His brother used to be his agent right? I remember him being the one getting flack for taking him from Arsenal to Real Madrid.
 
Great win for us. Apart from 10 mins before our 2nd goal where we sat back really deep and just booted the ball up field, I thought we played quite well.

Man City need to learn how to defend corners! Hart is a liability on them!

Only one City!!! Can we play you every week?! Haha.

Not sure what your point is? Other than teams who've appeared most in later stages have earned the most money from the Champions League? That's kind of how it works?

That chart is just the earnings from the CL. So if you make it every year, and get to semi-finals/finals/win a few times, you're going to be at the top.

I believe we were until a couple years ago the only team to make it out of the group stages every year since the CL started in its new format.

Also been to something like 6 semi-finals, 4 finals and won it twice. Not many can boast that record since the 90's.

I think this must be the reason, otherwise teams like: Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid have had a better record.

That is not quite how it works.
The earnings depend of two factors.
1. And most importantly: the height of the tv money that is paid in the club's country
2. The further you progress.

But if a club from a litle country progresses further, this does not necessarily mean they earn more than Englis, Spanish, Italian and German clubs.

Best example is when Porto won it. That year more than 10 clubs earned more than them (i'm not sure but i think Porto where the 13th highest earners). Consequently they lost all their best players and their coach.

This format his thoroughly broken. It only divides the big clubs more from the other ones. One of the reasons why clubs are looking for sugar daddies.
 
crazy, they bring in about 15 players in the summer and sack the manager after 5 games, it's a bit weird init.

I don't know.

Fans today will not show patience with managers. Understandable when the financial rewards are taken into account and the effect relegation can have on a club.

Hughton is also under tremendous pressure apparently. Moyes as well.

It is madness. Unless a club has sufficient financial muscle, changing managers is not a recipe for any form of success. It takes time to implement personnel changes,a mindset and style of play.

di Canio's mistakes was to criticize his players in public as with Brown and Hull City. Players egos today are unfortunately very large and won't tolerate criticism.

So they get their own back by not performing for the manager. He was right to point out to them that the supporters pay ridiculous sums of money to watch these pampered prima donnas many of dubious ability play.

Phil Bardsley for one should join di Canio on the way out. These footballers seem to take the supporters for some sort of joke.

The least the fan can expect is hard work from them but the efforts of many at Sunderland were appalling.

No wonder there is a growing schism between the supporter and player.

Is he ? His sole mistake was criticizing them publicly.

Otherwise his other statements about the modern player in general are spot on.

When players get paid fortunes people expect them as in any other walk of life to perform. Be they bankers or sportspeople.

When they don't what do they expect ? Praise ? These players as at Sunderland have been molly coddled for too long. Unfortunately player power won out again.

Like little children. Throw your toys out of the pram because you don't like hearing the truth and the advice thrust into your path.
