FIFA 17 News & Discussion Thread

That sounds really good lol.

Seriously though, why can't EA implement more individuality between players?!

I guess for the typical person that buys Fifa, having someone quicker or stronger is enough difference for them.

Someone playing in division 2 should not be able to play a through ball like Iniesta.

I really wish EA and Konami would release a joint football game combining the best parts, never going to happen obviously, and if they did you can bet they would somehow mess it up and take the worst parts from both games and make the ultimate piece of garabge.

You pretty much just summed it up.

Is LaLiga going to have real scoreboard in FIFA17 like Premier League and Bundesliga? LaLiga has new scoreboard this season and yesterday I saw EA Sports logo appearing on it during the match. In beta only Bundesliga has real scoreboard but You know, it's only beta.

Game speed ,animations and ball physics are really good. Player movement is spot on.

Sorry guys, but do not think I'm a troll or anything like that but I think that in the past, FIFA was with better animations. Now they seem too cut, sharp and fast-paced at times, do not look natural as they were before.

Both games have had huge problems with getting the transitions right for years, transitions being how you blend the end of one animation into the start of another animation so it looks natural and "human", even if you mocap human beings if you don't clean the data right and implement it right it looks like crap, having a wife who is a "professional mocapper" means you pick up a thing or two ;)

I like that they finally made some touches like Premier League wall behind the lineups or the referee taking the ball from a pedestal. Or stuff like this:

Hmm but in old FIFA games , animations was way better ! As PES fan, I always jealous of their smooth overflow of animation in animation. I found a random clip, FIFA 14 for example, see how the animations looks better.

Now they lose it !? Is it because the new engine or what ?

Even FIFA 12 looks smoother

Nope apart from player speed and agility, all players/teams seems carbon copy of one another. I can do the same long pass with a League 2 midfielder the same way I can do with a Barcelona/Real Madrid midfielder. Also had a match where Bournemouth had more possession and passing accuracy than Barcelona.

Are there differences in turning speed atleast? Mertesacker feeling sluggish et cetera?

Have said this before, but there's a forced split between wanting to be able to take your favourite players (even if Div 2) and get them to the CL, playing great football, and wanting 'real' attributes and outcomes.

IE, 99/100 Barcelona would beat Southend, but this is a video game, so this should be possible for Southend players.

The 'easy' solution for me - especially against the CPU - would just be a 'stats impact' slider or similar. At 100, stats fully impact the play, at 0 stats make no difference whatsoever, and I can finally take Bebe to the very top of the game.

can really get a sense of changed player and ball physics in the mini-games, which, to my eye, haven't really changed.

still not understanding the player development ratings in CM--on matchday, players are dropping 10-15 points regularly on their overall score.

i like how the AI if the teams tactics are set up to counter they wont pressure you all over the pitch on legendary they will sit back and gladly let you have the ball in your own half but once you get to the last third of the pitch they will hunt you down and launch a counter

leicester were happy to let me have the ball as you can see by the possession stats and picture i was just walking with the ball spraying it about and they tend to jockey you rather than come steaming in for 90 mins like previous fifa pretty realistic huh dwell on the ball too long they and they will try to tackle you

I'd love to know what this is about. In FIFA there's very little reason to ever switch your players around - they're never too tired to play and you can give the youngsters XP by just training them.

If it seems authentic, like if a player was in terrible form or had terrible morale (or less likely, being played out of position or in a formation that doesn't suit him), I'd be a HUGE fan of this.

But it's probably just a bug or something...

If you get the players' special details up, you can look at their form and morale and see if there's a correlation between that and the drop in rating - I think you have to be on the contract screen or something utterly un-user-friendly...

Love this too, this is a welcome change and it'll be nice to see some difference in the possession stats for a change. I just wish each team felt different (I believe they do, when you control them - just not when the AI does).

Do Leicester play direct?
Long balls,or very fast countering on the wings,or is it sideways/forward short passing ?

It's a new visual engine but the animations and all coding etc. is the old engine...

The above screenshot would be perfect if it weren't for the fact I count 5 players (and ref) with arms posed in identical 45 degree stances (or whatever degree it is!) the more identical poses you see the worse a shot like that looks.

This a great video! Lot more midfield. Not running straight towards goal. The kind of video PES players like me would love if it was PES of course.

I have no doubt about it this year. FIFA. Love every single bit of it. And I want to reward EA for always putting PC up at the top.

Are you kidding? The first goal comes from two passes! Fabregas (in defence) to Hazard, runs all the way through the wide-open midfield, scores!

I'm a big fan of FIFA 16 other than the CPU AI, but that video makes 17 look terrible!

I'd love to know too! Absolutely loving the game, really feels weightier and can get a sense of some subtle changes to AI that makes matches feel less frantic. This player development thing is a real killer right now though...for example from the time the season started until kickoff at Burnley, Daniel Sturridge's overall rating has dropped 19(!!!) points inexplicably. Ratings have never seemed particularly important in FIFA, but playing a kickoff match v. playing a CM match it's evident that the rating in CM is having an impact on first touch, passing, etc.

Sorry, I probably forgot about that part by the time the video reached the end.
Have you watched it completely?.

I watched the first half and lost all hope, there were bunches of players running towards the ball like schoolchildren...

Don't get me wrong, I understand that's because it's two online players who are playing like schoolchildren... But it's not a good advert for the game... IMO...

LOL, I'm so stupid. I watched two videos. The Chelsea one and the ManCity one. I was talking about the Manchester City v.s Manchester United video, but must have copied the wrong link!
