FIFA 15 News & Discussion Thread

I just wish for one year, EA would stick a fork in the gameplay - so for 16 say, "15 was as good as its gonna get gameplay wise, lets improve everything else"

So have physios, proper dugouts and subs made from that side, focus most time on career mode updates etc.

All these little things never really get touched, but the gameplay changes.

Out of all aspects of the game, IMO the defensive gameplay mechanics and AI need the most work going forward. Contain sucks. Teammates don't help enough. Etc.

That said, a lot of people's complaints about defending reminds me of posts I made when NG 14 came out, when I was struggling on World Class big time. As I got better, or at least became more familiar with the CPU's tendencies, defending on Legendary with tactical defending was not particularly hard.

My point is give it time, especially when it comes to defending. I'd also expect the final version to play a bit differently. This demo has the feel of not being finished, in many areas.

No interest in dugouts. Physios will be skipped like every other cutscene. All nice to have but not that important for me. I'd like things like tournaments that can be created between mates online. Somebody to be an admin for them so if any issues he can void the results, allocate wins for people who drop out. I like the the nice little touches you mention but can so easily live without them as I don't find them to be anything worth worrying about.

I'd never go back to legacy defending. Just hold a button down and let the computer do it all for me? No thanks. If I get skinned then at least it's me being skinned. As long as you jockey and time your tackles, tactical defending is great. I'm happy to be skinned at times anyway. What's the point of being able to defend every attack with ease and no input? Can't use it online so pointless for me anyway.

I'm thinking about giving legacy defending a try.

I'm all for a challenging defending system like in WE9 days in wich there was a high risk of giving foul when sprint agressively towards the man on the ball, but in Fifa 15 demo, playing at world class or legendary level is frustrating because the way CPU plays is so artificial that is unbelievable, it is ridiculously unbalanced. All players turn so quickly with no error, they can always predict with a matter of 1 secound your movement and attempt to tackle, and CPU players pass the ball in lightspeed compared me, wich is a problem with footbs games in general.

That takes the fun of the game. I see the potencial of the game, but it still lacks a more balanced gameplay with more human CPU, a teammate AI in the midfield to be more active to anticipate to a pass to cut the ball, intercept or not give freedom to an attacking player to turn or recieve a pass already facing the tartget, specially around the box (CPU player have always space to turn so easily at lightspeed in you box and shoot and score as if it a ride in the park) and more individualism (for example, I don't see Messi giving Little and soft touchs and changing directions quickly with the ball grande on his left foot, he doesn't feel different as it should, and CPU players make everyone have lightspeed turns)

Fifa 15 can be a decent game, but it still lacks in areas that were never strong in the series.

What an absolutely daunting prospect that is. :CONFUSE:

They're getting there but the game is still a long way off in my opinion. They seem to correct some things one year, then tweak them too far the next. There's not enough improvement in the gameplay year on year for me. The shooting hasn't felt right for years and they still haven't fixed the defending issues, AI issues, imbalances, sweaty play.

Agree with just about everything coopz said.

I play on broadcast cam, takes a bit of getting used to but the dribbling and touches you can do seem better and easier.

Can't wait till full release.

The filter on the highlights at the end results in some of the most true to life footy I have ever seen.

I watched a vídeo of Fifa 15 on WENB forums played by a member who also posts here (info0)

Info0, which dificulty level you played on that vídeo mate ?

You made the game looks 200x easier because of how much easier you could take the ball from the CPU with non stop double pressure.

I'm having a hard time taking the ball from the CPU on legendary or world class level, there's no challenging on the midfield as well. It sucks...

Are you playing on legacy defending ?

Cheers.

Think what I'm saying is 14 and looking like 15 do play a good game of football IMO. Are they perfect? No. Was PES ever perfect? No. Will ea sports ever be able to perfectly replicate 22 humans playing sport? No, most likely not.

So let's take a great version of the game and add on all the bits that would make the overall experience better as a whole. So even better presentation, better sounds, more stadiums, more individualty to players, better manager mode.

They seem to reinvent the engine each year and as you say, some things are better some are worse, but as a whole the game and modes don't really change much.

