Evo-web Pre E3: i dont expect groundbreaking changes, no new engine just an update to 2019 like last year, dont even have hope for ML changes
Evo-web Post E3: maaaan no groundbreaking changes, no new engine, dreadful they are trying to change ML after such a long time, im pissed!

:EMB::LMAO:

Nah they even add "efootball" into equation.. :FISH:

But has anyone seen the FIFA Volta trailer? I mean is this what we want?
Obviously not. Who's asking for that here? Nobody. So this is entirely irrelevant. PES can be better than a barebones non-simulation. Whether FIFA exists or not.

I'm getting so fed up of reading that PES is great because FIFA is shit.

If someone gives you the choice of a punch in the head or a kick in the bollocks, you don't go around telling everyone how brilliant it is to be punched in the head.

Was going to say the same thing. 20 years in and this is announced as the next big thing. Unbelievable.
It is clearly a 3-years plan here.
1st year: miss kicks
2nd year: misplaced short PA1 pass, that goes out for a throw in instead of being received/intercepted.
3rd year: who knows... sky is the limit. :P

@pacpes dude with the amount of ridiculous excuses KONAMI gives us the recent years, I would easily buy your joke for real any time of the day! :D

Unless they've made some major improvements to the Ai this year (which is highly doubtful) I'm certainly not going rush out and Pre-order the game this year. I'll play the demo and wait about a month after full game release before I decide whether or not to part with my cash.

@Ameppe :) You couldn't make it up could you? All these 'new' things that were in their games 15 years ago. Misplaced passes/shots, shoves off the ball by defenders, last ditch fouls by the AI, one handed saves, shots with the outside of the foot if the player had a low use/rating of his weaker foot and so on.

Still, there are also a lot of rocket laser passes in it...

Pes 5? Yeah, of course, we are talking about a 15 years old game. That was the best they could do with PS2 and it was by far the most free and natural gameplay we could have.

Right now Pes is so guided in pass and shots that even Fifa that was always laughed at for having a crap gameplay has more realistic shooting outcomes and lots of misplaced shots.

During the first livestream i heard Adam saying that the next build will have more shooting animations. I feel like i have heard that every single year.

"don't worry, this is just E3 build"
"next build will be amazing"
"just wait for the demo"
"just wait for the final game"
"just wait for the patch"
"just wait three years"
"this is just the second of the 3 years Master League plan"

Nah they even add "efootball" into equation.. :FISH:

how about only ePES2020?

I was joking, of course, since some of you noticed the lack of a button for it in the menu. Maybe it's part of a submenu or just not added there, in this demo build. It has been my favourite mode since ML has become lackluster.

Shows just how much bullocks we have had from them throughout the years that I bought that 100% without a second thought.
I suppose I should retract my statement about them being bellends... but I am still not convinced they haven't thrown out League mode for the same or an equally ridiculous reason.

Misplaced shots, new feature!

Well, Pes 5, 15 years ago, had shots that went way over the bar, even when Veron was taking the shot. It wasn't automatically targeted to goal like a rocket.

It's always good to see a PES5 video just to remind you that the desire for basic elements of realism is not "asking too much", especially when it was possible on game consoles with less power than today's phones.

I do wonder if it all comes down to catering for eFootball, how can you have shots blasted over without people whining incessantly about scripting? (Not saying it doesn't exist, but the truth is the more variation and error you add into the game the more potential for human confirmation bias there is). Perhaps that is why it's all so dull, because at least if little Johnny blasts a perfect shot on goal and the 'keeper saves it he doesn't feel like he has been cheated by the game and is more likely to use mom's credit card that evening.

I hate it when games developers remove things from games then add them back in a few years later as "New" features.

I don't want to subject myself to watching the first Bhatti stream but if he was telling people not to worry because the game would be improved, it just sounds so amateurish. It's fine to say there will be improvements but maybe don't try to hype up a reveal of a game to then just instantly throw it under the bus?
Not sure what I am trying to say is coming through, but I just find it odd that someone who has been doing this so long doesn't seem to exude any confidence.

He said that the dribbling moves, kit textures and shooting animations will be improved next build. He obviously used words such as "huge" "amazing" and so on, describing how much better next build will be.

Yeah, it's amateurish, but when has Konami not been amateurish in their marketing department?

This is exactly why, year after year, people play a build and say "that's great", then they get torn to pieces because the final version is different.

Finalised animations can end up lasting longer, which has a considerable effect on response times, etc... That's just one example. Things can change significantly.

