FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

I have to disagree. To me the full game feels faster than the Demo and not in a good way.

Sure I can adjust sliders and bump it down to "Slow" for Career Mode etc.. thats cool but as I have said before and this will be the last time I promise, I play online a lot of them time.
Many have said the online game is very fast compared to the offline game. Sounds like that's what you're experiencing. But the offline full game speed is identical to the demo speed, no difference. Unless EA has since patched the full game... I always stay with the original files and never update FIFA, so I wouldn't know about that.

Same for me too, offline.

Online is eye-bleedingly fast, but I don't think there's separate code or anything (why would they care enough, offline players have sliders if they want to slow it down) - it's just because it's very, very easy to play super-fast mega-football with the default controller settings. The same thing happens playing offline with friends.

My theory Chris and it is only a very daft sounding theory is that to try and compensate for latency that you will always get in an online environment, they have bumped up the game speed to try and sort of cover that you know? It's so annoying because it feels like an Arcade game.

Wow if I'd known how effective the ignore function on here is I'd have used it a long time ago, it's like they never existed!

Back on the topic of Fifa, the latest update on EPLscoreboardgate, is that there's not much update yet unfortunately, same EA producer tweeting the same things in Spanish about it:

Loving this slider set we've worked on. CPU variety this year is definitely enjoyable!

*Sliders listed in Sliders thread*

Should the weekly live form updates change the lineup/formation to that of the last game played by teams like in pes?

I only just got round to buying FIFA this year and can't remember how their updates work.

Next one in this thread to troll, bitch, snide be personal or take a jibe at PES deliberately ( off topic ) is suspended.
Not really interested who it is.

Got to admit, had a brilliant couple of games on this last night as a single player (immediately afterwards I played as the whole team, and can't believe it's the same game).

Started out at Crewe as an attacking midfielder, played a league game against Yeovil Town and it was a pretty end-to-end game, with our strikers (both ex-Tranmere players so I know them pretty well) having off-days. They ended up winning 3-0, but I managed to get a 7+ rating regardless, by (finally) learning not to press the stab-tackle button (which I usually "grab" with, but it doesn't seem to work any more) and relying on positioning and the pressure button.

Then, West Ham (!) in the League Cup. This is where I allow myself to go "okay, gameplay isn't absolutely everything", because walking onto the pitch at their new stadium, after playing in terrible lower-league ones with roofs missing, was an "I've made it" moment. There's something really special about it.

West Ham seemed nervous to make a mistake and kept hold of possession, but when we regained the ball, we were trying to get counter-attacks going - but their wing-backs took our wingers out of the game (plus, the manager's an idiot who didn't react to it - and I wish they hadn't removed the ability to see what tactical instructions your manager is giving out).

I conceded a corner around half-time, and it was headed away and straight out to Payet, who scissor-kicked it into the top corner. It looked just right, and on the replay, I saw something I couldn't see from my player's perspective - Andy Carroll had to duck out of the way, and the ball skimmed off his back, gained another foot of height, and that's what took it into the net.

The second half was more of the same, but during one move, the strikers were playing deep, I ran past, the markers were confused, I asked for a through-ball, it was perfect, I was into the box, I had to run off to the right of the goal to work a bit more space, hit the shot across the keeper, and... About 10ft wide of the goal. I felt sick with myself.

In the last five minutes, we seemed to be leaving more players forward, and again, one of the strikers swapped around with me which lead to some space. The ball was played to my feet (no "pass request" was needed), I followed the same path as before, thinking "HIT THE TARGET THIS TIME", and hit it... Straight at the keeper. (It ended up being the only shot on target we had for the whole game.)

That was that - real dejection at full-time. But we were outplayed, it felt fair, and it was a breath of fresh air.

I admit this too... every game is just so good, every game is fair and balanced which is what I'm happiest about, mostly 0-0 draws or I win 1-0 or the CPU wins 1-0... perfect number of shots for the time I play, perfect pass %. Could use a couple more fouls but I'm enjoying the game too much to care lol.

Sorry just noticed you were talking about be-a-pro mode. Oh well, it doesn't change what I said so I'll just pretend my replay was on-topic heh.

