Liverpool Thread

i´m not worried about our transfers at all so far...we will see a lot of movement..

i´m happy for Wisdom, he will get a proper team to gain more experience..

we have added young and good midfielder in Emre Can and one of best technically skilled English national Lallana, also another choice in attack Lambert, a type of player we missed last season.

Many players will go and about 6 more apparently will be bought.. i trust Rodgers and LFC is i think more about making superstars not buying them. Suarez wasn´t a superstar as he is now when we bought him

I think we will buy smart to make our team depth better and so that every player has a competition for places..

Excellent post

Let's how much you paid for Marko. €25M that are being reported is too low.

Good luck for him. Hope for a brilliant career.

Yeah, the value is too low, specially because we will make other sales this year, so to sell him, we need to sell him higher. 30m with performance clauses of 5m would be the minimum for me. However, we only have half of his rights, so the third party may have pressured us to sell. Him coming to us was a bit of obscure business.

He's super talent. He's the potential to be truly a superstar, and I don't say those things lightly. His ability to run with the ball glued to his feet is amazing, similar to Robben. He's great technique and can play multiple positions. Expect great things for him in the future.
But don't expect him in this season to be a week in week out best player. He needs to work on his fitness and stamina to be effective on EPL. He takes to many plays off. And need to grow his muscular mass. Too skinny, but he’s only 20.

And just that don't thing I'm bullshiting you. Just take a look on this goal. How many players can do that!

:SMUG: He's a success, 2nd best Portuguese goalscorer behind Ronaldo.

I might have been hasty about Bony, anyone got his stats then for past two seasons?

Bony is an extremely odd one if you look at his stats.

You'd swear he was absolutely terrible but then he scored 25 goals for Swansea last year.

I've never known anyone to be so lazy, so unwilling to do anything and seemingly terrible to put up numbers like he does.

That said, because of this lack of movement and effort I think he'd be a terrible buy for Liverpool. Would fit into their team worse than Carroll did.

Yep, from the matches I've seen of him (which is limited) all he seems to do is collect the ball near the edge of the area and belt it. A bit like Hasselbaink really. Not especially fast but strong and can really hit the ball.

He can offer a lot more than that. He used to play as an attacking midfielder, so he could play as the second striker to link with Sturridge or Lambert.
I would prefer us to look for another winger/attacking midfielder but I don't think Bony would be a bad plan B.

great first interview, good luck to him :)

Lazar Markovic has set his sights on maintaining a unique personal record by helping Liverpool go one better in the Barclays Premier League this season.

The 20-year-old forward completed his transfer from Benfica on Tuesday after signing a long-term deal at Melwood.

He arrives with an already impressive CV, which boasts league title winning medals in each of his four professional seasons so far with Partizan and Benfica.

Moments after putting pen to paper on his contract, Markovic sat down with Liverpoolfc.com at the club's training complex to speak about his switch to Merseyside.

Lazar, welcome to Liverpool Football Club. How do you feel to have signed for this club?

I am very happy that I have joined such a great club. I hope that I will fulfil the expectations of the supporters, coaches, players and all connected to the club.

What was your reaction when you found out Liverpool were interested in you?

I was delighted and increased my efforts in playing and training at the prospect of joining such a great club.

What was the biggest surprise in joining Liverpool?

Being asked to join! It is a surprise being here.

How exciting is the prospect of now getting the opportunity to play in the Premier League?

The Premier League is the strongest league in the world, and so I am very happy to be here.

And the Champions League, too. You must be looking forward to experiencing that?

I have already played in the Champions League with Benfica. It is superb that Liverpool are in it and I hope we will go far next season.

Have you had a chance to catch up with the manager, Brendan Rodgers? What has he said to you?

Nothing special. He told me what position I will be playing in the team and I am here to fulfil his expectations.

We know you can play in a few positions, but which would be your preference?

I do not mind. The left side is preferable, but I will play wherever I am asked.

What do you think you can offer Liverpool?

It is not my place to say, really, but hopefully my contribution on the pitch will show.

Liverpool had an excellent campaign last year, finishing second. Did you follow it from Portugal?

I watched every game and they played absolutely superb. It is a shame they did not win the title - but I hope we will win it this season.

Which players are you most excited to play alongside?

I could not favour any one of them. They are all equally good...but maybe the captain, Gerrard, as he is the team's leader.

You spent one season with Benfica, how important was that for you?

It was very important because if it wasn't for Benfica, I probably wouldn't be here. This is my opportunity to say thank you to all the players, president and all involved at the club.

You've won the league title in each of your four seasons as a professional. Which of those gave you the most experience and the basis to get here now to Liverpool?

There isn't one in particular, really. All were hard work and I benefited from each of them - and all of which have resulted in me being here today.

You have never played at Anfield before, how excited are you about the prospect of that?

I have seen what the players are like, I have seen what the supporters are like, and now I cannot wait to start playing there.

Have you spoken to your international teammates Matija Nastasic and Nemanja Matic, who play for Manchester City and Chelsea respectively, about playing in the Premier League?

I spoke to them both a couple of days ago and they are very happy that I am here, and I am looking forward to playing against them.

Finally, what would your message to Liverpool fans be?

I went to Partizan and won the title. I went to Benfica and won the title. Now I have joined Liverpool and want to win the title, 100 per cent.

How many players can do that? I've seen plenty of people do it. It's a good finish but I wouldn't go overboard with it. Seen people down the local park do it. Me and loads of my mates have scored like it. I was expecting something a lot more special than that.

This in-game, a close game by the way, after a great reception making a flick over a 190cm GK with his arms in the air. That's class. I've watch a lot of football, and only saw goals like this once or twice in South America, but without the same pace. That took a split second decision and great execution.
Don't even compare it to what people do in a park. If you ever step a foot in a pitch you know the difference.

Markovic is done, whats next ?

btw Sammer said this about Shaqiri "Xherdan is an important player for the future"

Shaqiri wrote later "I live in the present, not in the future"

Markovic won league every season he played so did Shaqiri maybe adding this 2 guys they can continua what they are used to do ? :P

Point I was making is it's not as great a goal as you made out it was. I was expecting something outstanding but it wasn't. It was a lovely finish but a tad overhyped IMO. Each to their own though.

i have a bad feeling we won´t go after Shaqiri now we have Markovic...

our line up in front is pretty much packed already..

------ Henderson --------- Lallana ---

-- Markovic ---- Coutinho --- Sterling

--------------- Sturridge ------------

Gerrard won´t be playing all the time, he isn´t youngest anymore, even Rodgers said it somewhere..

i know Lallana is attacking midfielder, but we have so many players now that we can rotate, it is difficult to find best 11..it´s impossible, wich is only good for us.

Would be crazy not to keep playing Gerrard as much as possible after his last season. He was amazing and the system Rodgers designed and implemented in the last 6 months (4-3-3 / 4-3-1-2) was one of the best things I've seen in football.
He is not getting any younger, but he still can perform that role for 2-3 years. Playing him as a holding creative midfielder with two box to box around him was brilliant. I suspect the plan this season is going to be to play Henderson-Gerrard-Lallana and start molding Can to that position.

What if Emre Can't?

According to Marca:
- We are going to make a final offer for Alberto Moreno that is very likely to content Sevilla
- There are rumours that Aspas to Sevilla was a full transfer covered as a loan
