Formula1

Second time I think, wasn't there some time in China, when it was out, or am I just thinking wrong?

I find this season pretty interesting and I think its the best season for years right now. We finally have a lot of overtakes, more action(even without so much crashes) and closer ranges. Well, there are three teams fighting for the win, the mid-teams for the points and the rest is pretty useless, but these teams are all very close to each other and I enjoy watching F1 again after some years of not even watching them regularly. Today's race was a good example for this tight racing with three driver fighting for the victory and other bigger groups(f.e. the "crash group" at the end with five or six cars) fighting, too. Even smaller teams as Williams and Sauber are can win some points and with their great drivers they show how much potential they have. I can't remember we had that much action earlier in the years between 2000 and 2009.

Nico Rosberg could be the next top formula one driver under long-term contract.

Hot on the heels of Sebastian Vettel’s new 2014 deal, and Fernando Alonso’s tying to Ferrari through 2016, it is reported that German Rosberg could be set to sign on for five more years with Mercedes.

Sport Bild magazine said the deal is worth almost EUR 80 million in total, representing a 3 million euro pay-rise increasing by 10 per cent per season.

“I am counting on him being with us in 2012, and if it is up to me, a lot longer as well,” said the German marque’s motor racing vice-president Norbert Haug.

Rosberg, 25, did not deny the story.

“What I can say is that I’m really happy where I am. It remains my dream to succeed with the Silver Arrows,” he said.

Sport Bild said Rosberg, if he does sign the deal, would become the highest paid driver of all time who has not won a single grand prix.

He has contested 95 grands prix to date, and if he does go on to win he will join the likes of Mika Hakkinen (96 races), Giancarlo Fisichella (110), Jenson Button (113), Jarno Trulli (118), Rubens Barrichello (123) and Mark Webber (130) as the drivers who took longest to join the ranks of F1 victors.

You gotta be f'n kidding me. I like Nico, he's very talented but this is what I call overpaying.

Sport like banking seems to exist on another planet. Greed and avarice rule. We have two shameless tax dodgers in this boat.

Back to a truly great driver and human being (with all his charitable work) I am sure all F1 fans are aware there is a documentary film about the great Ayrton Senna a true gentleman off the circuit and fierce competitor on it.

Recommended viewing and very accurate according to close friends of his inc. Professor Sid Watkins.

Great recommendation indeed Albi. I knew about this doc since it premièred in Brazil and I've already seen the trailer. I'm expecting this to première in Portugal next Fall. Great driver, better character. Senna was all about sportsmen should be. :WORSHIP:

Race of the season so far. Hamilton should learn to be a bit more clever and smooth with Button, one of the most underrated drivers in the History of F1.

I have to catch my breath after that epic race. One of the best races of all time.

Still don't know quite how Button won it considering he was 21 and dead last 25 laps from the end. Truly unbelievable.

Shame about what happened with Lewis, just being overzealous.

Seriously, when the raid was in full flow, I was ready to turn over the channel. But when it finally restarted, it did not disappoint, awesome racing. Always been a Button fan, even as a former world champion he has the underdog thing going on, so I cheered a bit too loud when he passed Vettel.

Only disappointment was Schumacher not getting on the podium, not that I'm a fan of his really, just would of been deserved.

What the hell were those Marshalls doing though during the safety car? That was heart in mouth stuff when he tripped.

You mean this smart guy here, right? If Petrov wouldn't have had the opportunity to brake...o God.

All in all I was very satisfied with the race, was quite a great one with all the action going on the asphalt there, just the long break in between made me switch channels, luckily I did not miss a thing. From my point of view its very sad to see someone losing it in the last round, but that is sport, you have to focus until you see the finish line and Vettel still has an enormous lead.

I just wonder if it was really Hamilton's fault. I think Button drove very near to the wall when Lewis was next to him(reminding me of Hungary last year with Schumacher and Barrichello) and he than had nowhere to go. Although I'd always favour Button over Hamilton I am not sure if this was really correct.

Oh my god, this is a great race of those that I saw (I am fond of the formula is only 2 years), what a struggle simply superb, the fate of the first meta solved at last turns of last lap! :... Button with 6 pit-stop (!), barely reaching the pit lane and sank on 21 seats, was able to get first to the leadership race and then in a bitter struggle snatched first place, it is that superman?:WORSHIP: I think Vettel was upset because he lost the victory on the final lap race, though led the entire race. Schumacher also showed a very good race, he could be on the podium yesterday, but was unable to deal with Button and Webber and rode on the 4 th place, although I really wanted to see it again on the podium, I was even hoping that he can catch up with Vettel and compete but alas. Nothing, is his best result this season, and in the future I think it all still be on the podium and hopefully not just because it is one of the greatest racers of Formula 1. Very sorry for Nick, he had an excellent race and was worthy of points, but could not resist and went off the road, because of what Renault has received fewer points. I not can not congratulate, of course, Massa and Kobayashi, they had a great race and worth of points. Congratulate to Petrov, 5 place, it a very good result for him and for the team. Well, the Canadian stage was, as always eventful and was tense until the very end, I am very proud that I watched this brilliant five-hour broadcast, good luck! Go to Valencia. :BYE:

Really really not a fan of Valencia as a circuit. Hope no-one tried to get someone into F1 based on that race, they'd run a mile. ZzzzzzzZzzz.

let's see what happens in next race. i doubt that changing the rules will make the f1 more exciting.

though i am german and support sebastian vettel - it would be nice to see close races and a close championship, but i think this might be a season that comes up with sebastian vettel defendig the title at an aboslutely early stage which makes this season boring at least about the drivers championship

Boring races? Yea and the reason is simple: new circuits are crap. Period.

That's it. Most of the new circuits are lame. I strongly exclude Abu Dhabi, as it can host spectacular races, the circuit itself isn't that badly constructed, and maybe Korea and India as we have seen the last ones only once, or not yet. But other new works by Tilke are boring. Valencia, Sepang, Sakhir and Istanbul(also I like racing on it as its a fast track with many ups and downs) are breathtakingly uninteresting for spectators as they lack the possibility to overtake someone.

Especially on older courses interesting races were seen this year: Monte Carlo, Montreal and Melbourne. I can't wait await the two races in the area of my home(speaking about Spa and the Ring) this season, as these circuits are really outstanding and they are, what motor sport venues should be to ensure both interesting races and fun for the drivers.

Bruno Senna will make his Formula One race return in Belgium this weekend, replacing Nick Heidfeld to partner Vitaly Petrov at Renault.

After today victory in Monza Vettel can become World Champion in Singapore in the next race if nothing goes wrong. Would be quite bad for the tension, but I think we can see some interesting motor sport in the last six races of this season.

It was a racing incident. massa should get over it and dont act like a child. if he did that to me i would have punched him in the face

Sebastian Vettel is the official Formula 1 Champion 2011. Congratualtions to the Seb and the whole Red Bull crew for an outstanding year. Also good race today, sadly no win, but honestly: How cares if you win today when you become the youngest double-champion ever!

Just hoping right now, the last races will still be interesting, I looking very much forward to the race in Korea, as it was fantastic last year, and the new circuit in India.

Congrtas Sebastian!
