I'm happy with most of these:

Hyypia £3m

Hamann £8m
Riise £4.6m
Kirkland £6m
Dudek £4.8m
Baros £3.6m
Finnan £3.5m
la Tallec £3m
Sinama Pongolle £3m
Kewell £5m

How much did rudolph buy Barthez, and Forlorn for?

Owen is out of our UEFA Cup game this week, he still hasnt fully recovered from the injury he picked up a few weeks back.

Heskey will be in the limelight again this week, lets hope he comes up with the goods

really hope houllier plays the "second" team rather than hyypia, henchoz, gerrard, kewell and co.we need them really fresh this sunday.last thing we need is another "we were tired"excuse from houllier.

well, the UEFA CUP is just as important. Here's hoping we'll win both games.

not really bothered bout the uefa cup, poor man's CL IMO.be much better off if we give squad players the chance to play in the uefa cup until we make it to the quarters.if we make it that is......

Well hopefully we should be getting Boumsong and Rivaldo in January. Heard rumours that we could be possibly getting Rui Costa as well but I don't think this will happen.
I also think that gerard is losing his marbles. He is having troubles figuring out who he wants at left-back. He is having selection headaches over selecting Riise or Traore. HELP!!

Even a Riise playing at 50% is better than Traore. Wake up Gerard

1-0 to us at half time. We arent doing too bad considering we are playing on a cabbage patch

well, Soccernet's review of the game has made heroes out of Liverpool for coming away with the tie... the writer certainly seemed to be bleeding mighty red.

Any unbiased opinions of the match? If Heskey was so great as Soccernet claimed... why was he removed in the 65th minute?

Thanks.

Manchester United have been dealt a massive injury blow with the news that key player and record signing Mike "F*cking" Riley is suffering from F.A.conspiracy syndrome and will not be so easily bribed ahead of sunday's clash at Anfield.Alex "Thewholeworldisagainstus(whichIhastentoaddistrue)"Ferguson was hoping to have Mike or Mickey as the other squad members call him, available for selection but this was dashed when Mike ruled himself out after falling victim to this imaginary illness.Mike "F*cking" Riley or "C*nt" as he's more affectionatly known on Merseyside had a superb game in the reverse fixture at Old Toilet last year when he sent Hyppia off for "Having a silly grin on his face in a public place" and had 2 great assists for Van Nistlerooy's 2 goals against the red men from Merseyside. He was later awarded man of the match from tv pundit and Manutd arse-licker Andy Gray.Riley was unavailable for comment but Van Nislerooy summed up how much he'll be missed on sunday when he paid this tribute to "F*cking" Riley."He's the best strike partner I've ever had,his instinct for pointing to the spot when I trip on a blade of grass is second to none"

DJIMI TRAORE was a hero on the rain-lashed fields of Romania, leaving Liverpool with one foot in the UEFA Cup third round.

Traore broke his goal duck — on a night more suited to the feathered variety — at the 67th time of asking as Gerard Houllier’s men ground out the gutsiest of draws.

They have enjoyed some memorable balmy evenings on some of Europe’s biggest stages — but when it comes to earning a result with true grit, this was up there with the best of them.

Now all they must do is hold their nerve at Anfield in three weeks against a side yet to win away from home this season to move another step closer to a record fourth triumph in this competition.

Full-back Traore pounced midway through the first half with a wicked shot that Steaua keeper Vasiuli Hamutovski was never going to save on a surface like this.

Yes, Claudiu Raducanu did haul Steaua level on 69 minutes to give Houllier’s side an uncomfortable finale — but that added to their resolve not to end this first leg trailing.

Emile Heskey ran his socks off up front, Danny Murphy and Steven Gerrard marshalled the midfield like lions, while the entire back four coped superbly on a treacherous night.

And behind them all, keeper Jerzy Dudek provided stonewall resistance when Steaua did find a way in behind the defence.

Houllier voiced his concerns about the pitch before he even left England and there were very real fears that the incessant rain would see it postponed.

It was a surface that even the donkeys at Blackpool would have turned their noses up at, and the small army of yellow sou’westered groundsmen will rarely have worked as hard to earn their money.

And all that without even mentioning a set of opponents who currently sit proudly atop their domestic league table in their assault on a 22nd title.

Steaua may be a shadow of the side which lifted the European Cup 17 years ago and the subsequent heady days of Georgi Hagi but they still represented as tough opponents as Liverpool could expect.

Houllier’s men kicked off looking assured and just got better as the half went on, with Gerrard seemingly on a mission to cover every inch of the pitch.

El-Hadji Diouf’s pace was always going to pose problems on a slippery top and he had a crucial hand in Traore’s goal, after a marvellous ball from Murphy set him free on the right.

His cross was turned behind and, from Gerrard’s short corner, Traore cut inside, slipped and picked himself up to curl a fantastic low shot into the bottom corner.

Three minutes later the tie could have been all over.

Gerrard was again the provider with a wonderfully timed through ball for Harry Kewell.

He toed it wide of keeper Hamutovski but, although his shot was going in, Mirel Radoi slid back to clear.

But then suddenly, horribly, it nearly went so wrong for the Merseysiders.

