FIFA 15 News & Discussion Thread

Had the chance again to play the game all day yesterday at the community day for editors for the FIFA database.

Must say that I'm really impressed with it and am very excited for it's release. Can't play FIFA 14 anymore now.

The ball is much more looser, lots of bad controls (even from the better players), midfield battles, more lenient refereeing which results in more aggresive play from both the AI and human.

The goalkeeper is much more human with fantastic saves and fumbles making that every shot has an unpredictable ending. Goalmouth scrambles galore. Exciting stuff.

The graphics have had a good tuneup with better lighting, the pitch wearing out, rain starting to drop all of a sudden (commentators picking in on it) cooler celebrations with every player involved.

And lots of nice little touches. The camera bobbling when the home team scores because of the crowd jumping. The corner flag moving when a player or ball hits it. The replays have been totally redone and are absolutely brilliant. Close-ups and terrific camera angles from every important thing that happened in the game.

It's really good.

Thanks for sharing that.I'm already excited myself.
Does that mean there's dynamic weather? In the trailer I noticed a player slipped trying to shoot from difficult angle while raining, so weather affect gameplay now? Thanks

Quick question about the post match highlights. Does it feature commentary from the match?

On the I video it kinda sounds like they have it but I can't be sure that's not just another person playing nearby and we can hear that.

Also did you manage to see the licenses referees?

Thanks for the update. The underlined part re goalkeepers sounds interesting and I look forward to seeing it in action.

The bold parts have me worried - bad control should be contextual (under pressure or maybe through fatigue or after making an error) and what I've seen of first touch error on FIFA 14 is that it's too random or given to players in lower leagues in a way that looks excessive. I know you have to distinguish players somehow, but even Sunday amateurs don't kick the ball 2 metres away under no pressure...not quite anyway :P

And the lenient refs has me worried because there's already a huge weighting to favour strength over skill in FIFA. The way certain players get man handled and bumped out the way means a guy like Messi will never look like the world's best player on FIFA and there's no punishment for just holding down pressure buttons and barging through to win the ball.

In Fifa 14 i played as Swansea and Leon Britton is only small but as strong as a brick shit house. I won many battles with him so i hope they give players correct strength and body balance. Also i would like to see more aggressive players like N. De Jong, Joey Barton etc act like real life counterparts by getting more prone to yellows and sendings off. The goalkeepers need to get injuries too.

Scorpio were u able to check the edit mode? wonder if they finally upgrade it so we can also edit what accessories players wear in rain/cold matches...

cheers, and thanx for the impressions!

I think they might have this year, because we'll finally have players wearing long sleeve undershirt on sunny days like Sturridge, Barkley and Rooney... at least we can see that in the videos. This calls for a new option inside edit mode.

It's time for you to buy a gaming PC ;)

Hope you asked why they've been so damn lazy and not done anything with career mode? ;)

A couple questions if you have the time. Could you talk a little about the AI. Most of my biggest issues with 14 are AI-related and I'm wondering what kind of improvements you noticed?

Has defending improved at all? Is the back line better at defending through passes?

Is player switching improved?

If you played single player, what was the difficulty level like (14 is way too easy IMO)?

Thanks!

The bad control was when receiving a hard pass or when under pressure or when running at full speed. Looked very realistic.

Don't be worried about the refs, played against Barca with Dortmund and Messi tore me a new one. Couldn't get him off the ball. The refereeing was just more like in real life, which I hate and love at the same time. It will get me out of my seat more when playing that's for sure, just like when I watch a real game of footy. Like it or not but refs have a high impact on games.

My striker was given a yellow card when slide tackling the goalkeeper after he just saved the ball. It was indeed a dangerous tackle but a close one.

My hands are itching to play another game.

The AI is well improved, it really felt like f.e. Barca was Barca and Dortmund was Dortmund I was playing against. I think it's because of the new implementations you can see in Team Management, were you can give every player their instructions.

Didn't see much difference in the defending part, the back line still has problems with through passes unfortunately. But you now have the option to "Park the bus" (it's actually put in like that)or go "All out attack" which is a neat new thing.

Didn't have any issue with player switching but most of my problems with that is when I'm playing with mates. I played single player sessions.

Difficulty level is improved because of the AI mentioned above. World Class was a real test and barely scraped through sometimes. I play on Legendary in FIFA14.

Great, exactly what I didn't want to hear.

Anyone know the reason why we can't edit players hair etc? I heard that in Madden15 Colin Kaepernick gave them the rights to used his tattoo likeness, they had to get the players permission so maybe this could be the reason.

I don't quite get the problem. I hated it in FIFA 14 were every little challenge was stopped by the referees whistle. Now you can tackle the ball and get the man but play continues. Much improved advantage rule aswell.

I promise you that it's a real improvement and resembles real life. ;)

Who doesn't like midfield battles with the ball going from left to right and back?

That's a shame.

I was hoping it would be possible to play a one-off Premier League season, or La Liga or whatever. Manager mode doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Custom Tournament Mode used to include all the leagues, so you could play a Premier League season.
