FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

Got thoroughly fucked off playing using semi-assisted passing with the input/execute delay the game has so tried assisted. Game got much faster (on normal speed) and harder. Might try bump it down to slow again to see if the speed reduction doesn't kill the difficulty, which I hope it doesn't. Matches were as dull as using semi-assisted passing.

This years FIFA is a miss for me. They've ruined a lot of things that were right in 2016. I'm going to hope a patch fixes the gripes we have.

Playing player career for the first time (playing as the team), got sent out on loan to league 2 (Crewe Alexandra), haven't played a match between two league 2 teams for a long time, it's fantastic, all the players are so rubbish it's a struggle to get any kind of passing move going, haven't had so much fun in a long time! Had the first round of the EFL Trophy, ended 0-0 so went to penalties, worst penalty shootout I've ever seen, the AI was as bad at the new penalties as me! I saved three of their penalties, they saved two of mine but I scored two and that was enough to go through! My created player (George Hirst) still hasn't managed to score a goal after about 10 games, his all round play is decent but the ball just won't go into the back of the net!

Love playing lower league careers. Its definitely a different experience to the City v Chelsea style games.

Only way EA Sports will listen is by making noise.
I appreciate your critical comments. I got upset a week ago when you spent 1 paragraph critiquing FIFA, followed by 3-4 paragraphs extolling the virtues of PES. Those posts belong in the comparison thread. But your FIFA-specific posts are welcome here as far as I'm concerned. Me, I prefer discussing ways to improve and fix the issues, with sliders and tactics etc., rather than talking about how wrong EA got things. But to each his/her own.

As for your comment above: I have never thought EA reads forums like this. I'm pretty clear they have one $pecific corporate vi$ion for the $erie$ (hint), and that's only noise they respond to.

Still do it on 16, with pompey, and youre right about the gameplay in lower leagues.
Massive fun, much better than playing the PL
Fun right?

I find it amazing how this game bypasses midfield, Sliders and tactics try to help but it feels like basketball, unbelievable end to end stuff come on now this is not football LOL

Strange. I have really nice battles and build-up play at midfield. Still enjoying this game despite the flaws. I hope EA will address these things:

- too much shielding of the AI
- fix gfx of the goalnets
- EPL graphics
- more realistic career mode touches (transfers, manager-transfers)
- Legendary level is too easy. I have a much harder time to beat Stoke or Everton then Man City or Man United

Strangly enough I have no issues with stuttering or button delay. Only the menus are sometimes a bit laggy. Maybe it has to do with TV settings? My friend does have stuttering and button delay issues dough.

Nope, it's just a joke and unofficial information. None of additional graphics (TV presentation) will be added to the game. We have to accept the default scoreboard for PL games.

Any explanation from EA?
Sounds weird as hell, since they have the PL license, must be some sort of a deal between them and the league that broke down.
Can't think of anything else.
Or it being licensed in a certain way for a number of years, then it changes.
Info anyone?

I'm pretty sure that I read that the on-screen graphics weren't actually finalised by the premier league till August. As Fifa had probably gone gold at that point and they had started to press all the blurays, they probably didn't have time to add it. Simple as that. I'm sure they will add it in a patch, seeing how its so simplistic, it would take about 10mins to create.

can you give me picture or video of that to see what you mean?because i still didnt bought the game
I just saw that its premier league now,no more "Barclays premier league"like last few years maybe because of that?

Then it would be out by now?
Let's hope'find it very strange though

I played a few more games of my player career last night with Matt's latest sliders (over on Operation Sports he's put a few big tweaks in, including lowering marking from 70+ to 52, and it helps big-time).

What I find really interesting is that, if I play as the one player, particularly in career (rather than The Journey), I think it's brilliant, genuinely. You see all the little touches (I mean literally, the ball-control), and it feels great to me (I think the main reason behind preferring it to The Journey though is that the lower-league teams are more fun to play with, no ridiculous rubber-legged antics). The stats are still crazy (on World Class & Legendary, passing accuracy for both teams is 90%+ no matter what), but I can live with that because it's representing a highlights package.

As soon as I control the whole team, I dislike the game, even with sliders. I said it of the demo but I still can't think of a better way to describe it - it just feels weird. The AI shielding is laughable, and if you lower it to Pro, even with semi or manual controls it's too easy, primarily because the AI doesn't seem to want to win.

But controlling a single-player, I love!

I get the feeling that they've made that a priority, single-player experience-wise, because of The Journey. I also had this thought the other day - I wonder how thinly they were stretched when A) planning for the PS4 Pro and B) planning for PSVR (nothing is announced but you'd imagine they'll come up with something, even if it's just a single new camera option).

Finally, we can finish 1 on 1 situation off with keeper in that popular way. That's what I missed in every football game before FIFA 17. Absolutely love this!

I scored with the chip/lob shot, on the volley, outside the box last night. Not with someone like Messi but Jack Cork of Swansea! But I think the GKs are pretty bad in 17 on last gen. It's easy to knock the ball past them on 1v1s and win penalties or do the fake/shot around them. Fun but not so much when the CPU scores yet another cheap rebound goal.

.

I've gone back to default sliders, I actually like the way it plays on last gen. I've enjoyed about 98% of games I've played, just a couple of games it felt randomly really fast again. But I can enjoyed playing with and against top teams on 17, I avoided the Prem and many of the top teams in 16. Oh and the different size of players is vastly improved, everyone looked the same in previous Fifas, I was playing a game with some Chilean teams last night, and the opposition's big lump of a striker really stood out!

Add to that the speed of the game is FAR too fast! Its like watching a Benny Hill sketch showing a football match! SLOW THE FUCKING GAME DOWN EA!!
