eFootball PES 2020 Discussion Thread (PC)

Is it the same for you guys? The kits(PES Universe) I installed take forever to show up on the match screen? Sometimes they don’t even show up!

This game drives me nuts, sometimes I could swear demo plays better, and at times I see gameplay of retail game is more polished and more realistic!
Same teams, same stadium, same formation, same settings!

I love the physicality of this game! I just love it! FIFA doesn't come close to that shit.
Players are fighting for balls, recovering, getting back into the fight back and forth, it's just beautiful to witness this.

Just had an amazing passage of play where Willian fought off the first defender in 2-3 close battles, lost the ball to the 2nd but almost made it back while he was stumbling all over the place and trying to get back possession. It looked astonishing!!

Some amazing touches but it's very much a game of split personality and overall things feel really wishy washy and inconsistent. It's the inconsistency that gets me, for a lot of the game I just don't feel in control. It's like every encounter/event/action is put through a randomizer. Delays, extra touches, animations that aren't consistent and ball pace … all very inconsistent.

I like my controls to be quick, precise and concise. PES 2020 doesn't have this, it's been diminished since PES 2019. I like to be in control and sadly I'm not.

Don't get me wrong there are some amazing pieces of play but for a lot of the time the AI just follows me like wraith-bots, mimicking my controls with movement, it just doesn't sit well and means that your movements/actions really don't mean a thing when the AI decides, in other words your intelligence doesn't mean a thing because computer is reading your control patterns and adjusting the movements of its players accordingly and the outcome is highly unrealistic. So you end up with situation where the computer players just stand off while you perform tricks and then as you try to advance they just step in and take the ball.

I still (can't believe I'm saying this about PES after less than a week!) get the urge to play PES 2020 but then I play it for a few mins and want to turn it off. I think its overly sluggish and the inconsistency is killing me, people think this is Konami changing the pace but it isn't, all they've done is make the movements a lot heavier but again it goes back to consistency, the heaviness just adds to the mess. Passes are sometimes overhit even though you press light, shots are ballooned even though you pressed light.

A lot of the game feels randomized, particularly the shooting. I'm really trying to give it a chance but I can't help but see the problems.

Same problem here. I have i7-8700, 16gb ram and rtx 2070.
It seems that Konami will fix with next update. The problem is related to lack of vsync in game settings. Try to enable vsync from Nvidia control panel and check if your game runs better.
Hawke suggests to set crowd details to low. It doesn’t work form me but works for someone else.
Let me know.
Same problem here
Game is very lagy and can't play smoothly
Try all suggestions but no joy

I couldn't agree more with this. I've been playing ML and BAL over the weekend and the more I played, the more evident it became that PES is still fundamentally flawed. To name a few gripes:
• Too many slow animations / clumsy first touch animations:

Why does receiving a slow 5 yard pass require a slow turn and a heavy first touch (this allows the attacker to quickly dispossess the receiver, as the receiver is caught in between animations)

On the flip side, I have seen the AI play fast, hard 30 yard ground passes which are played back with a recripocal first time pass

• Ball doesn't move quickly enough / ball moves randomly:

There are times I want to quickly shift play from wing to wing yet the result is almost always a slow, floaty pass. Other times I want to play a fast "daisy cutter" pass and instead a get a floaty, ground pass.
Yet, I have seen that these "fast" pass animations do exist, but it seems to be randomised and no way to trigger them on demand. Doesn't make sense to take control away from the user.

•Shooting feels too random / floaty:

This again is basically the same as above. There are some nice "R2 shot" animations, that have power, speed, precision and curl, there are also some nice power shot animations (low, hard, fast drives, top corner rockets etc.)
But again, it feels like there is no way to trigger these on demand and the "default" shot is floaty, limp and random.

I know what you mean regarding power on passes and shots. For now I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and guessing it might all be a lot more contextual based on touch and positioning.

As far as the other stuff, what difficulty are you playing on? I’ve long had a theory that higher difficulties ‘cheat’ a bit and something like ‘pro’ is where the balance is, even if it might be too easy.

I think this was more of an issue on FIFA where it was widely accepted that the CPU cheated you on higher levels but it could be a PES issue too. I play manual so don’t get up to superstar but even on Top Player I see some of what you mention. I’ve put it down to regular to practice basics. I’m winning too easily but seeing less psychic behaviour.

Hi, i downloaded some turf that’s been up on pespatch.com and getting yellow spots on my turf in game. Anyone who got the same problem. Sorry if this is the wrong thread.
I’m using the ”Swag Turf”

yes, it takes a while.

I also noticed: when you use the ingame editor for kit design, it's totally laggy and demands a lot of patience just to scroll through the various kit design options. I think they messed something up there and the kits loading time on the pre-match screen might be a result of this.

Managed to put in some good time on it yesterday after only have a couple of hours here and there since release. I'm really enjoying it, although there are some issues.

I like the fact that the ball now feels like it's own independent object now, I know some people are complaining about this, but I personally prefer it. In past iterations is sometimes felt stuck to players, and the on a set path when passing it about. Now it feels loose and that it's always a possibility that control will be lost, or a pass will be misplaced. I don't know why, but I like that feeling while I'm playing.