If it's truly only a "60% build" or whatever, surely these videos are a bit pointless - because tweaks to dribbling especially could change things entirely.

have to also add, what they said and presented sounds promising on paper, back in the days i would have gotten excited when they said that different players react and run different lines depending on who has the ball but now to me they are just words, even when i hear people playing saying about misplaced passes, pace is slower, everyone feels different etc, everyone says the exact same thing every year and then konami get there feedback from people for example that struggle to play one touch football saying passing is broken, so thats one of the main reasons i have zero excitement of what is presented cos i know for a fact we arent gonna be playing the same game everyone is playing at E3, have no idea what we are getting final release.

PES Universe are there and playing the game. They've posted something about a "misplaced pass".

Now I had my suspicions... On PA1, which you play on by default (and I suspect they're playing on too, I've spoken to Barry and he's not the PA3 type), on PES 2019, it is literally impossible to misplace a pass other than to hit one out of play.

"Can be over-powered or under-powered" - but not off-target.

"Happens with lesser-skilled players or first-time passes" - but every normal pass... Perfect.

That answers my biggest question... :CURSE:
I'm really hoping he's just misunderstood the question or rushed and gave non fleshed out answer.

You pick which team in a derby match that you "support", and then every time you win online, you earn that team points. Yep.
Isn't this a mode FIFA had for a long time?

its good
but why not just give the option to crate a-b-c leagues as much we want
anyway the community can crate all the leagues they want to .
the community can crate new leagues for new country , the potential of this is huge.
when people that play fifa always says that we have alot of leagues fifa why should i play pes?
Exactly, I'm not an expert on the "database issue" But surely if it's possible to add leagues on the PC version by fans, Why can't Konami just give us blank or fake leagues and let the community take care of it?

Really? Did they say it on the stream tonight? I have to ask, at what expense, have they lost Ligue 1 & 2 as a result? lol

Sadly, Konami dont tend to just add stuff, they tend to add and take away.
Hey Simcut, Haven't seen you around here for a long time, didn't you work on the PESEdit patches?

My thinking on all this:

The PES team should have skipped E3 altogether this year. Release a trailer ahead of E3, leak tidbits of new features. Then do a full launch at Gamescom with professional presenters. Be both genuine and excited about what is in the game. Have presenters talking over people playing the game who are trying to make the game look good. Have Adam on hand to talk about specific things if there needs to be clarification on what might or might not be in a given build.

Currently, what they do with E3 is barely build any hype at all. It wasn't bad last year, because the build was close to finished given the early release date they set. But it looks like this year, the game is still in development, and so Adam keeps hedging his claims, and almost apologising for the quality of the current build. It's depressing, and it's terrible from a marketing perspective. If the build isn't good enough yet: don't show it. Really, it's that simple.

I don't think anyone is hyped hearing about the new branding, or the new buzzwords that some twats in suits have been bandying around a boardroom. They want a near-finished product and some solid details on the game. And they don't want to sit through a tortuous, repetitive shit show just to find that out.

It makes my eyes bleed. Own goals, all the time.

EDIT: oh, and other thing... this teasing of "ooh, we have some great news to announce which you guys will absolutely love..." – it's really shit. Just hype it the days before, not a month away. Not with vague hyperbole. Imagine tuning into that broadcast being curious about PES but not a fan? You'd be mystified about the game, and you'd find all this "hush hush we can't do a reveal yet teehee!" stuff really offputting.
I completely agree, The marketing of their games isn't their strongest point admittedly. They really need a trained, experienced public speaker to present these things and be the mouthpiece for their marketing. You can call them evil sales people all you want but this is an industry built upon selling a product at the end of the day and silver tongue spokespeople are large part of that. Dis-ingenious, yeah maybe but their pitching a product at the end of the day.

When these front men take the stage at E3 or in these booths, It's not just to give gamers a boner over an announcement, it's almost like a dragons den style pitch being that this is predominantly a trade event, to introduce and advertise upcoming games and game-related merchandise to retailers, investors and members of the press.

The part that i found a bit frustrating was the live stream, Have 2 people play the game by all means but you needed that 3rd person who's not distracted by playing the game, actually discussing it and explaining the features and what we're seeing. Not bantering and "argh-ing" mid sentence and losing his train of thought, not returning to a point he brought up. This isn't slating Adam either but i felt he couldn't concentrate on playing the game and presenting it at the same time.

It's a bit of a false dichotomy you're suggesting though there, right?

Like, a lot of people want some assistance, because they feel it better reflects the importance of unique stats. But they don't want it as totally on-rails as PA1 is. They want something like PA0.5, or semi-assist.
Exactly, Manual is great and all for freedom, unpredictability and challenge but with PA1, You want it to have some accurate range but with that margin for error so you can't just vapidly pass without even thinking about the decision you've made like we have now.

