Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Liverpool will be back next season with "This is our year, I can feel it, our new signings are amazing etc etc.";)

C'mon don't think the season is over for liverpool ,you're just 9pts ahead(and they have a game in hand) and there is a long way before June.Every thing can happen,for the moment you have been injury less(except Rooney)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lets move on lads . . .

Who have you lot got next in the league? What teams do you reckon will feature in the Carling Cup (youths or first-teamers?).

and Scholes, Neville, Carrick, Saha, Silvestre, Park! :lol: I do agree though, anything can and will happen. :)

scholes=ok agree with you
Neville=has been injured since April
Carrick,saha,sylvestre and Park= are not regular in your first 11, so it's not the same thing/impact if Ronaldo or ferdinand would be injured

Re: Liverpool Thread

* The Chelsea goal was VERY lucky, and just our luck lately at times.

* What the hell was Crouch thinking?! Without question, it was a red card.

* Why are our DC's being told to punt everytime instead of looking for the short pass first? I thought it was just Carragher and Hyppia but even Hobbs is doing it (though it could be nerves for him). Very annoying.

* Odd decision to take off Babel when he was the player most likely to score.

* Voronin is useless.

* Sissoko is useless.

* Mikel is a horrible bastard. Everytime we've played Chelsea and he's there he falls around like he's been shot, or proceeds to try and murder our players (I'm thinking Alonso).

* Why weren't Torres or Kuyt at least on the bench?

Re: Liverpool Thread

thats the difference between us and the other top 3 this season. A mishit Rooney shot, a deflected Lampard goal, and a dodgy Chelsea penalty.

No doubt some one will come in and call me bitter etc rather than actually look at the facts.

PAH

not too concerened. Chelsea played their first eleven and struggled against ten reserve players.

Sissoko is indeed useless atm. Must have been the injuries.

That's right, it's got nothing to do with Liverpool not being good enough?

:lol:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Didn't watch the game, but don't really care about the Carling Cup.

How were Lucas and Alonso?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Both were really good in the first half then Alonso came off in the second and we fell apart, Lampard scored a deflector then Crouch lost it and that was that, overall the better team won.

Totally agree there Mo, and seeing as i hate you both , I've no axe to grind.Chelsea did play a stronger 11 ,and so they should they spent a fucking fortune on their squad but you still had a few starters playing.On the plus side your kepper Itandje ?? looked good but that Voronin porno star, where the fuck did you get him from?? does he ever get any shots on target?

Re: Liverpool Thread

To be fair, we hardly had a reserve team out. Most of our players play regularly in the Prem (Carra, Arbeloa, Lucas, Sissoko, Babel, Voronin, Crouch etc). Hobbs did well considering.

Voronin is shocking, really. He just doesn't bring anything useful to our team that makes him stand out.

So you dont agree its ever so fine margins that swing a match either way? We were on for three points at home to Chelsea until they were gifted a pen to bail them out. The united match was tight as both teams cancelled each other out - only a mishit shot and cheeky tap in was the difference. last night practically a fringe eleven took on Chelseas first 11 and lost after a deflected goal and a sending off.

Havent seen anyone in the top four murder us yet this season with fast flowing killer football with probably only the last 10 minutes at ho,e to Arsenal when we lost Masch and Alonso to injury and had a right back in midfield.

If my Aunt had bollocks she'd be my Uncle, stop grasping at if's and but's. Think it's time you took off your red tinted goggles mate.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Antred is right in what he says about the three games though, NSH. We always compete against the top four teams, we've never been hammered by them and we do seem to be having some dodgy luck this season.

Hopefully it'll come around and even itself out though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not that bothered abou the carling cup. I thought mo was actually half decent yesteraday, although I was judging him by his crap standards of this season. Managed to beat quite a few players at times and retain possesion. Its just when he gets anywhere near the oppo penalty area he hasnt got a clue and the attack breaks down.

Alonso was lookign good, especially toghether with Lucas. Lucas had some really nice simple touches/passes up front and was the one that made most of the chances by just playing it simple. Guess he reminds me a bit fo fabregas. He doesnt run much or is very physical but he's always ont he move making space for himself and keeps the team ticking over with simple but effective passes. Lucas looks like he could follow those footsteps for us. He showed what we lacked last sunday, and thats a cool head in the fianl 3rd. Also nearly scored but cech made a good save.

I actually thought liverpool were the slightly better team in the first half and looked the more dangerous. Chelsea's main chance came from bad play from hobbs, ours was down to good passing and attacking.

Second half chelsea stepped up the pace but even then it was still fairly even. Untill that prick scored and celebrated as if he had just hit a wonder goal. Tw@t. Then Crouch made a fool of himself with that "tackle" and the game was pretty much over after that. Although even then you wouldt have thought chelsea were a man more as they still didnt create much and liverpool had some half threats.

Agree with Antred, however you also make your own luck to some degree. Manu continually managing to sneak a win at anfield isnt a one off and shows the quality / mentality that you need to become champions. Chelsea have it aswell with "fortunate" goals being scored quite regularly. Thats probably the main difference atm between those two and liverpool and arsenal.

Re: Liverpool Thread

With january looming it might
be goodbye to sissiko and crouch.

Voronin? if only the scouts in Germany had
a look at Santa Cruz instead...

On the plus side Lucas comes on strong again.

Why is it red tinted? Didnt you watch the matches? Were we outplayed?outclassed?

the answer is no.

Where we slip up is with our mentality in the league, slip ups to crap opposition and the lack of being able to bounce back from a setback.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I would agree. The difference between the top 4 is really the mentality.

Good to see Lucas play well, I had heard a lot about him, and was really glad when he came Winning Brazilian Player of the Year is some achievement, considering the huge amount of talent that comes from there to Europe. Lucas seems to remind me a bit of Kaka in his early days. Kaka too didn't have many tricks, but he kept it simple, and kept it calm in the middle. The only difference is that Kaka was a bit more offensive minded, and obviously, he's has much more quality now.

Saturday is going to really, really TOUGH. Portsmouth away are a brilliant team.

In other words, you're not good enough. Stop clutching at straws, admit defeat and move on. Nothing worse than a football fan with the mentality of "They won but they didn't beat us blah blah blah." It's boring. You lost to Reading. You lost to Man United. You lost to Chelsea. Move on mate. :)

Not outplayed but beaten, you got the same out of the united game as you did the reading one. same end result.

youve just answered your own question though. We are being berated for being losers but the margin of deafeat is very, very fine. Once that isnt the case, youll see a turnaround - and thats what you lot have to worry about.

I bet you didnt sit there sunday watching the game, not worrying Liverpool were going to score where you? And thats the difference. Years ago United old side would have put us to bed iwth a clear confidence. they were a feared side - Keane, RVN, Rooney,Scholes, Giggs etc

Just trying to put this myth to bed that we cant compete just because a little msifortune has come our way in these fixtures. :)

No answer my post properly instead of just saying "nah-nah-nah " or the equivelent?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Antred there is no reasoning with you mate, the red tinted specs are glued to your face. And us for us being "kids", I have been following the game for more than 20 years so I am more than entitled to an opinion. :)
