I'm actually feeling bad for these guys. With a background in marketing I would be feeling like SHIT, if i should promote a game i clearly don't know the outcome from. ''My personal favorite'' is being said constantly.

Yeah but they still need a presentation 101.

"Striking identity". Kill me.

This is the kind of stuff you do at brand meetings in a marketing department. In-fact, they are marketing buzzwords. You're talking to gamers like potential business partners.

Can you imagine, in a million years, EA starting a FIFA presentation by talking about WHAT THE MODE ICONS ARE THIS YEAR? No. They're capable of updating menus and not trying to MAKE IT INTO A REASON TO SPEND £50!!

What next? "The menu sounds have been improved infinitely, now you can REALLY HEAR it when you click a button."

Do you EVER see other games talk about this stuff?

Imagine the Cyberpunk 2077 guys coming on the stage at E3 to wild applause, Keanu Reeves front-and-centre, techno-rock playing in the background, smoke billowing out across the stage, and then, Keanu opens his mouth...

..."for this game, we wanted a logo that was really zig-zaggy. You're going to LOVE how yellow it is. Fresh."
:LMAO::LMAO:

PES Universe are there and playing the game. They've posted something about a "misplaced pass".

Now I had my suspicions... On PA1, which you play on by default (and I suspect they're playing on too, I've spoken to Barry and he's not the PA3 type), on PES 2019, it is literally impossible to misplace a pass other than to hit one out of play.

Apart from that, all passes are perfectly, laser-guided on target; a defender will just step forward to intercept, for example.

So I asked a question.

"Can be over-powered or under-powered" - but not off-target.

"Happens with lesser-skilled players or first-time passes" - but every normal pass... Perfect.

That answers my biggest question... :CURSE:

Completely boring and uninspiring. New animations, new turf, new first touch....all of this is aimed at 1v1 esports game.

Nothing about development of tactics, improved AI, things that will change the actual gameplay, that will improve the realism and depth of play and flow of a football match in 1-player mode.

And legends as managers? What's the hell is the point of that? How does this advance the game?

You get to see Maradona smoke weed.

I seriously don't get how this takes a year to make.

Add to that the given fact that they said this is 'year 2 of the 3 year plan'. We can trow out the idea that PES 2021 will have a new engine.

It's sad. Of course, we can't write the game completely off already - But really. It is the same. I'm sure that Master League will be with cutscenes who doesn't make a difference.

From an energy and disappointment perspective, I would have liked that the game stopped after the PS3 period. I really think people are using a lot of resources - Myself included.

It should have been a closed cycle back then.

Does anyone know if they've said whether the new first touches are based on stats, or if they're in the skills list?

They look cool, but I hope they're not exclusively for the top 1% of players. Want to see players like, say, Zaha pull of this stuff (unless it's something like Ronaldinho catching it on his chest, that's fair enough!)

"Match day"
wtf this shit?
You pick which team in a derby match that you "support", and then every time you win online, you earn that team points. Yep.

Someone's just said you can choose your transfer budget when you start the ML now, that's interesting.

That and the second divisions being back are the best things to come out about the game so far.

Well I guess, baby steps

"Can be over-powered or under-powered" - but not off-target.

That's why I've always maintained that these playtester guys are shills, wittingly or unwittingly. They just can't give a straight answer without spinning it into something positive, he's asked about "misplaced" passes and responds talking about underpowering/overpowering. Not that it even needs to be asked since it's obvious from the footage passes are still on rails.

Anyway I think I've seen enough for me to know this is another skip year, let's see what next-gen brings.

P.S. it could just be me but something feels fundamentally off with shooting and I've felt it for a while. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but it feels like every action is preordained. It ruins any element of suspense or unpredictability, as if the goalkeeper has already dived and is ready waiting by the time the shot arrives. In Classic PES there was always the satisfying illusion that anything could happen and somewhere along the line it's been lost. I don't know, but all efforts on goal whether they end in goals or saves just look flat and lifeless to me in most cases.

“Striking from the very first screen” they say! Only that. So they are not wrong. ;) The first screen is “striking”... but WTF?! Not that I rely on menus but come the f on!!

It’s a shame!!
