English Premier League thread

Welbeck is the best non-scoring striker I've ever seen.

Touch, pace, power, vision - he's world class. Until that bit where he has to:
a. Play a crucial pass to a teammate
b. Beat that last man, or take that final touch to set himself up
c. Shoot

Welbeck is all football foreplay, no football climax.

But he's 22, a physical beast and a local United fan. So he can stay and not score for as many years as he'd like imo.

I don't know about calling him a football foreplay, he does have something but it's not that exquisite.

If that's all the foreplay he's got, I'd rather skip the action, because I know it's going to be nasty.

I think your overrating him now :P

He'll get their eventually IMO, he's 22 and he's got enough about him where he doesn't need to be a 30 goal CF to remain a solid player, think Sheringham, Berbatov etc.

Like Hull they re-branded too didn't they? Blue birds to red dragons.

Red Dragons isn't a nickname I'm aware of?! The media come out with a headline but its just the media putting 2 & 2 together and coming up with 5. We changed kit colour (not the first tram to do that) but we are still Cardiff City... which is what I was jokingly responding to :)

Wouldn't be surprised Tanny boy does change something again in the future though.

We are also still The Bluebirds... but wearing red jackets! :)

There was a fair bit of comment about it a few months ago:

I think it could be on the cards as they've changed the logo from being white and blue with bluebirds on it to white and red with a big red dragon.

I'm well aware of what's happened fella. They are my team. We won't be called the Red Dragons. The Dragon is from our National Flag and as we are the Capital of the country, out new crazy owner wanted to use that as part of our badge and change us red as he believed it would bring us luck. He wasn't wrong!! Bit ideal but we are still Cardiff City no matter what we wear. The club will live on and as I mentioned the other day, we aren't the first club to change and doubt we will be the last.

Our badge was changed from the blue one to a St. David's cross with a Bluebird on when Sam Hamann was in charge a few years back too. Was changed back a few seasons later and last year changed again! Crazy owners!!

One was a rebound on his own missed penalty, the other was a penalty. Seems a bit early to think hell do great again this year based on that but he looked good today.

Imo neither of them were penalties anyway, the first one Advantage was played and Villa missed that's not losing the advantage that's Villas striker being shit. The second one, he's got the ball first no question in my mind.

He's way off fitness Tobi, and with our early run of games I wouldn't be surprised if he's not involved properly for another 2-3 weeks.

Along with the fact Rooney needs games he's probably going to have to wait a little.

Kagawa and Hernandez both had weird pre-seasons, they essentially never had a true off season with games for their country in the Confederations Cup, the Japan tour then was kind of mandatory for Kagawa and then he got given a break only to return to Rio's Testimonial not looking very sharp.

Fair enough but I remain sceptical as to whether Moyes can get the best out of him.

Well SAF couldn't last year either so we'll see, I think if he gets a run of games like he got at the back end of the season he'll prove his quality.

The uncertainty of the Rooney situation doesn't help him though.

I think his brother Claude, who is also his agent, has passed away. I dont know if he has retired or if he is just taking time off.