Gerrard’s back-pass stopped dead in one of the many pools of water. Raducanu, the man who put paid to Southampton in the last round, was on it like a shot but Dudek stood firm to block his point-blank strike magnificently.

Steaua’s best effort before then came when Diouf earned a yellow card for upending Pompiliu Stoica and Marian Aliuta whipped a free-kick two yards over the bar.

But, as the half went on, Liverpool’s tireless running seemed to take its toll and Bucharest so nearly made the most of it.

First, Stoica’s rasping drive skidded off the surface too quickly for Raducanu at the far post.

Then Daniel Oprita found space with a neat turn but again Dudek showed smart reactions to get down quickly and smother the danger.

And, when Aliuta drove in an effort from fully 35 yards, the Liverpool keeper seemed to dive to his left almost in slow motion to save.

Traore was almost the unwitting provider at the wrong end, when his clearance struck Raducanu but fortunately spun a yard wide.

But it was not all backs to the wall stuff, as Riise sent a header fizzing wide and then followed up with a low shot that Hamutovski blocked.

Yet just as Liverpool seemed to be in control, Steaua conjured up a leveller as the pitch finally played its part.

Substitute Adrian Pitu’s through-ball beat three sliding defenders and this time Raducanu made no mistake.

Seven minutes later it was within an ace of being even worse but Dudek strained every sinew to fingertip Dorel Mutica’s scorching volley on to the crossbar.

Liverpool were clinging on now as the conditions got worse, if that was possible. And when Dumitru turned Traore and found Adrian Neaga, the Steaua substitute somehow headed over from six yards.

Defeat then would have been cruelty as extreme as the conditions.

Liverpool have produced more emphatic displays — but rarely have they delivered one quite as gutsy.

DREAM TEAM STAR MAN

JERZY DUDEK (Liverpool). Biggest hero on a night of red-shirted heroes.

this might be old news but did anyone know that we actually had a 2.5 mill bid for shearer rejected by freddy sheperd?this happened before the season got started.the weird thing is bobby robson was willing to let shearer go which left alan very unhappy obviously.looks like houllier is still looking for his "mcallister".....

Liverpool and Tottenham have held secret talks with Rivaldo's agent, claim reports today.

The London Evening Standard claims that Carlos Arrini held talks with both clubs in London last weekend to try and hammer out a potential deal.

In an attempt to reduce the wage bill, AC Milan have told the 31-year-old that he can leave in January on a free transfer if he wants to so Arrini is naturally touting his player around Europe.

Liverpool have been linked with the Brazilian for months and were initially said to be interested in a loan move but the Italian giants later revealed that he could leave for good.

Reports have previously claimed that Rivaldo would take a pay cut to join Liverpool but Gerard Houllier said at the time that he wasn't interested.

The KopTalk Insider revealed details of a rendezvous in London last weekend so it would appear that the Reds are considering other attacking options despite heavy interest in Djibril Cisse.

As usual it's all speculation at the moment. We've encouraged you to monitor the Rivaldo speculation for some time and would urge you to continue consider doing so - especially while negotiations between Liverpool and SFX continue regarding Michael Owen's future.

and baros is said to be leaving, overmars is linked with us as well and here's the big one................
Anelka to leave Man City for Man Utd!
can really see that happenin as demento just got a 20mill kitty and anelka has said he wants CL football which city will never be involved in.might just have a f*ckin heart attack if that f*ckin happens!

oi wait, if nic anelka wants CL football, why not leave england? for if thats the problem, why not go back to highbury? where he did soo well?? im comin from a man utd supporter's POV, not that we dont need him. the gunners are a perfectly capable side of goin to the CL every season, obviously its a matter of takin on the rest of the world from there... but anelka at old trafford wud be great!

Maybe they can get the world's oldest monkey (M.Keown) off their wage bills! N Cygan, biggest joke... But i say its a draw between the 2 gaints. Over here in asia, Liverpool and Man Utd are the biggest teams. So we r goin to have a good time during the match in the PUBS!!!

ljunberg can stay...

Wiltord??? Wiltord, whos that? ;)

I think Wiltord is getting a start against Inter. :l

If Anelka could get to highbury then that would be great, cause the through passes that Anelka is looking for is not coming w/ Capt America and Fowler. Capt. America is just so prone to injury and Fowler isnt the same Fowler anymore. If Keegan would start Wanchope more then maybe Anelka would get the passes and attention he wanted. Wanchope is a playmaker and a scorer, he can also handle the ball well, head the ball well, and he has some LOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGG legs... so why wont Keegan start him? Right when Wanchope came on for Fowler in the Groclin 1st leg UEFA cup game, things started happening. Wanchope had several chances, and created several chances, but he had came on too late...therefore the game ended in a draw. I know Keegan saw something there, so I hope he starts to put Wanchope on the pitch earlier than has been doing.

Just imagine, Henry and Anelka up front, the two frenchies, just showing that french flare, giving ManUre the well needed stomping they deserve.

C'mon on back to Highbury Anelka. :)

Big game tomorrow and after last years match at Anfield I can only see us winning it. We are more determined than we have ever been to beat Man U and it looks as if Owen will be back in the side so thats a real boost

Bring em on

One more thing, Traore is 900-1 to score the first goal, well worth a quid ;)