Watched my son playing a little "The journey" mode but went away then, not to be spoiled by something.
I have to admit that I can´t wait to try this one out, when I find myself some time.

I like stories in videogames...been very excited to several GTA, Assassins Creed etc Singleplayer modes and this one looks like a good story either.
I know, people have been ranting about it as they didn´t wanna play as Alex Hunter, but the things I have seen (his first premier league game) looked really nice.

Anybody know where the cheapest place to get this from for PC. I did ask in the thread but got tumbleweed.

I've been on holiday for a week do my palate has been cleansed aether playing Pro since release, would be good to give this a go objectively.

Only if they give Alex Hunter the option to steal and crash cars, and run over pedestrians on the way to the game. Otherwise I'd prefer to just stick to the on-the-pitch football stuff lol.
I have to admit, I was drawn into the story when it started (the school football pitch took me back to This is Football*), but as soon as it turned into Eastenders meets The X Factor, with two blokes giving each other the silent treatment on a plane because they get jealous that one might play over the other... That was it for me, had to turn it off. EA just can't resist trying to apply the Hollywood treatment to everything they ever do.

That being said, if it's aimed at a younger audience who no doubt love that shit, then, they're doing their job, I guess.

*Remember This is Football? There was an option to start a career mode at school, graduate to Sunday League football, and try to get your team into the league. The scope of that is absolutely amazing, to me - the ultimate career mode. Sod this "Journey" crap! Video below, for the nostalgic...

Well your options are essentially a reliable site like CD Keys for a decent discount, or some super-bargain site that sells Russian versions that can't be converted to English commentary. I always buy the Honda for $8,000 more because I know the Kia is going to be a headache and fall apart in 6 months. You get what you pay for, always.

O good grief, that right there for me would be "Hit B and instant-exit the game," lol.

Im enjoying this at the moment, playing a bit of Journey mode but also single player ultimate team.

Trying to build an MLS team at the moment. It is a good mode if you don't focus on getting the best players etc and stay away from online ;-P

Played a whole FA Cup tournament yesterday with Liverpool and it was ace. Had a few easy rounds at first, Leeds and Huddersfield at home but then had Brenford away, should have won but drew 1-1. In the replay though i couldnt get my game going and Brentford should have won. Scored a last minute tap in agains the run of play in extra time. Then played United in the semi and it was epic. Won one nil but it played out exactly how it should and Karius made some great stops from Ibra and Rooneh. Drew with Everton in the final but won on pens.

This game after the initial out of the box tweaks is fantastic. Ive heard people complain about samey A.I but i dont see it. The CPU has attacked me through the middle and flanks, played long ball, sat deep and pumped in cross after cross as well as hit some long shots.

I feel the potential in the game, definitely - but there's something about passing the ball that feels really weird, and I can't really define it other than to say I feel like the ball is constantly changing weight.

Sometimes it zips like it's a cheap plastic flyaway, and sometimes it rolls like a medicine ball through mud. I don't really know what's going to happen, pass-to-pass. If it's like that to accentuate the difference between passing ability, or pass power, then I applaud the effort to incorporate more individuality, but the range of the effect it has on ball-physics is much too wide (in my opinion, of course).

That's my number one issue, even more so than the game still lacking a lot tactically (because I didn't have any problem with any physics last year)!

I was the first one to criticise Journey mode (as I usually am the first one to criticise anything new and shiny being an old fart in gaming terms) but I loved the mode and can't wait to do a second run through as an obnoxious money and fame hungry arsehole, just waiting in the hopes they update the squads as it was annoyingly outdated for some weird reason.

After my initial impression that FIFA was horrible I've used matts sliders (v3) and had some great games.
I turn commentators off and let the atmosphere shine though. They have the sound of the crowd when a goals scored to perfection.
Just beat Porto 1-0 with City thanks to a De Bruyne goal in 93rd minute. First half Porto should be 2 up and second half I take Sane off and Sterling on and it was all me. Good saves by the keeper, one off the bar and eventually Silva skips past his man to slip De Bruyne through to drill us 1 up from 25 yards. The crowd go mental. Love it.

Same with me, love the crowd sounds, haven't had commentary on for two years now.
