English Premier League thread

Well Pu6hy, to be honest, i never saw Cardiff play. I have no reason whatsoever to condemn them, i'm sorry.

It's just that i would have preferred to see clubs like Watford and Brighton in the EPL who have the reputation to play 'good' football... but it is all so subjective.

I'm sorry if i offended you...i have nothing against Cardiff, i was just saying i felt underwhelmed by the promotion of those clubs...it's personal...i hope both prove me wrong.

Watford are a team who have virtually all loan players. Why should they go up before anybody else? And there football hasn't been that great when I've seen them. Earlier in the season we were playing some great stuff. Went into our shells a bit towards the business end of the season and ground out results.

You should really base your comments on things you see with your own eyes though. I expected you to say we were rubbish when you saw us in TV and that's fair enough as at times we have been poor but you said you haven't seen us play so hmmm, that's a bit of a strange one really.
Don't expect much from us though! Ha.

I've done something completly wrong: i've judged teams by their reputation, both have the reputation to be long ball teams...that is not my style, but who cares...results count.

We don't have that reputation at all. Which other person who hasn't watched us play has said that? Just makes me think how much of your other posts are based on things you know nothing about really. We are a side you know virtually nothing about so make your own opinion of us after seeing us play quite a few times. We may well end up playing like that next year. Hopefully not but who knows?

Quality wise I think it's a pretty poor bunch of promoted sides. Cardiff will stay up but I don't see much hope for Hull or Palace unless there is some serious transfer business this summer.

We'll see. I expected very little from the promoted teams this year too - but obviously 2 impressed.

Palace are pretty weak and about to lose one of their best players, so will see how Holloway reinvests in the squad. They are defensively pretty tough - not as open and flowing as Reading were. Haven't seen anything of Hull though.

I've heard that on Football weekly.
And about my other posts: of course i haven't the faintest clue. As a matter of fact i never watch football...

So, finally somebody has found me out...must be an enormous satisfaction. The Welsh web wizard was too smart for me.

Just kidding...

You are normally well spoken Gerd so just found it strange that you would have said something like that when you never watch us play. Make your own mind up about us when you've seen us. As I said though, don't expect much next year! :) I honestly believe we are going to struggle. Not convinced with some of the rumours re: player signings so prey they aren't actually true. Time will tell though.

Anyway,

Well i Always hope the newly promoted clubs do well...i will certainly sympathize with Cardiff.

And football has finally reached the point of no return:
http://www.football365.com/news/21554/8780422/Bale-Trademarks-Celeb-Seas-Rise-Claim-Us

Bale has filed an application to the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to trademark a logo which copies the goal celebration gesture he makes every time he finds the net, with a number 11 - his shirt number - inside the heart.

An independent tribunal will decide in the next two months whether he can trademark the logo. Should it give him the green light, the Tottenham forward will then have a powerful icon which he can incorporate into his image rights.

That could stand to make him up to £3million a year, according to Nigel Currie, director of sports marketing agency brand-rapport.

He said: "The possibilities are huge for Gareth Bale. Once he has that right he can cash in on it and become a more well-known player.

"A third of his overall income could be made from his image rights, potentially up to £3million a year."

I don't see that to be much different from R9, or CR7 or hell even TC23 (Tom Cleverley for anyone who's struggling with guessing that one).

He's just trademarking the logo, not the celebration itself :P

Yea but he wants to trademark his hands in the heart shape, as a logo. Not just a logo like CR7, Messi, R9. Those were personal logos, identifiers. Not 'me making a heart with my hands'. Which I don't get, who does he love? Not Spurs fans since he'll be leaving soon.

Edit: This would be like Ronaldo trademarking his thigh as a logo because he's done the celebration before.

Considering the world where we are living in, that is a pretty smart move...i hope he succeeds and gets plenty of money out of it. There are worse ways to earn money...

He could then sell the rights to Konami and EA, and make even more money! Brilliant.

Wait, it's not brilliant at all. It's pathetic. Literally trademarking a celebration? F*ck off. Is he gonna sue me if I do it in 5 a side? What if an U17 Welsh player does it on TV, because Bale is his idol? What if someone in another country does it because it's hardly original, will Bale go after them?

