Re: Liverpool Thread

Smicer, Biscan and Pellegrino have all been shot. That is just a joke obviously, shooting would be too good for them.

They are however no longer at the club

Benitez reveals Fergie note

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has revealed he received a rather bizarre congratulatory note from Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson after his side's UEFA Champions League success.

The Spaniard explained he had been inundated with correspondence following his team's dramatic triumph in Istanbul last month, but had been left slightly bemused by Ferguson's offering.

Speaking to Marca, he stated: "I received congratulations from people all over England and Spain.

"Ferguson sent me a very strange one with a tactical evaluation - on his personalised paper - of Liverpool's performance in the whole competition, and particularly the final."

Re: Liverpool Thread

LOL @ ferguson at least hes got some sportsmanship unlike mourhinho

Re: Liverpool Thread

Looks like Finnan's been arrested for a killing and old man while driving recklessly. the incident happened back in january and the man died a few weeks later. Meanwhile Arsenal's van Persie is arrested for rape in Holland, and George Best is questioned regarding an alleged sexual incident involving a 13 year old girl. . . . looks like footballers are picking up all the NBA and NFl's nasty habits. :/

Re: Liverpool Thread

Its the close season, they obviously need to do something to keep themselves entertained ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

News just in...

Only 4 Teams from England will qualify for the 2005/06 Champions League,
those teams are:

Chelsea
Arsenal
Man Utd
Everton

However there will be a special dispensation for Liverpool FC, the current
holders of the cup, see below for details.

Liverpool WILL be allowed into the competition next Season, they can by-pass
the qualifying round, and go straight into the group section.

Only the top two from each group will be allowed to progress to the next
stages however. See below for further details.

If Liverpool FC finish 3rd in their respective group they will be allowed to
continue to the next stages, the knock-out rounds, because they are the
holders of the cup. All teams who enter the knock-out stages will be
eliminated if they are beaten over the two legs, however, if Liverpool FC
get beat over the 2 games in the knock-out stages, they will be allowed to
continue in the competition because they are the current champions, and have
won the cup an impressive five times.

This rule has been changed to make the Champions League a more fair and just
competition, this rule will be valid throughout the knock-out stages, and
will not, NOT be effective for the final, however.

If Liverpool get into next seasons final they may or may not be allowed to
win/lose, even if they get beat by the other team, but in the event of a
tie, or if they score more goals than their opponents, they will be allowed
to lift the famous trophy, no extra time or penalties will be allowed, in
the unfortunate event of the other team winning, we will again sit and
adjudicate on whether or not this will be allowed, as they are the holders,
our committee should grant them the cup, as we have granted them a place in
the 2005/06 competition.

So congratulations go out to Liverpool FC, champions of Europe, 1977, 78,
81, 84, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 etc?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh no, Stevie G ran into Guti on a beach in Ibiza. Who whould have thought it eh, a couple of footballers holidaying in the same place at the same time!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Guti just said that he'd like to move to the Ppremiership and preferably to Liverpool.
And he would be happy to move as long as it benefits Madrid.

Smells like a evil plan to bring Gerrard to Real Madrid.

Jesus Christ, what could be worse than running into Guti lol, the guy dates transsexuals ffs! They've taken that fact off of UEFA's website, I wonder why :p

Re: Liverpool Thread

Would have been nice to have a video go along with that.

Re: Liverpool Thread

 I bet Fergie would really love to know how Benitez works.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I am ignoring all the Steven Gerrard stories at the moment and was sick of every commentator mentioning that last season would be the last time we saw him in a Liverpool shirt.

I know there is fuck all happening in the world of footy at the minute but surely constantly linking a player with a move is pointless

They do this to unsettle the player and eventually get the player to actually consider the move. You lot should worry that Gerrard doesnt get any ideas from these newspapers.

found the real letter on football365

Dear Rafa,

Well done you jammy bloody b***ard.

No, really I mean that. Really, really well done. I'd say 'congratulations' but it's too difficult to make myself understood through gritted teeth. Come to think of it, it's just too difficult to make myself understood.

No, really well done. Or at least Milan were.

Let me just say that one more time in case you don't believe me - well done you lucky thieving b***ards.

There was nothing I wanted more than to see you cheat, sorry Rafa of course I mean 'beat' AC Milan. I had a drink straight after the final whistle and, to be honest, I haven't stopped drinking since...

I think that sums up exactly how I feel about your 'victory'.

(Sorry, by the way, about the red wine stain).

Anyway, Rafa, because I'm a knight of the realm and because I have half a bottle to finish before Cathy wants me in bed, I thought I'd treat you to my tactical analysis of each of your Champions League matches...

15-Sep-04 H Monaco W 2-0
Verdict: Youse were lucky.

28-Sep-04 A Olympiakos L 0-1
Verdict: A fair result.

19-Oct-04 H Deportivo D 0-0
Verdict. More than youse deserved. Lucky.

03-Nov-04 A Deportivo W 1-0
Verdict: Youse only won with an own goal so that doesnae count.

23-Nov-04 A Monaco L 0-1
Verdict: Result reflected the play. Except youse were lucky to get nil.

08-Dec-04 H Olympiakos W 3-1
Verdict: Youse lucky b***ards. That Gerrard goal was a mis-hit (he's rubbish, BTW, but I'll take him off your hands because I like you).

22-Feb-05 H Bayer Leverkusen W 3-1
Verdict: Youse were lucky there.

09-Mar-05 A Bayer Leverkusen W 3-1
Verdict: Youse were very lucky there.

05-Apr-05 H Juventus W 2-1
Verdict: Youse lost the second half 1-0. Lucky.

13-Apr-05 A Juventus D 0-0
Verdict: Who are Juventus anyway? I've never heard of them. Who have they
ever played?

27-Apr-05 A Chelsea D 0-0
Verdict: We would have beaten them.

03-May-05 H Chelsea W 1-0 (1-0)
Verdict: Youse were lucky. That Luis Garcia 'goal' was like the one at OT from that Mendes chap - not over the line.

My memory of the final is a wee bit blurry but I do know that youse were lucky.

You'd never see the great Manchester United winning a Champions League final after being outplayed by the opposition and making a sneaky comeback.

But you're only Liverpool, so I suppose youse have different standards to us. Did I mention that we've won the Premiership eight times? And with the referees conspiring against us (not like youse lot - when was the last time anyone got a penalty at Anfield?).

I also noticed that all your goals came from set-pieces. The only one that didn't was a mis-hit. So that doesnae count.

There's no way my Manchester United would win a Champions League final in such an undignified manner against superior opposition. No way at all.

I also liked your canny trick of starting with Harry Kewell. Aye, clever that. He's not your player so you thought you'd demonstrate on the biggest stage of all what a complete waste of money he was. Youse a f***ing genius, Rafa.

I bet Gerard Houllier feels stupid for signing him now. I said as much at the time.

I hope I've been some help - and remember, I'll take that boy Gerrard off your hands in exchange for Kleberson. He's a World Cup winner, you know...

Sir Alex Ferguson (you can call me Sir Alex)
