Grosjean lands 2012 Renault race seat

Romain Grosjean will race alongside Kimi Raikkonen at Renault next season, when the team becomes Lotus. It will be Grosjean’s second spell competing for the Enstone squad, the Frenchman having made seven Grand Prix starts for them in 2009, and leaves their 2011 drivers Vitaly Petrov and Bruno Senna without confirmed seats.:CRY::CRY:

I hope Petrov could find a place in "royal Mews" for the next season, Force India, or at least Maruse for emergencies.

The first pictures of the new cars are available. Here are the new Ferrari F2012, the Caterham CT01, the McLaren MP4-27 and the Sahara Force India VJM 05. And please don't ask about these exorbitant ugly noses they all (excluding the McLaren) have: New rules by the FIA resulted in this design disaster.

Petrov returned to Formula one, in Caterham Team, replacing Jarno Trulli. Good luck and new peaks in this team, Vitaly!

P.S However, a little sorry for Jarno, but it is still a business.

As always, the most beautiful car out there is the silver arrow. :D

About that ugly nose thing, Lewis Hamilton has already expressed his concerns regarding McLaren's options. Every single team has chosen to use that kind of nose besides them. We will see how it will work for them.

Got a feeling this is going to be the best F1 season in a long time! Great to see Lewis & Jensen Pole & 2, Would of loved to have seen Vettel just behind those two.

Great start to the season so far.

Mainly because Vettel is struggling.

Nice to see a McLaren 1-2 and both of them are extremely close to each other, also good to see Schumi looking racey and up for it.

Alonso and Kimi being way down should be interesting as well.

Great start for Hamilton and McLaren, in tomorrow's race I hope they will not miss his accomplishments, and she will race full of struggle and the glow, because I m do not want a repeat of last year's season when Vettel won almost everything, well, look ... ;)

Great start for Grosjean, the first classification after such a long break and immediately place 3! It looks like Renault (Lotus) is not mistaken when it replaced Petrov on a him, though ...

Seems like it could be a season full of surprises, I really hope so.

I'm refusing to watch it on SKY though, even if that means watching just the highlights on the BBC.

Hope so, too.

Still I see Vettel as number one contender for the win followed by the two McLarens and who is behind will be seen after a few races, anything is possible here from Mercedes over Lotus and maybe Force India to Ferrari, although they'd have to become much better very soon.

Yeah would be amazing if we had could get a 5 horse race with Vettel, Webber, Schumacher, Hamilton & Button.

Is that too much wishful thinking? lol Looks as if Ferrari are going to struggle big time. Lotus could be the surprise of the year.

Still early to tell who's in the quest for a title. For now, McLaren looks the strongest team in grid (ironically they were the only team who refused to build the damn nose thing) but Mercedes (Schumi and Nico were pretty fast in Q2) and Renault are close. I still think Sebastien is the favourite but the gap is stretching between Red Bull and others. Ferrari is a joke though.

Awesome helmet cams are awesome!

That is stunning, Shift 2 got it just about spot on.

Perfect race from Button, Vettel looked over the moon in 2nd and quite right fantastic race from him he really is the best character in F1, Lewis looked as if the world was just about to end lol.

The coverage so far on Sky has been bloody amazing! So much better than BBC or ITV.

German reporter said SKY UK had a team of 87 men down there, which is more than the teams, so I assume if they do their job well, they must have information en masse.

@result: No doubt Button would win this, perfect race for him, Vettel drove perfect, too and even won against Lewis in the better car, good job. Mercedes was disappointing, again, and Sauber(like last year) had a fantastic race in Melbourne. All in all we can look forward to a close and interesting new season I think.

Agreed about Sky's coverage.

Decent race today, shame about Romain Grosjean.

Congratulations to Alonso, he spent a great race and deserved the victory today. But the real hero of today certainly was Sergio Perez, who showed that in a formula, a new outstanding racer, because he is in the formula only the second season, and the second place already, it's just fantastic! I can not even imagine what joy for Perez experienced team owner Peter Sauber, because it is the best score in the history of his team! Today was just a legendary race for Perez and the whole Sauber. :TU:

Btw, after today's race I had a feeling that Ferrari in the near future there will be some changes, since the results shows by Massa I think unlikely to satisfy a team, well, look ...

Qualifying for the Chinese GP is a classical "Lol" to me. Especially because the Mercedes will be happy -even after starting from 1 and 2- , if they can win some points, as their race performance is below average.

I love how there is no clear favourite in any race this season, it's brilliant.

Mclaren, Ferrari and now Mercedes have all won a race.

GROßEN TRIUMPH FÜR MERCEDES! FANTASTISCH!

Huge huge victory for Mercedes and Nico Rosberg in one of the best GPs in a while in dry conditions. I'm very proud of my silver arrows, too bad Schumi didn't have lucky this time but I'm ok with that. Nico's performance made my day. :D

Hopefully Mercedes will pull a few more wins from now on and maybe contend for a title, but that's a long shot. Damn, this season appears to be so wide open so everything can happen. However, at the first glance, McLaren seems to be the best car overall.
