So, I have to ask, but if anyone believes the passing is too accurate, why is that even a problem when you can just play it on manual?
It's a bit of a false dichotomy you're suggesting though there, right?

Like, a lot of people want some assistance, because they feel it better reflects the importance of unique stats. But they don't want it as totally on-rails as PA1 is. They want something like PA0.5, or semi-assist.

This.

And, CPU doesn't play manual. So you'd need to theoretically weight passes very well with your top team but given the general "system" a random D2 squad with 65 per overall and midfielders with ironing board for foots does hit evey kind of super precise ping pong. Kinda kills immersion.

Does anyone know if they've said whether the new first touches are based on stats, or if they're in the skills list?

They look cool, but I hope they're not exclusively for the top 1% of players. Want to see players like, say, Zaha pull of this stuff (unless it's something like Ronaldinho catching it on his chest, that's fair enough!)
I think it's reasonable to assume that it's going to be stats based

My thinking on all this:

The PES team should have skipped E3 altogether this year. Release a trailer ahead of E3, leak tidbits of new features. Then do a full launch at Gamescom with professional presenters. Be both genuine and excited about what is in the game. Have presenters talking over people playing the game who are trying to make the game look good. Have Adam on hand to talk about specific things if there needs to be clarification on what might or might not be in a given build.

Currently, what they do with E3 is barely build any hype at all. It wasn't bad last year, because the build was close to finished given the early release date they set. But it looks like this year, the game is still in development, and so Adam keeps hedging his claims, and almost apologising for the quality of the current build. It's depressing, and it's terrible from a marketing perspective. If the build isn't good enough yet: don't show it. Really, it's that simple.

I don't think anyone is hyped hearing about the new branding, or the new buzzwords that some twats in suits have been bandying around a boardroom. They want a near-finished product and some solid details on the game. And they don't want to sit through a tortuous, repetitive shit show just to find that out.

It makes my eyes bleed. Own goals, all the time.

EDIT: oh, and other thing... this teasing of "ooh, we have some great news to announce which you guys will absolutely love..." – it's really shit. Just hype it the days before, not a month away. Not with vague hyperbole. Imagine tuning into that broadcast being curious about PES but not a fan? You'd be mystified about the game, and you'd find all this "hush hush we can't do a reveal yet teehee!" stuff really offputting.
That comment was so well written, make it sticky! :APPLAUD:

Bold stuff: imagine that!!!
Shaking my head while writing. Could all be so simple and enjoyable.

Edit: don’t mind the the joke in between. We gotta laugh. :)

Second divisions returning actually make this more interesting. One of the big issues i had with Pes 2019 ML was the fact that not only they didn't improve it, but actually they made it worse by removing two leagues that are so important, even if those are lower leagues.

Imagine wanting to play as Chievo and trying to not let them relegated to Serie B, by removing second division they completely removed that feeling of accomplishment, considering no team in Serie A was never going to be relegated.

Also that made Serie A totally stale, with the same teams over and over. That was a huge slap in the face and i don't agree with Adam at all that this is not big news.

It is nothing to celebrate but it is big news, it is extremely important. They shouldn't have been removed in the first place and they actually should have apologized for such a disrepectful move.

Now there is risk they have removed League mode again, just like they did with Pes 2013. Be prepared. With Konami it's always like this: one step forward, two steps back.

The whole PR process adopted by Konami is exhausting. Waiting for DLC, waiting for E3, waiting for July. Starting to put me off. I understand they want to build anticipation but it just feels its a constant wait to hear everything and at times its not worth the hype they try and create. I want the game to succeed so willing to be patient but my patience is wearing thin.

There were alot of mishit, mistime and miscontrol instances in the last video. More than I've seen in any PES video in a while which really isn't saying much tbh. Hopefully these will be frequent occurrences based on positioning etc. Also it would be nice to see some more GK animations, esp for saving low shots. Seems like there's only one or two, and these are the same from last year. Prob would of been nice to invite one of the best GKs in the world in Allison to come in and due some mo cap but then they go and lose liverpool.

A little plea - if you're watching a video and see a misplaced pass or miskick, drop us the link / timestamp so we can take a look.

I'll watch through the Palmeiras video now, I'm sceptical because the answer I got from PES Universe earlier made it seem like the only time a poor pass happens is when it's a first-time pass.

Also, I want to know that if first-time pass accuracy is indeed less perfect now - does that mean it's less perfect when the AI try to string literally ten of them together, like they do on 2019? Because that would be a big shift.

EDIT: Watched the first 30 in-game minutes of the Palmeiras match (Adam controlling Palmeiras scores from a header) and every ground pass is laser-guided, every player has the same accuracy and performs to the same level - I must be missing something!

Hopefully there are more mishit passes in the final build, and less like this:

you know how sometimes you work really hard to get somewhere but then to keep up the workload you end up burning out?

that is precisely what is happening with pes.

