FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

Just played my first CM game QPR vs Nancy 1-5 hammering on WC which i normally play. May jump down to Pro see how that works. Chris Davies get some sliders up please.

Is there a Player Uniqueness setting in Settings? Saw it on Operation Sports?

And how did you find team styles and individuality guys? Make me happy.

Just tried it again over lunch - started a career mode as Liverpool because I want to see all the Prem stadia etc. - and I really don't like it with the big teams. It's not terrible or anything, but I find it so frustrating to play, the players feel less "free" and more like, after certain button-presses, they're locked onto a path briefly.

I started on "slow" speed but the pace of the faster players is killed off when you do that, to the point where it feels frustrating and looks silly, so I had to switch up to "normal".

Playing on World Class, I had a pre-season game against a poor Brazilian league team, and my full-strength Liverpool side couldn't compete. They kept the ball for most of the game, and trying to tackle them was a fucking nightmare. You get close to them and either they turn just enough so that they're too far away to make a challenge, or they pass it away.

Meanwhile, my passes appear to be moving through tar, and the ball physics, or should I say the weight of the ball, seems to be wildly different depending on the scenario. After a few really slow passes, they hit a shot so hard/fast that it looked like someone had hit a "fast forward" button. It looked so out-of-place.

I said it after playing the demo but in a word, it just feels weird.

The biggest problem for me though is the AI, definitely. I'll try again on Professional tonight (and I'll try playing online, because I'm some kind of sadomasochist).

I personally think if you love either of the titles its hard to play the other one. They play so differently but you try and play them the same. My son has ordered FIFA17 so ill check his out.

I long for an option that lets you set the attendance prior to games in Career Mode. Sick of seeing full stadiums especially in the lower leagues.

I could be imagining this but was there an edition a few years ago in which attendances would fluctuate depending on cidcumstsances in career mode? Or have I made this up?

some question:
-can i subscribe to origin access right now?
-it's easy to cancel the subscription in the next days when i finish 10 hrs?
-i can't play today..can i use 10 hrs tomorrow for example?

Hmm, not sure to be honest.

Just being able to set it prior to the game would be a nice start. Nothing worse than playing a cup game say for examplec as Championship Team v League One team and seeing the place packed to the rafters.

Underwhelmed after the first game. If I hadn't spent the last week playing PES, maybe i'd enjoy it more.

I'll keep at it though. It looks bloody lovely as well.

I'm a very casual game player. And I'm not usually too bothered about graphics being a last gen player BUT I am jealous of the presentation/cut scenes. I'd probably get bored of them real quick but I love the players chatting while waiting to kick off and covering their mouths! Brilliant touch by EA.

Second game out of the way and switched it off for now.

I think it's stuck in a horrible middle ground between sim and arcade gameplay. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a massive gameplay patch (there would be either way), because at the moment I think they will struggle to appeal to either side.

Which begs the question, why don't they just add two modes "Classic" & "Sim". The Women's mode is different, game play wise and they include speed and slider settings already, so that would seem a logical next step.

EA, just think, you could take an even bigger chunk out of PES' market or charge extra $$$ for a DELUXE EDITION ** INCLUDES ALL NEW SIM MODE! ** :p

True that.
Even though I have an easier time getting into FIFA after PES than the other way around.
Still play about 1 FIFA 16 game to every 3 PES games, having a hard time letting that one go.
Think FIFA 16 with latest slider sets are brilliant,so I'm in no rush for 17

it's way too easy to play through the midfield vs the AI. can just hold sprint down and glide past players, or play passes between the lines no problem. kills a lot of the fun and realism for me

Played for a couple of hours tonight, and... I just can't get into it at all. Strongly dislike it, much prefer the last game, and I'm not the type to say that (I've got hours and hours of entertainment out of the last four years' worth of FIFA games, enjoyed them all despite the flaws).

On Professional I'm waltzing through the midfield, on World Class trying to regain possession reminds me of that Turkish ice cream man:

There's no flow, you're left passing sideways for 10 game-minutes at a time and waiting for options to appear rather than having the freedom to put a decent move together, partly because defensive positioning is so perfectly rigid - yes, long ball teams hit long balls now, but that's about as much team individuality as I'm seeing. Liverpool don't use the gegenpress etc...

Now player individuality - I have to say, THAT is there, for me. I tried to dribble with Milner and he was far too cumbersome. I don't think there's anything wrong there.

It's 90% the AI that spoils it for me, even when playing online in terms of defensive positioning etc...

Professional is a doddle, World Class is a nightmare. Really unimpressed.

As someone already said, it's half an arcade game and half a rigid, clunky attempt at a simulation that really doesn't work.

Fucking hell EA, what have you done.

That's a shame. It's getting positive reviews everywhere else. All the lads at my Southampton forum adore it (they also like PES 2017 too).

Playing in World Class though? Far too easy.
