English Premier League thread

Its too early...long season and the team could be at the bottom at the end. They only bought (3) at £35.5m its massive amount . Arsenal only spent £6.5m more.

I know.
am just talking about what they played, I haven't predicted anything ..
but, they did well against Liverpool and MU by grabbing 4 points away, even if these two teams aren't that great this season ..
but overall, Saints seem solid ..

I think the Saints were solid last season too ,but I would agree Pochettino is doing a great job!

Only Chelsea (can't remember), Utd (82m) and City (81m) have spent more net than Southampton (60-odd million iirc) since they've been back in the PL.

Was a graphic on Sky Sports the other day.

Good team. Really like Lallana. They might not score enough goals over the course of the season tho

Saints are playing pressure very well this season, if you watched them against United and Liverpool you'll see it clearly ..
also Lovren is their best recruitement this season by far, he's the real leader in the defense ..

Saints do look good, but United definitely should have had that match done and dusted. The narrative changed after the 90th minute equaliser, United had some guilt-edged chances to make it 3 or 4 nothing before that. For all their pressing, the better teams are able to pick the pass that avoids the 3 pressers, and that can open them up.

But against the vast majority of teams, the pressing will freak em out and cause real problems. Am generally really impressed with Pocchitino, even from the moment he took over last season the team was so much harder to beat.

Saints are just exceptional. Osvaldo looks classier each game he plays, Wanyama looks talented in the middle and I'd have to agree with Jihado on Lovren excellent signing.

Good to see I was wrong on Lambert as well, he certainly knows how to put that head into use!

Damn it !
Swansea deserves better place in the league table.

How do you work that out? They are where they are on merit. They were useless yesterday. They offered nothing after the first 20 mins. They were content playing the ball around the back and backwards. I was disappointed with them as expected a lot more. They are our main rivals but I do admire the way they usually play and I've no doubt they will finish above us but they are where they are and don't deserve to be above any team that has earned more points than them.

I sincerely hope i'm wrong, but i have a funny feeling that we have seen the best of Swansea in the EPL.
They will be OK this season, but next season i see them go down.

But like i wrote: i hope i'm wrong, the past two seasons they played terrific football, that is until their League Cup win...afterwards they lost focus and imo it is very difficult to regain that focus with the same manager.

Is Laudrup to blame ? Don't think so, but in this case i have a feeling that they would be better off with a new manager.

Could be totally wrong of course, wouldn't be the first time.

swansea deserve 13th in the league table, because 12 teams have more points than them.:TU: it doesnt matter how nice you're football is results is only thing that matters.
this season it seems michu has fallen off, maybe it's that 2nd season thing but he hasn't looked the same, but they got beat by cardiff because gary medel annihilated them. mane how the fuck cardiff get a player like him??

Stoke's 1st minute goal today=goal of the season :FAIL:

lol it wasnt even the best goal of that game, rodriguez equaliser was incredible.

Wait wait wait, he's not Ashley Young, I don't understand?

That is absolutely ludicrous. But WBA are a small team, Mourinho doesn't lose at home and Ramires is a loveable scamp, so no one will care next week.

We'll still be having Ray Wilkins write newspaper articles about Ashley Young.

Haha, love Jose: "It was a penalty. I have watched it two or three times and it was a clear penalty"

Yes Jose, of course it was.

At least Moyes calls a spade a spade.

One more Jose quote - and remember this is the Jose that coached Porto in the CL - literally the most cheat-filled, diving, time-wasting team I have ever seen - "I hate diving. My players know they will be in big trouble with me if they dive. It's very bad."

Am sure Ramires is in for some punishment tonight.

The ref took his time and so I thought 'I'm finally going to see Ramires get booked'...

I think Jose just says the opposite of what he thinks other people expect him to say. I was expecting him to come out and say WB deserved to win and chelsea got lucky. I watched the game and Chelsea were bobbins

Was thinking that, has he replaced Steklenberg for Holland? Don't really see the top 4 making any changes to their GK, Liverpool just got Mignolet and Spurs have Lloris. He might have to go abroad to move 'up' a level.