MyClub/PES release/DLCs/option files = GRIND GRIND GRIND.

Even keeping up with this thread makes my eyes hurt! And all because of crappy unfinished unpolished presentation because "we got to put something out there for E3 every year"

GRIND 2020

Btw, did anyone catch what happened in the English stream? Robbye felt like his team were bouncing back, and seemed to unironically go "ahh I'm getting stronger, it's the momentum ;) "

Thought that was pretty funny on a live stream

That (No D2) and crappy gameplay killed 19 for me,and that's why I rather play 18.
Relegation/promotion are the very lifeblood and nerve of football.
Glad it's back, hope for a fully licensed Serie A (FIFPro and an exclusive with Juve)

100%
Fully understand people who want stats reflection. Pete Potato should kill a ball boy every now and again, while Messi should miss only when they are biting his ankles or he is completely out of balance.

As someone, who only this year started and learned PA0, I have seen both sides in short period of time.
Additionally - due to Pes19 being a little bit of a poo, I ended up shuffling Pes19/18/17 throughout the whole year... and still do.

At this point - I love PA0 and its hard to go back to PA1, altho road was dark and full of terrors..
PA0 in Pes19 feels fantastic, by far best of the 3. There is some error, as there always is when user has no support, but its not frustrating. Ball is free and goes where we want it to go. So as long as they dont change it - it will be PA0 for me again.

Now - good news and bad news.

Good news is that, according to a lot of people here, Pes17 had most assisted passing of last 3 games. Yet pass completion percentage end stats were the lowest. That was due to clever AI, responsiveness, interceptions, physicality. So I wouldnt worry about pass accuracy too much, if they worked on other factors. it will feel good and ballanced.

Bad news is - fuck knows if they worked on other factors.

Ps.
D2's return is best news for me so far. Daniel was right that they only remove it for one year! Monster patch must be coming next!

Chances are tho CD that they are using full assist? i mean if they are not top players, it could look embarrasing on manual, but i hear what you're saying. They could have at least put it to semi assisted.

As adam said last night this was "an earlier build" we have heard this so many times...which quite frankley i am shocked at konami to be so ill prepared to present nothing more than a earlier build. Surely at what cost did this encur? another opportunity missed.

One positive i did like was players looked more able to shield the ball by good weight (holding off) effects. However, even looking past the demo all together ( which is never representative of the release). the real answer will be with the final release (although maybe/probably will be patched after that. So i cant really be sure what this game is going to be like...well not at least for a fair few months. Peace.

g!

Don't have much time atm, but quickly.

There were more in the vid but didnt have time to go thru it all. The fact is there are instances, without a doubt more that before (last few games). As i said before, ideally they should be more prominent especially as most persons rush and pass in all sort of unnatural positions. Currently it's still a bit too accurate. Let's see if it changes.

Theres really no way back from is it,.
Good knows I've tried all difficulties and PA in 19 to make it playable,no matter how bad the AI gets,it's always by far the best/most fun being on PA0 Vs PA1.
Especially the freedom on through ball/lofted passes.
I can't deal with it outside Pes though, even if I try every now and then, just not the same.

A non retatarded and not over powered AI Vs my PA0 is on my wishlist.

does anyone know if there are other upgrades to master league other than D2's and dialogue screens.
- Transfers fixed (yet again) and possibility to set transfers frequency & budget at the start
- some sort of pre season? That was bit confusing yet interesting. Some pre season stages.. (hopefully some frendlies)
- they also said there might b more than just D2's but dont want to jinx it. Maybe something editable there.. that'd b nice..

We can get a better idea of what is possible when the full list of leagues is announced. Wouldn't be surprised if they removed some of the smaller first divisions to add space for Spain and Italy D2. But if they truly have been able to get past that ridiculous limit on leagues and teams then it could also be promising for PC modding at least.

I do love playing FUMA when I can. But – and it's a big butt – I really can't stand that they haven't patched basic, longstanding bugs. Target-locking is still a routine occurrence; it's still difficult to head the ball when it's in the air (corners are fun...). Those are the biggest things for me, from memory. But combine that with the extra weight/momentum to players, and you often end up in situations where it stubbornly refuses to let you pick up the ball with the nearest player, when you finally manage to switch, the one you wanted is out of position, and you end up turning him like a tank. If you're lucky enough to still have kept possession, you've lost the opportunity.

Fair play, you've caught a few promising mis-kicks there. I imagine on myClub almost everyone will whack it up to PA 2 or 3, and so you'd see less of an impact. But good for games with mates on PA1 and against the COM. Will still await to find out if AI is truly as inaccurate as humans can be... Adam said they would be, and that the AI "don't cheat anymore". We'll see!

One thing I do like is how loose the ball looks. I'm sure it'll be tightened up a bit, but hopefully not to the point where it's always glued to someone.

Yeah but they said the exact same thing last year about transfers being realistic can’t take it serious till release
