Carroll may not have been his best game ,but he had a moment of brilliance in that header that won the match. He even gave Kuyt another opportunity to kill the match with a technical header in front of gol too for a 3rd. Kuyt missed a sitter, one could say he scored a harder goal and missed the easier one :P

agree with this , also i think Enrique dont have much "vision" what to do with ball , have energy and all but many times he do wrong solution !

He had a decent game .....just by his flick ons......
but not much else.....he still lacks the fluency and control...

not his best match at all....that was the 3:0 win over Man City last
season....where he scored 2 goals..

For me Carroll is 4th choice behind Suarez and Bellamy and even Kuyt

I think we should still sell him in the summer and get a more skilful striker.....
someone like Loic Remy with skill and a bit of pace...
we really don't need a big center-forward to compete the in EPL or in the CL if we get there...

NOW....moving on to the biggest game of next week...
away to Wolves....
after beating United....can the players be bothered to raise themselves
to get to top-4......I hope so....can Kenny motivate them after such a roller-coaster week !!

The league is still the bread-and-butter...we need top-4 ...otherwise it'll be hard
to get any new good players.

Guardian normally does not print such rumors...

Liverpool may have tried...you never know....

I think Carroll not playing against Man City for me was
a clear sign that he is not in Kenny's plans..

For me if Kenny gets rid of him.....I would salute Kenny
and say he has the guts to admit his mistake and ship
this guy out.....for the sake of the club.

because we need someone better...period.

Carroll is here for long term, get used to it mate... club has a long term plan and he is part of it, we could discouse it for days but i fully support it.

I would be worried about the Wolves match, but with Suarez back and rested I think the players should be up to making it a good return. I wonder what the team will be?

So we'll be facing Brighton & Hove Albion in the 5th round at Anfield..
I think we'll move on to the final stages without a problem ...

I hope the players dont approach the game with over-confidence..
otherwise we can get knocked out.....Dalglish will know all
about that (Wimbledon in 88, Palace in 90)

But the good thing is that the cup run adds some thing to look
forward to in this disappointing season..

It might put us back in track for a top-4 finish...but we really
have to start beating the so-called smaller teams.

More I watch us with Carroll in the team, more I feel sorry for him.

Clueless players - especially Downing - refusing to cross the ball.

If you played to his strengths, you will create and score goals.

This is coming from a fan who dislikes Carroll.

I know, he is a limited player, but atleast play to his strengths! How hard is it to just hit one of those Barton lofted crosses into the box?

Downing needs to do a lot more.
He needs to be more aggressive..and supply better quality for Carroll

I hate to see him put on the right wing....apparently that is Downing's preference...
which makes no sense since he keeps cutting in...

we need a right winger like Navas ...
Kuyt and Henderson are not wingers who can beat players and put in crosses..

All this is a moot point....Suarez returns next Saturday...
and Carroll may return to the bench.

well at least we can be sure we don´t buy overpriced (british or non-british) players...

and i realy hope this means we see the likes of Coady, Sterling, Adorjan or Shelvey more untill end of season or making first team debut...

Maybe JH knew we would not buy anoyone with quality without having to overpay again... i don´t think our top 4 depends on it as i think we were missing Suarez in worst time possible, but now he is back...

we will see..

While I happily expect United's second half of the season to be a bit weaker (given they're without 11 first team players at the moment), do you really think they're going to drop 16 points and fall behind Liverpool?

Anyway, I can't see past City for the title, and then Spurs, United and Chelsea to fill out the top 4. Just too much experience to let the leads go.

I'd expect Chelsea or Tottenham to drop. If Redknapp gets in any real trouble I'd expect that to affect the team, or if the issue gets drawn out. Chelsea just have zero confidence at the moment, front to back and I don't see it changing anytime soon.
But Liverpool play pretty negatively what seems like way too often, so who knows.

If Liverpool win the Carling Cup....I can see us really
improving in confidence...

This reminds me a bit about Gerard Houllier's season 2000-2001
when we won the Treble of cups...and got 4th place on the last day
of the season.

I hope we can get 4th place...and win the Carling cup...
That will be a successful season...

I can't see the top-3 being anything apart from
- City
- United
- Spurs
(United can still win it...but I think City deserve to be champions)

4th is up for grabs...
But Drogba will be back for Chelsea ....so we need to make ground soon :-)
Hopefully with Suarez and Bellamy firing on all cylinders we can start
going on a winning run in the league.

Without 4th place we have no chance of getting good players...
it will be more squad players at inflated prices...(I hope not !!)

agree except the last sentence...Arsenal didn´t won as much as we did last years, and yet they attract quality players...

we are still LFC, most succesfull english club in europe and second most succesfull domestic team... we have still history, money + attract players...

except Liverpool is not Barcelona or Milano, not as beautifull city as the other in italy or spain, but football wise, if we end to the 4th place and imho even if we don´t , we still can attract players...

it´s more about the players wages and perspective...we clearly need players that consider LFC the top of their career, not just another club in line to Barca, Madrid etc... also players who are not money whores...