He's a footballer. Focus on that Gareth. You'll make more money than 80% of your fellow Welshman make combined in their lifetimes.

If anything it should be Pato trademarking that celebration, Bale is just another unoriginal prick who wants to fill up his pockets with someone else's work.

correct.

Bale can fuck off, i really think he is a bigger cunt than Suarez.

also, how the fuck is Joe Kinnear back in football? are Newcastle attempting suicide?

If he just wanted a heart with 11 in it as a logo that would be fine, but he wants the gesture as the logo/trademark.
If this actually happens I'm fairly certain it will become a thing. Someone will do something retarded and trademark it, some hand gesture or some pose they can make into a logo by throwing their shirt number behind it.

It's just the 'logo' which hes creating which will be trademarked, it doesn't mean were all banned from doing the silly heart celebration if we choose too.

Seen this months ago. The logo is awful!!

According to the IPO website, he has also applied to use the logo on leather goods, and "animal skins, hides; trunks and travelling bags; umbrellas, parasols and walking sticks; whips, harness and saddlery."

What's wrong with Joe Kinnear? He used to be a body double for David Beckham you know!

...... At least that's what he told me.

on Joe

And striker Sammy Ameobi was aghast that Kinnear could not even pronounce his family name correctly after referring to brother Shola as “Amamobi”.

Sammy tweeted: “Wow, at least get my name right.”

:LMAO::LMAO::LMAO:

Raymond Goethals won countless titles (the CL with Olympique Marseille) and even coached in Brazil...he couldn't pronounce a single name correctly...

When he was Anderlecht's coach for the third time he had a an Australian CF who was called Eddie Krnencevic. He referred to him as: "that Australian player whose name i can't pronounce"...

Just spent 10 minutes reading posts on other gaming sites including personal favourites Sofifa and FUThead, about players from the premier league and the genuine lack of footballing knowledge the people who play fifa/pes/claim to be football fans possess is so astounding its unreal. All they seem to care about is if that play has 5* skills in game, as if this will magically turn them into a world beater irl.

People where criticising Thorgan Hazard for not having 5* skills and saying he's shit in comparison to his brother, and any fan who attempted to be rational and say yes younger and is apparently progressing better than Eden was immediately shot down by someone calling that person a "fucking retard, Chelsea hater" etc.. it just makes me glad that these forums exist where we have the best posters of rational and thoughtful posting.

My original intention was to post about my POV on next year, I can see United being dethroned by a vengeful City, and then pushed down into 3rd by a Mourinho rejuvenation in Chelsea. If Rooney leaves it will be interesting to see Kagawa and his position on the pitch for United, whether he will get the number 10 role or if RvP will be pulled back and Hernandez moved forward.

Read some news reports that suggest Ba and Torres may both be sold to accomadate the return of Lukaku and signing on Schurlle and so it will be a fascinating experience to see how Mourinho handles getting all his attacking options into the team.

At City, they will face a new season with a new formation (4-3-3) as that's the wish of the Tixi bloke. I'm wondering how the system will be implemented because I can't see City having a player capable on left wing, Nasri is the closest I can think of however having players with so much quality means its a guarantee the system will work out some how. Fernandinho is a player who will be playing against his price tag for most of the season imo, while Navas will add the dimension of width that city's current squad lacks so obviously.

Also my eyes will be firmly set on the progression of Januzaj at United, seeing how Villas young squad continue to grow.

And seeing Benteke succumb to second season syndrome.

Yeah, you're right about those forums but just remember most of em are still kids, teenagers. They still haven't acquired a proper social knowledge or the necessary communication tools to able to express their thoughts properly.

About the next season I agree with you for the most part, except for two things:

1. City already has one hell of a left winger, in fact he was the best in la liga before he came, I'm sure you already know who I'm talking about.

2. United shouldn't wait for Januzaj to progress, they should allow him to grow yes but not at the expanse of the team. You should also consider buying a great CM such as Thiago just in case.

Also it'd be nice to see how Zaha is going to adapt to United's game, the kid is awesome!

On the other hand I'm pretty excited about Palace's return, or like I like to call them Andy Johnson's club :)
