FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

Absolutely right, it plays a very nice game. Gets me quite nostalgic of FIFA 14 because I thought that game was a couple tweaks away from being great.
Now I've played it more, I did start to think it's like an older but more refined Fifa. Nicely balanced, it's open but FTE keeps things interesting. The only thing I'm worried about is the possible lack of variety in CPU goals, which has never been FIFAs strong point but they do try long shots in this one. Don't think it will win any PES fans over, it's still Fifa, but I like the fact at least I know what I'm gonna get, as 16 was all over the place, great one minute, unplayable the next. I do think they're holding back team variety as a new feature for Fifa 20 or something! Had a nasty bug on the 360, the new penalty system is tricky enough without the guide disappearing!?

I love the demo because it looks fantastic. But after playing it for a couple minutes, I love it less and less. And when I switch to my modded FIFA 16 (sloooow game play and CPU boost AI removed), I realize what I actually really dislike about the FIFA 17 demo. But it does look fab...
I'm 50/50 at this point, I like the 17 demo but as I'm not sure if 17's camera settings will be the same I'm glad I still have 16 just in case. I had a game as Peru vs New Zealand with my own sliders with a zoomed in tele cam the other day (xbox 360) and it was amazing for a fifa game, as good as any ISS/PES game. Poor first touches and a lack of quality all over the place lol and the two great chances I created, the ball just went wide. But then when I played a City v Spurs game next, it was horrible! (Had to reduce player runs) So I'm hoping 17 is a bit more consistent at least. As for last gen graphics, I'm not sure if it's worse than 16, looks blurry at times.

If you mean the bug is the guide disappearing then that's not a bug. The first few pens guide you then after that you are on your own and that's the way it should be. You won't get a guide in the full release. Well I hope not anyway!

No, I get that, but after a few games it wasn't even showing for my first few pens! It's an improved system, in that it adds more of the drama of real life pens (I never feared pens in the last game) but maybe it's a little too hard, I was hitting the corner flag ffs lol!

I, for one, am definitely going to use this celebration whenever possible.

Tempted to get into FUT this year even though I loathe so many aspects of it, and it's community. Haven't touched that mode in like 5-years, but collecting/assembling a team of sorts in games is one of my favorite things to do. MyClub and FUT will be my side distractions. I take it the web app just allows you to manage your squad, and what not?

For those saying the guide disappears after the first few penalties, isn't it as simple as hitting up on the d-pad to get it back?

Wait, FUT legends are an Xbox exclusive? Fuck that noise. That was like half the reason I was interested. Now that I think about, I remember reading about that a few years ago. Must have slipped my mind.

Played the demo extensively, not as deep as the other game in terms of individuality. but I will be purchasing this game for the online experience, looks they have enhanced it even further, two great games this year.

Haha. I've put one over the bar but that was fair enough as held button too long. Hitting target easy enough. Just don't move the stick too much.

Fifa 17 Demo Xbox 360 Mini Review

Only had a few games but I was impressed straightaway how different it felt, (I thought we'd just get a kit & transfer update.) the players feel more solid & first touch errors seem more natural. (Even seen goalkeepers spill the ball.)
And I love how the CPU doesn't seem so telepathic, I was having more success with knock ons for example. And the CPU actually made fouls in 4 mins games!
Not sure about the tiki-taka passing yet, didn't see it in my first game against Juventus, who only had about 75% passing acc but I saw it in the next game against Sounders but I was trying out the dynamic camera for that game.
They've re-cycled cut scenes but I noticed some new animations, I like the chest trap. The 360 demo actually has sliders but I haven't touched them. I'll be buying it that's for sure.

Interesting. I'm playing on ps4 and while I really like the demo I'm not seeing what you see.
First touch is perfect for both me and cpu, even with that threaded pass that's normally more difficult to receive.
Not seeing a lot of cpu fouls either. Very very few fouls.
Another thing is see is that very often when I foul the cpu it turns into a yellow card. This always bugged me in pes and now i'm seeing it in fifa 17 demo.

As said, i like the demo - first touch and pass errors can be changed with sliders - and will buy the game on release day.

Yeah EA Access working. You have to play as Chelsea in Charity Shield first off though.

Doh. Probably worth just skipping out of that as it's only 10 hours play.

I'd also like to know about full sliders in the game, and how many of the ~50 National Men's teams have licensed kits in FIFA 17? In Fifa 16 it was only 50%.