This is defo an improvement in many many areas over fifa gone by. The tactics are now much deeper especially with individual settings.

I still miss the midfield play but putting busquets as a deep lying midfielder Xavi balanced and iniesta as free roaming I can get a nice barca style. How did the testers not rave about this.

Really starting to enjoy this atm and looking forward to the full release
Need to sort out my defending though

I've only managed 2 games on the demo, the first I wasn't bowled over with as there was a goalkeeping save that looked odd, a shot hit low at Hart a good foot or two to his right. Instead of his body going right and feet left to save it was the opposite and looked an odd animation.

The main positive was Sterling seemed to float in the 10 role and find space which gives great encouragement that playmakers will be effective.

The second game I was Dortmund, i changed controls to my usual of all manual but assisted passing, and scored a goal I watched 20 times. Piszcek broke down the right , the defence and Immobile got to the 6 yard box, and I spotted Bender just outside the box running in. I perfectly manually crossed it to about 16 yards out ,it arrived to him between knee and foot centrally, and the usual volley animation like last year was replaced with a whilst moving perfectly cushioned side footed passed volley he kept down by putting his head over the ball and it curled into the left top corner. It was a quality finish.

The net lifted up a bit after and I fucking loved it. Won 4-1 with some "different kind of goals" to last year too but one again showed a bit of an "iffy" keeper animation.

Very encouraging overall

I've got the goal saved as I recorded it on the ps4. Just watched it immobile crossed it, but what a goal.

How can I upload stuff without using Facebook? Sorry for going OT

Love the improved Broadcast cam. Anyone tried the new Hexagonal nets + Loose settings? Some truly awesome billowing physics right there, pleased me so I'm sure it'll please many of the others Net aficionados.

With Chelsea have Hazard and put Salah on the other wing its game over folks Salah is so fast. :))

Edit: I want the full game dammit bring on career mode woot even if bugger all changed really

Ive tried a few slider changes and it gets the midfield involved a lot more in my opinion.

Line height 40
length 60
Width 60

fullbacks 70

also altered goalkeepers 25
marking 40
pass speed 60

enjoying this much more now

Played a couple of games of the PS4 demo and I find myself very impressed, nice to play it when it runs really smooth compared to the PC version, hopefully that can be resolved as I haven't changed my plans from getting the PC version of course :)

If you go into settings, capture gallery and pick the file. You can choose to export to a USB drive

Just tried the PC version, after spending a few hours on the PS4 version.
The PC version seems equal if not better. Looks very smooth while in play.
I set it to uncapped FPS so it's possible I see more than 60FPS.
( have an i7 with a GTX760 )

Impressed to see the PC version looking better the (next-gen) console one.

Just had a lovely little moment using L2 pace control. Received the ball into Fabregas and tapped it through the oncoming defenders legs. No skillmoves, no sprint. Simply well-timed touches. Jimmy would have orgasmed.

Really into defending and not having any problems. You more or less just cut-off the passing lanes while jockeying with the man you control, while pressing the AI contain to pressure.

Shooting and goalkeeping seem inbalanced but as this has been noted by EA I'll wait to see what retail is like.

Also noticing that AI defenders aren't picking up their men at all. Even on the World Class your players are left in acres of space to receive a pass, especially on the break.

Two features advertised in the buildup as main additions I've hardly noticed: player emotion and the new slide tackles/keep the ball thing. Hardly noticed either.

I'm also struggling with dribbling. I dunno, doesn't quite feel clumsy, but I feel very out of sync with it.

And I'm seeing a lot of headers. Quite a few more than I did in 14 single player. Mostly from quite a range, though some simply because of the keepers.

It's annoying the hell out of me too. First impression was great. Second and third, not so much. It's clearly not a finished product and it shows. Plus, so many of the previous faults are pissing me off.

I'll be excited to get the full release and I expect a quality product, but gotta say that gameplay wise it doesn't feel like enough has improved from 14, especially with the AI. So many bone-headed decisions by the CPU, even on Legendary. A lot of frustrating tactical and positional issues. It feels really mechanical at times, and passing isn't enjoyable for me.

Anyone know what build this is?
