eFootball (All Platforms)

Sorry mate I couldn't hear you over the sound of pachinko machines

Ding ding ding. This is the correct answer.

Oh they do care. They absolutely care......about mobile and myclub. Wait it's called dream team now right? I can't keep up lol

They should just have gone full arcade. Like super mega baseball. That would be better than pretending to resemble real football.

As far as the younger generation is concerned, this is really all they know, so they don't really know any better. I blame the executives who decided to introduce a gambling mode to children. It's insidious the way they've managed to normalize constantly paying for a game you've already purchased. 2K is the most notorious for this.

Actually it is not so much the fault of the Executives
Most of the blame lies with us, the gamers themselves.
There are currently few offline games that are sad
People got used to virtual casinos, they reached the point of not criticizing the playability and the optimization of the games, things that were the main thing in the heavy decades

In short, money commands and decides

people who say the game is the same obviously don't play it all the time. it's for sure not the same .. I posted a video showing exactly what is different. you can't do either of those things in the previous update like i did in that video. that's a fact. does that mean it's a great game .?. no. I didn't say that and I understand many are not happy with the direction of the game and company with no offline modes. or masterleague.. but in terms of online 1 v 1 gameplay this is by far konami's first hit in that department. as far as i'm concerned they have never had any good or even playable online gameplay ever before until now. I have played every footie video game since the beginning of time and they never even had the server infrastructure but now they seem to do. it's not on par with EA and FIFA in terms servers but they are no longer 5 years behind them either. I can find game after game all night long with no lag in efootball. first time ever in any konami online footie game that has ever happened.

things that are absolutely for sure different with this update.. some new updated kits. THey updated the NEtherland kits for example.
dribbling is easier and or more control
friendlie lobbies. wow konami actually let us play our friends now for once lol
automatic defending for human controlled players is toned down some.
it's very easy to see and feel the 2 gameplay changes. both these changes are good imo
I also feel passing is fucked with. and i'm not sure if that is better. I gotta play more which I will this weekend to see

also, if you didn't play vs others online and commenting the gameplay hasn't changed then that's why i would bet someone think it's the exact same gameplay. you are not even going to probably notice those changes I mentioned playing vs the computer AI. at least I didn't notice the changes until i played divisions. i first played current events vs the AI after the update to get dybala. then after that once I went into division match.. I really noticed the difference. the biggest change konami did which I like is they are not helping bad human defenders as much. They made it not as easy to defend and easier to dribble. previous update .. the computer AI helped bad human players way to much... Konami most of heard this complaint and tweaked it for the better. at least I think it's better this way. I want more human defending as possible. = more fun. I hate when Konami help out bad players to be able to beat good players more and that's exactly what the last update was doing the most I seen yet

For the target demographic, as Chris said, aka the younger generation my point was and will always be they haven't known gaming to be anything else. So yes I will blame the people in charge and not them. If you've spent your life in a cave, you don't know what the sun feels like. If you've only been playing games in the 2010s and primarily been doing so on mobile, then you don't know what full fleshing out gaming experiences, now the experiences of old, feel like.

Ultimately people are responsible for their actions and this will always be a chicken or the egg sorta debate. I just think that in regards to the younger generation, their minds aren't exactly as strongly as equipped to not get sucked into the virtual casino that people haven gotten used to, especially if that is their only point of reference in gaming.

I think about this often. I honestly think that the time is perfect for a true gameplay shift - myClub and FUT have had the same core gameplay focus for years (pick-up-and-play, 1v1, getting dumber and dumber).

I honestly think if suddenly they had hyper-realistic gameplay, and there was a new kind of skill-gap that was based on reality (i.e. not just focusing on the 1v1 battles but the team battles, having to learn where your weak links are, having to do sensible passes with poor players and only using the "through-pass" button with someone who stands a chance of hitting a decent pass)...

I genuinely think it would be such a breath of fresh air that everyone would say "why the hell have we been playing cartoon football for years when we could have had this".

Or, maybe I'm being naïve. Both real possibilities.

The reality of efootball on mobile right now.

1 stadium.

PS1 graphics.

basic watered down version of the consoles gameplay to adjust to primitive mobile controls.

These executives really thought it would work. They really did.

As i said many times before there lies the biggest issue. The board at Konami do not care about consoles offline. They only care about microtransactions and subscription like cash cow digital media and slot machines.

