Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Thank GOD for a fantastic result.....we were defensively very sound....
only the 2nd half being a bit tense...but in the end Juventus just could
not do enough to beat us.
We deserved it over the 2 legs thanks to the 1st half performance at Anfield.

I am glad we got Chelsea and not Bayern, because it's better to play
well-known opposition.
Having lost 3 times to the Blues, I have a feeling this time we will
be able to beat them. Cisse, Alonso are back from injuries.
Hope Hamann is also back soon....then it could be anyone's game.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great job Liverpool -- was on the edge of my seat for that last few minutes. There was a feeling of impending doom that Juventus would pull it off, and that would have sucked.

However, the final absolutely has to be Chelsea v. Milan, IMO.

I hope Liverpool win it and I hope Everton finish fourth in the league and lose their spot in the champions league!

i'd fuckin love that, how bitter would those twats be then

Re: Liverpool Thread

I fell asleep, what happened?

;)

Seriously though what a great result for us. We kept an apparently attacking team to less than 5 shots on their own ground, the longer the game went on the more desperate they got. Great to see Alonso play for the full 90 minutes and Cisse come on for the last 15. Chelsea will be a tough game but I love what Rafa said when asked if it will be like a Prem game or a European game, "I hope it will be like a European game as we do much better in Europe!"

I genuinely feel you have a chance tomorrow. What if you can keep it tight until halftime or even score first? It will be up hill for Juve then and if Cisse comes on you can use his pace on the break. If your defence play a blinder then I think you have a great chance.

See, told you that you had a chance. Great result boys. Thoroughly deserved too. The semi should be great as well. Over 2 legs anything can happen.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Congrats guys, although I honestly feel Chelsea have a bye into the final now.

Never saw any of the game, but must've been a good defensive display, although Juventus haven't been too lethal of late.

And without Stevie G too, from the radio I heard Igor Biscan played well.

I'm a Man Utd fan but I feel proud to call Liverpool rivals now.

Congrats Lads.

And the best of luck against Chelsea.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd like to congratulate all the Liverpool players, Rafa Benitez and his staff and every Liverpool supporter on this forum and in the world.

Very, very happy with the outcome Liverpool deserved to go through over the two legs although I was very disappointed with Juve they were poor but also not taking anything away from the Liverpool players they really out did themselves.

...With Xabi Alonso and surprisingly Cisse back I think we can beat Chelski they robbed us twice already and were very fortunate in Cup final.

I pray to God we knock 'em out regardless of whether we win the Champions League or not :)

I think thats harsh!! Anyone who beats Juve over 2 legs deserves respect.

Yep, sorry that did sound bad. I do think when the two go up against each other though Chelsea have more to offer than Pool going forward and Chelsea's defence is better for me and has to cope with a less effective forward line.

I hope Liverpool beat Chelsea though.

No shit?? Did those 1978 dates tally with the events this year? I hope its not just a coincidence and Liverpool really wins in Istanbul. Wow that would be unbelivable. I'd die happy.

Re: Liverpool Thread

this has been one of the most emotional 10 days for LFC in the past 16 years, a lot of old memories have come flooding back with the 2 games against juventus, i feel we've done our best to try to heal the wounds still felt by the famlies of those who died, and i can understand those who are still angry, they have every right to be as nobody should die at a game of football

now it's the 16th anniversary of Hillsborough and my thoughts are with the families of the 96 who lost their lives

From Soccernet:

Allegedly Benitez once described himself as a 'loner with a laptop' due to the amount of time he spent alone masterminding tactics on a computer - he is obsessed by football

:-k Theres so much you can do with a Laptop... Championship Manager or PES maybe?
