It's interesting to read how a fair amount of you are now using default sliders. I actually decided to try it on Friday afternoon after realizing I wasn't enjoying the game anymore with the constant adjustment of sliders. So I wondered, if the game is so great this year at it's core, why not try it as it was released: default sliders and even normal speed. To my amazement, and after adjusting my brain to the faster pace (as I was playing with 10/10 and slow previously), I actually had a great time playing the game, more than ever since the first time I played it.
Everything flows so much better to me this way, not to mention I am not noticing major defensive issues or anything broken really (with the exception of the sliding tackle frenzy introduced by the latest update).
I think it was @Emroth that mentioned this before in one of his posts, saying more or less from what I can recall, that the game is so dynamic this year that if you actually slow the game yourself, by avoiding the sprint button offensively, and defensively, by keeping position and not pressing the CPU attackers so much, you can definitely see the pace going down.
I have experienced this in a bunch of CM matches, where (with passing error at 50/50), if I tackle, press and panic constantly defensively the CPU will move the ball around super quickly ending in the infamous tikitaka style. BUT, in matches or situations where I do not sprint, tackle or press, the CPU builds up slowly, stops to look for empty spaces, puts more effort in long passes/through balls and actually misses much more, obviously, if you focus and do a good job defensively, regardless of sliders, specifically the pass error.
Absolutely! I totally agree with this.
@Anth James is achieving excellent results and I love and admire how people are able to frame a set of values resulting in something with a complete different flow but the problem is, a slight adjustment here and there can break the balance of the set completely.
Anyway, the game is really good this year, and it's great to know everyone is enjoying it their one way. After 10 games in CM with default sliders and speed, I can now say that I have found my sweet spot, and I am not going mad any more with the "option paralysis" that the slider adjustment is creating in my mind