This silence regarding offline modes simply grows more alarming as months go by. This esports stuff is nowhere near enough, this game will not survive without its community, nobody wants to play with Piemonte BN, they want to create their own team and add their personality to the experience. What we have now is dull and lifeless shell.

Not only poor gameplay and content is what bothers me, also the fact that they seem to have to start making new modes like the offline modes from zero at this time in the game’s lifespan
It is all progressing so incredibly slow and not forget they took a year and a half break to focus and “next gen”
Anyway “Kalulu got his facescan” so we can all be happy now, right? 😉

What baffels me is, they keep updating settings.exe when new patch comes out and yet keep locking resolution options. I dont get it, is it really that hard to give native resolution for PC ?

Mate I am right there with you. And if you're naive with your fancy i, then so am I.

I tried this method and the github depotdownloader app method and receive the same error

Depot download failed : missing encryption key for depotID 1673169 (Blocked)

Using app branch: 'Public'.
Got depot key for 1673169 result: Blocked

Changing depotid from 1673169 to 1665461 make it download something (but that might be the first version...I don't know).
No it's downloading something
Anyway thanks to @majorpain

I sussed out how to get old versions from Steam for the PC version, well, I did a few weeks ago. Quite a bit involved, but if anyone or enough people want me to detail it, i.e. I will try again this weekend and note what I had to do, I will write up a detailed guide.

Luckily, with eFootball Steam allows you to still use the older versions, it doesn't force an auto-update.

Look here: I tried to download old files but it says they are blocked:

Did'nt work. It just redownloaded last version

It does not work. When downloading a log of errors is shown and download is stopped.
try this:
no guarantee, as I am downloading it now and it is the full 38gb game so takes at least 3 hours for me

type in any browser:
steam://nav/console
it wil ask to open bootsrap. do it. in the line at the bottom insert:

Always gotta give it a go for yourself. Always.

This.

I play with a more traditional and zoomed in cam and just found it all rather okay going, to be honest. The more I play this the more retro feeling a game it is, and don't have a huge issue with that, especially seeing as I currently rather enjoy FIFA too if I want a more high-tech offering.

What I do like (and appreciate mileage will vary from person to person) is the urgency, and just overall aggressive and arsehole-y way in which the AI can play, though that is not to say that they never take their foot of the gas a bit in possession, as they do in my experience; nice ebb n' flow, really.

They properly get in about it and although the collision system needs work regards variety I actually rather like that bullying and combative sensation when in a tight situation.

I see what you're saying but what you describe, for me, just gets exhausting with the AI. I appreciate some urgency and challenge but because of how much faster they made everything it's just relentless and unenjoyable for me.

it's pointless and frustrating. It keeps downloading the last exe no matter whicj manifest you choose.
I wonder how can you guys say the game is the same. There is evidently no ball protection anymore and the passing is overpowered. And cpu defenders once again are maniac robots. No wonder konami don't give a shit, if even you guys can't see these differences. Game has been simplified. Just to sum up. And for me it sucks. 2.0 was pretty good with some slight modifications

Not sure if it works on new patch, but have you tried dropping the speed?
It makes a significant difference on previous patch. You have more time mainly, so AI moves towards your players much slower, relative to your reaction time.

Agree. And with -1 speed you lose a lot of dynamics. This year was not needed to play -1. Game was ok

I see what you mean. But you can't keep a ball, protect it and enjoyably think and build up as before

If they multi-press you, pass, unless you are particularly good at dribbling and/or the player you have the ball with has high tight possession stats. If just one player trying to nip away at you, use shield.

Appreciate your take, fully. For me it was all rather too instense and relentless initially but was one of those things that as I adjusted and started to get a wee grip on it all it starts to *feel* slower. But again, appreciate folks patience for that will differ from person to person. Not that I am claiming that patience is some virtue with this game or that it is secretly brilliant and that if you ain't getting it you are doing it wrong. At the end of the day there has to be the will to do so, and that is down to the individual and what they are wiling to tolerate, as well as first impressions.

Game is crying out for single player content that has a purpose. I suspect that *maybe* folk will be a little more forgiving/patient if they are playing with goals (in more way than one) to aim for. As it stands if someone logs on and tries out a match of zero consequence against the AI and it feels off then there isn't exactly anything there to keep them going at it.

Graphics in PES/eFootball are always better in offline games compared to online, and I never understood why.

Stuff like crowd and adboard animations, for example, are downgraded for no apparent reason.