Hopefully there are more mishit passes in the final build, and less like this:

The problem with that last pass in the clip is that the pass makes absolutely no sense in the context of his body shape or the direction he's facing in. I can't tell who that is but i'm assuming it's Rakitic, Who is right footed. So he's doing this first time pass to a player who is directly behind him, can't see, with his weak foot and it still has enough power to find it's target. That's what breaks the immersion for me in regards to passing. It just seems like no matter what situation the player is in, they'll always release a successful pass.

Could well be a teenager/early twenties guy. Most of us grew up in a time where player faces did not matter because they were all bloody awful and very often hilarious. Cosmetic stuff is probably more naturally a focus point for people growing up with the kind of graphics you get in AAA titles these days.

I'm not saying that Konami should be obsessed with faces, or that fans should be... But I think it's perhaps less a facepalm moment in general when you consider how gaming/graphics/expectations have changed.

Caring about faces is silly. Because we should really be caring about...

...

BOOTS! :COAT:
Haha there was a time when gamers were obsessed with boots and their respective DLC's.

I get why faces are important as it's part of the immersion, there's nothing wrong with authenticity in a realistic game and Konami have been outstanding in this department for accommodating players from around the world for clubs of all levels where as FIFA only really have faces for the most powerful teams in that game. God help you if you want to find an Dutch, Portuguese or South American club with any player faces.

Apart from the obvious "more faces are better", My theories with Konami's enthusiasm for faces over the last couple of years is 2 reasons:

  1. They want to future proof their face database with player faces of a consistent quality, style and modelling system similar to FIFA, When the day comes when Konami move to a new engine, they've figured out a way of preserving these models and porting them over like EA did with Ignite to Frostbite. We all know we lost a ton of player faces from PS2 to PS3/360 and then from PES 2013 to PES 2014. In the past they've redone them from scratch and sometimes they looked worse.
  2. In order to keep myClub, their biggest revenue generator as appealing and addictive as possible, they understand part of the incentive of opening balls is getting a shiny new player with a real face and a pair of boots. It's almost like a dopamine response from the purchaser that makes it feel like you got a legitimately unique player and is part of the satisfaction when you feel like you got a "somebody" compared to someone with a generic face, Just makes them seem less important i guess. It's shallow but that's my other theory

Let's face it, if they come through with the promises we will all be ecstatic. If they could then add a team level filter into online divisions like they do in myclub and a proper pass assist filter so I don't have to play anyone on pa2 or 3 I probably wouldn't ever lose interest in online!

Isn't this a mode FIFA had for a long time?
Yeah. I'm pretty sure it still does something like this - you're asked which team you support as soon as you boot up, and I'm sure the data is recorded somewhere (showing which fans have the highest amount of points). But, rightly, nobody cares about this...

The problem with that last pass in the clip is that the pass makes absolutely no sense in the context of his body shape or the direction he's facing in. I can't tell who that is but i'm assuming it's Rakitic, Who is right footed. This is exactly why I get annoyed when people say "it's football, it's got 22 players and goalposts, what more do you want". It isn't football, and if we can berate FIFA for doing arcade shit, we can berate PES for doing the same.

Let's face it, if they come through with the promises we will all be ecstatic.
Not while stuff like the above still happens.

I know we had a bit of laugh about it, but I have a serious question for a change..
What "e" actually stands for..?
Not trying to start any cracking jokes here, im asking for real. "Electronic?"

Before the jokes start... Yes.
Thank you.
What im aiming at is - in theory - ML is also E-football, right?
The whole Pes is E-football... so are we not overreacting saying its all online E sport focused? I mean... its a stupid name, and purple background with this logo during replays is even more annoying, but.. apart from that why are we angry?

Obviously not. Who's asking for that here? Nobody. So this is entirely irrelevant. PES can be better than a barebones non-simulation. Whether FIFA exists or not.

Calm down, it was rhethorical obviously. And where did I allude to anything you said in the last sentence?

"eFootball.Pro founder and president is professional football player Gerard Piqué. The company is headed by Javier Alonso as Managing Director, Helios Xaudaró as Executive Director and Jordi Orteu as Esports Director."

So Pique is going to change the world of online sports games as we know it?

You aint gotta like it, but this is the future of online gaming i'm afraid, I don't think this is a fad. There's a real market for this and a massive demographic. People scoffed at the notion of watching other people play video games as pathetic and sad 10 years ago but Twitch and Youtube have taken over the world and TV is practically redundant amoungst young people.

At least people are interested in watching someone play the actual football match and not click off the video once the pack openings are done.