I love the deflections on the ball, everywhere on the pitch; and the lazy miss-placed passes which can turn possession over quickly, which sort of fits into the above point as well. Everything feels a bit more physical and realistic.

Shooting has felt fine for me. Defending feels a bit harder, but I'm slowly getting used to it and finding myself winning more and more tackles cleanly (not that it always matters).

Not had many issues with AI Free kicks for the most part, just once which I'll go into below.

The downsides at the moment for me personally are :

The refereeing:

It doesn't seem to be an issue every game, but sometimes I have no idea what he is on. Some nothing challenges, and good tackles getting penalised. When I started my ML I seemed to get a few freekicks myself as well, but as the season went on I seemed to be getting less and less, while the AI was still getting the same amount (and some bonus cheap ones). On the AI Freekicks and dodgy refs, I was close to losing my cool yesterday after a free kick was given for a perfectly good, if not great standing tackle on the edge of the area. If anything it was a foul on my defender getting caught on the way out of the challenge. Anyway, AI pops it in the top corner to make it 1-1. I get a 2nd and make it 2-1 and in the last minute I give away a freekick (it definitely was a foul this time too), but this is where my AI freekick issue came up. It was 30 yards out at least on the angle, the player who popped the first one in stepped up and smashed that one in as well, no keeper in the game would have saved it. Alex Pritchard at Huddlesfield. Not exactly Juninho. It seems if the AI player taking the freekick is half decent at taking them and is on form then, you pretty much have no other option than accepting that you're going to concede.

Player Switching:

Feels like a mad dash to switch to the player who is nearest the ball and can influence play, battering L1 three or four times. Needs to be patched ASAP before it puts off some players for good. I learned how to use only the right stick to switch player when playing FIFA some years ago, because their player switching was bad, but I un-learned it after starting to play PES again a few years ago. Somehow Konami have messed it up so I am learning how to only switch using the right stick again now, not a massive issue for me personally, but not good for people who don't want to use the right stick.

Player reactions:

'Get the ball you moron!' is something I am thinking to myself a couple of times a game. AI players just not reacting to loose balls is a bit silly, and I think it's half linked to the player switching issue. If it switched me to the player who could get the ball, then I'd get it myself, but it doesn't. It switches me to someone else who can't get close to it, while the player who could intercept it just stands there. I think this will be patched, and it's not something that I've been punished by in game to be honest, it just looks stupid and slows things down.

Defending:

I've had to start using the 'swarm the box' tactic for the first time ever. Maybe I need to as part my Master League team. But when I wasn't using it, it felt as though the AI could just use their body to easily turn all of my players and get a free run or shot at goal, and there was nothing I could do, I couldn't tackle them and I couldn't out-muscle them. It also feels as though I don't have the same luxury at the other end, although maybe I just need to learn how to utilise it properly. I have a big man up-front who can use his body to protect the ball well, but I don't seem to be able to turn the defender as easily as the AI does to me. But like I said, maybe that's a learning curve I'm yet to reach the top of yet.

But the AI seem to use there backside to force their way through on goal a bit too easily.

All in all, I'm really enjoying it, even with the issues. If none of the issues are fixed I'd be happy enough to play it until next year, but with that said, the issues are easy fixes, and really should be sorted asap.

Ah. Thanks for the response. I hope they’ll fix it in the next update very soon.

Hi guys, just bought a Geforce 1660ti can someone point me in the direction of a decent monitor with low input lag between £200-£300? I'm a proper tech noob!

Anyone here feel that the HDR effect of PES 2020 is quite annoying? I prefer the color way of PES 2019, my eyes don't get tired when playing for hours with them.

Anyone lend a wee hand ? When palyin 1080p 60fps animations don't stutter gameplay is silky smooth . When playin 4k 60fps animations stutter but gameplay is silky smooth aswell any idea ? Cheers

To commemorate the release of PESWORLD eFootball PES 2020 Option Files (OF), i thought i'm gonna write a simple tutorial for PC user:

For this tutorial sake, we are going to use PES World eFootball PES 2020 English league 1 OF 2048.zip as example:

PREPARATION
Please only download from PESWORLD official website

1. Get your OF here
2. Use 7-Zip/WinZip/WinRAR, unpack PES World eFootball PES 2020 English league 1 OF 2048.zip to eFootball PES 2020 save game directory (default: Documents\KONAMI\eFootball PES 2020\WEPES)
3. Still inside the WEPES folder, create a folder "PARTNER IMAGE"
4. Still inside the WEPES folder, create a folder "STADIUM IMAGE"

IMPORTING TEAM FILES
This step will import team details including its respective PARTNER, STADIUM and MANAGER image to your game

18. Still inside EDIT mode, select IMPORT/EXPORT -> IMPORT TEAM (if this is your first time, complete the import tutorial first)
19. In SELECT FILE menu -> choose SELECT ALL FILES -> select GO TO DETAILED SETTINGS.
