Please tell me that for PES2020 in normal online co-op you can finally FILTER OUT the myClub teams so you can play against normal teams?!

I fucking HATE myClub with a passion!
Me and my mate will choose say, normal Juventus, and then you'll be "paired against myClub opponent" who's spent ££££'s to get Messi, Neymar, Hullet etc....

We always quit half time as it's pointless with the ridiculous scripting and team strength that's been bought and paid for by the myClub team!

Also, I hope they stop the 1 human player with 2 CPU bullshit - Konami knew about this last year but didn't do anything about it......

I like what I see except for the goalkeepers who seem to have no situational awareness and are still glued to their line - which makes every goal feel meeh.

Hi guys after last nights anti climax, i thought we should take a lighthearted moment....

So I've just watched the streams and read all the information available in regards to PES 2020.

I'm not excited for it at all and I won't be buying on Day One this year. Gameplay looks too similiar to PES 2019. Stiff and dated.

The menus. Jeez. They're still 'a thing'. They're ugly as hell. Then we've STILL got the awful transitions between cut scenes i.e. when it skips to a replay or the ball goes out of play.

I'm not even annoyed or dismayed with Konami and Bhatti these days. I just expect it. Pro Evolution Soccer used to be the best football game around bar none. I used to look forward to it all year.

Now I simply can't be bothered. Oh and efootball? F**king LOL.

Well, hit me with a hammer and call me when I’m ready to accept that this is the year of 2019.

I think it’s quite funny how depressed people are in here. We’re a bunch of mid-aged men who are deeply frustrated of a game who hasn’t been itself since … wait… 2006/2007!

And I’m a mid-aged man who is reading all these frustrations everyday… Wow.

Times up. It’s over. In one way or another, the games are developing in a direction the most of us don’t like. We live in nostalgia - Also myself. I loved those times. Master League. The development of players. The GAMEPLAY. Wow.

But it is over. Maybe there will be a game who will catch us for a month or two, but clearly, the direction is and will be towards online-gaming. As everything else. It’s sad, but it’s not a coincidence that both titles, in general, have been crap for a long time.

For me. I will still be hoping - But I am adapting. I will maybe buy one of them. Maybe both - But I am accepting that the times aren’t coming back. For that, I have Football Manager who still can deliver a fun (SINGLE PLAYER) experience.

Expecting PES to do similar things is like expecting Huddersfield to finish higher in the league than Man City.
But if that's the case and we're reducing it to that level of simplicity, surely you're just saying "PES will always be bad", in which case, why would anyone buy it? PES isn't a football team, you don't "support" a game, you buy it to play it.

Konami are one of the richest gaming companies in the world. Because they're worth £2bn (according to Google) instead of £100bn doesn't mean they can't revolutionise the game. They're CHOOSING not to, to maximise operational profit (because sales never drop, because it's one of just TWO choices of football game, so they don't HAVE to work on it) - THAT'S what's "unfair". Our expectations (as in, us pessimists) are fair.

But as you said, and of course you're right, we can choose to buy it or not to buy it - and lots of us buy it knowing we're going to be disappointed. I made a pact with myself that I'd only buy PES 2019 second-hand so that my money wouldn't be supporting what I see as a poor product. (I bought it hoping that patches would make it better, because that's free.)

This year, I'll hope the other game uses all its licenses for good and finally nails the gameplay (but I know they won't, so I'll end up doing the same thing again).

I've said for a while I think there's a split in the community - A) those who want a great PES, and B) those who want them to take the idea of "most realistic football game" to another level (that belongs in 2019, with the power that consoles have now).

A lot of the (A) guys will be happy every year, but a big portion will say it's not as good - as variable, with as much player identity - as years-old versions. So in theory, those guys could just play their favourite PES games forever (lots do).

The (B) guys have nothing. But if there is ever a "real" gameplay revolution, a lot of the (A) guys might hate it (it might feel closer to FIFA than PES). And that's why it will never change... But it's hard to start hoping for something you'd love, isn't it?

I'm an old man myself with a wife and children. I'm not literally sat here crying over my laptop and I don't expect any of the other guys who post here are actually annoyed or 'depressed' with the state of PES.

But this IS a PES fan's forum so we use it as a platform to discuss the up-and-coming game, to moan about it or to praise it if/when it's good and worth that praise.

The point is. Do any of us really believe that it ever will be a game at that level again? (or maybe with the feeling of)

They should really give us some sort of info on a few things
1 Master League what's new
2 D2s
3 how are they handling the AI (I heard the cheating AI last night)

All other stuff , gameplay etc is just fluff, like watching a football game Vs playing yourself etc

I would like to cry or exalt myself like a child. In fact, we have many white beards or hairs,
let's wait for the demo,
then I hope given that myclub for me can slip into the ass of a monkey, that there are not too many changes for eiditng

I tend to agree. PES isn't integral to Konami's revenue stream, far from it. If it's no longer profitable, they'll just take it out back and shoot it.
Too true. I said before that if microtransactions become banned then PES (sorry, eFootball PES) is dead in the water.

Just come across this, longish interview. Dunno what he says yet (sorry if already posted but haven't seen before):

https://www.gamereactor.eu/video/447203/eFootball+PES+2020+Lennart+Bobzien+Interview/

Edit: am 5 mins in so far, and it's really fucking tedious. Nothing new. Just marketing gibberish. Tiresome.

