vermaelen, Nasri, Chamakh, Arshavin, Walcott and Wilshere didn't.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Just seen Hodgson backed by McManaman, Barnes and Keegan. Surprising to say the least.

None of them would get a job managing anywhere.....no credibility...
just blind support of their fellow englishman...

If Rafa were still in charge today.....they would have slaughtered him.

So as expected Hodgson lives to fight another day.....he cannot probably
believe how lucky he is .....
man even...Allardyce was sacked at Blackburn....those poultry owners
seem to have more urgency than ours...

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Well to me it makes perfect sense to let Hodgson continue this season.
It's a lost season anyhow and as long as Liverpool does not go down (which will not happen, every neutral sees that) nothing catastrophical can happen. Start slowly rebuilding a new team from january on and start searching for a good manager.
Next summer will be a summer without major tournament so the new manager has all the time to work with his new team.

The problem is that all fans are emotional and impatient.
In the long term a season without European football will be a blessing in disguise. Who is waiting for a season in the Euro Leaugue? Nest year Liverpool needs a cracker of a premiership season and European football will only be a distraction.

A year without European football is less catastrophic for Liverpool than a season without CL for Chelsea (in that case Chelsea might loose forever contact with the top 4, as they don't have Liverpool's tradition and fan base).

Don't know about Macca, but the record of the others means it's not really "backing". If they say he is good, then you know you are f$#ked :D

Forgot about the whole bullshit and lies Hodgson spouted about Rafa and Kenny. Shocking he got away with that from the press.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

maybe they are looking for him to do the decent thing and resign so they don't have to spend millions terminating him

+1 Especially agree with Agger.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Hodgson will never ever resign.....
he himself states that this is a big opportunity..
a recognition of the 35 years of good management he has had...

He will never ever get an opportunity like this again...
and his England chance has also most likely gone unless
the media just blame Rafa for this season ....
...but Redknapp may be the successor for Cappello.

Gerd...I see your point....the owners may keep Hodgson..
I can't see us getting relegated....BUT you never know...
Leeds were never too good to be relegated....
Hodgson did that to a good Blackburn team...
it can happen to us....if we get some major injuries.

Surely there needs to be a big clearout in the summer
starting with Hodgson, and getting in a younger hungrier
manager and players.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

From Dan Roan on BBC....
Liverpool unable to confirm if Hodgson press conference will go ahead as planned tomorrow afternoon.

Sounds pretty ominous to me. If I was the press officer, I'd have said that unless I said otherwise, I'd still expect the conference to go ahead. That would pretty much stop speculation but saying they can't confirm ... well, that's just going to increase speculation.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Inter fans' banner at San Siro thanking Benítez: "A sincere thanks from us, the only ones who always backed you. And now full faith in Leo"

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Sacking Roy Hodgson is not enough for Liverpool's Spanish stars

• Torres and Reina want high-profile manager
• Money must also be available for transfers

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/06/sacking-roy-hodgson-spanish-liverpool?CMP=twt_gu

Why do the media always make this about Spain or England...
those who support Hodgson ...the likes of Rush, Barnes, Keegan,
all probably want a British manager to succeed...and hence
will not blame Hodgson......even if the club is decimated.
They will only speak up if we are relegated...

whereas the media paint it such that the non-English want Hodgson
out..as if it were something to do with his nationality
rather than his crap tactics.
Hodgson is not wanted because of his tactics, losing mentality
and lack of experience at the top 4 level...not because he is English.