Edit 2: Only relatively interesting/new bit I thought was about online. At the 10:50ish mark, he talks a very little about online, says they're always looking to focus on that, especially because of the eFootball branding turn. Who knows if he means improving the quality of connections/removing lag/addressing cheats etc.

Also, right at the end, the interviewer asks about "Project 11", which the guy says you'll only hear about during the PES League finals (end of June, when they'll also announce the demo date). I've seen it teased in a couple of places... maybe it's something like a Pro Clubs mode? Dunno.

What do people think about the idea of PES classic? Something like WE9LE remastered with more modern textures, updated squads, rebuilt online play etc. It sounds crazy but that's what people said about World of Warcraft, and now the original game from 2006 is re-releasing this summer to much hype.

Licenses etc will probably stop that.
Otherwise,Pes releasing a remastered 4k Pes 5-6-11-12-13-14 would be anazing

As far as I'm concerned, it's an incremental improvement on 2019, which means my collection of mods via Sider make just as much sense as buying this game, especially if any of the modders plan on releasing kits and squads. Ultimately, thos of us who play offline play PES not for the game out of the box, but rather the game we build out of mods. So, right now 2020 just looks like a mod that doesn't interest me. Between all the Sider visual addons and the infinite gameplay mods by @incas36 you can practically make yourself a PES2020. And people talk about waiting for the next game to be more like PES2013, like PES6, like PES 'X', so then go get that game and download an updated mod! Pretty much every popular PES is updated to the current season. PES can't afford to care about gameplay anymore. They have to compete in the online world. Those of us who play offline seasons and careers now are what people who ONLY played minigames were 15 years ago; a minority. Personally I think PES2019 is the best PES I've ever played along with PES6. After all, PES2019 with mods isn't in any way "broken" like other sports games. So I don't need 2020 and I think many people will feel the same. Just one man's thoughts.

Exactly. I stopped playing Fifa because pro clubs became such a horrible, unbalanced, disgustingly buggy mess. I’m not a fan of American sports, but a quick google, and oh my god, the issues NBA and NFL games have are horrendous.

PES players have actually got it pretty good in comparison to the dross that’s out there.

Yup, I don't think any of our expectations are unrealistic at all. I played PES 13 the other day and apart from Graphics id say very little has really changed. Compare this to other big games that are released every 2-3 years then I think we have a perfect reason to be so frustrated and disappointed. The excuse of "well they are not as a big as fifa" So? they still make a lot of money, they probably make even more money now with the Myclub Micro transactions.

This is Barry/MidniteKid, I believe, replying to my tweet asking about Def AI positioning
Hmm i dunno, you are asking direct question.. He is taking diplomatic answer.. "... were improved especially positioning.. it is hard to tell from early stage.." wait but is it hard to see ? Isn't it obvious shown in monitor/tv in front of him.. ? :JAY:

you guys know the answer though :BYE:

I bought a new PC last week and would like to try it. But I have not played on the PC for years and am totally overwhelmed. Can I buy PES19 as a download and install it via steampowered.com and then use the mods and patches anyway? Or do I need a harddisc version?

I do wish they had shown us something different and improved in the stream vs AI.

However since '15 I've know it wont change (if you are dissappointed about what was shown in E3, please dont get your hopes up for E3 '20... gonna be the same, same entrances, same barcelona, same promises, same: "look we improved *insert meaningless achievement*).

However, I kept thinking to myself that I enjoyed the $20 I paid for PES'19 . I just hope they can fix:

-Positioning (more midfield, less ping-pong)
-tempo and speed (they seem to release demo with good speed, then every month they increase it with patches)
-Scripting
-AI (don't release it with the AI only doing low crosses)
-Fouls & Penalties (one of the streams showed a guy getting bulldozed and the referee didn't give a sh*t)

If they improve these things, I think it can be an enjoyable experience for me. These are difficult to see in human vs human, so I hope the demo can give a better feel. I will probably bite and get this game for a cheap price, for what its worth. Its not a 60 dollar game tho, that's for sure

Tbh, I wouldn't trust a more affirmative or negative answer. All the people on here saying "See, there's still no midfield!" or "it's the same game!" are jumping the gun just as much as those who hype it on Twitter.

To know whether this game has made the kinds of improvements you yourself want, you're going to want to sit down with it for a number of games over time, or chat with somebody who has done that and shares your preferences for what you want from the game.

But why would Konami bother with single player anymore, when as you’ve said MyClub makes them more money than they’ve made in years? Imagine one of those guys who spends, for example, £2k on MyClub. That one man is worth more to Konami than 33 of us ML players. Then if he’s got 4 crazy mates who spend the same, just him and his pals are worth more than 165 of us. From a purely business perspective it makes absolutely perfect sense to focus all your efforts on MyClub.

I do wonder what people expect to change in a football game. It’s not like they can pull a Resident Evil 2 and completely redesign itself. It’s still the same sport, same rules, same camera, and still the same incredibly difficult AI to program.

I’m not saying we should be happy with an average product, not at all. I just struggle to picture what people are expecting to see.

It’s probably just my lack of imagination.

Well, Steam version has also files installed on your hard disk and they can all be modded and patched.. so, yes, you can.

2019 drags the worst of 2018, and it would not be uncommon for 2020 to drag the worst of 2019

LO SIENTO MI INGLES RIDICULOSO

Can't believe that people spends real money on Myclub.
It's pretty fucking easy getting a good team with GP and coins?

Ps any takers in the "Konami PR disaster" drinking game later on?
