eFootball (All Platforms)

*THIS POST WILL RECEIVE A LOT OF DISLIKES*

I just played around 10 matches of eFootball on PC.
-Yeah, the graphics are terrible, BUT the lighting is quite nice. The resolution and no anti-aliasing makes the game looks like a PSP game.
-Crowd looks very low quality, indeed.
-Net physics are just non existent.
-Turf texture is bad, or at least it looks bad due to resolution problems
-Yes, there is a 60FPS cap on pc, which kills the smoothness

But about gameplay....
.... i beg to disagree guys...
I quite like the game. I can see the potential and the innovation there.
Let me say some positives.
+ Controlling and mastering R2 trigger gives a lot of freedom to dribble and confuse the opponent. Its hard not to press the button all the way down, but if you focus and experiment with it, it is rewarding.
The positives:
+ Ball feels like a separate entity, and rolls nicely. Pes 20/21 ball's physics was somewhat like a bowling ball sometimes.
+ I liked a lot the goalkeeper deflections
+ Nice player models!
+ A lots of animation and (thank god) animation transitions are added! Movement is much smoother
+ Pace is gorgeous, i think its the best i have seen in a soccer game.
+ I liked the standing tackle, but the unpolished collisions make it look bad and unrealistic sometimes
+ I liked the dribbling and the smoothness of the movement
+ Nice momentum/inertia implementation
+ Shooting is fine, nothing special, but not bad. Low shots are good, try them
+ Overall freedom and smoothness.

The negatives i noticed are (apart from graphics):
-Collisions need to be polished... a lot...(tons of bugs)
-L2 in defending needs to be nerfed
-Some awareness issues (players let the ball pass by them)
-Lot of bugs regarding

To sum it up.
eFootball has somewhat a new approach to soccer. It rewards more tactical, slow gameplay. If you are prone to glue the R2 down and constantly and pass/shoot, you will disappointed. To me it's a step forward to simulation.
PLEASE, really please, give some constructive criticism as feedback to konami and not phrases like "Its shit, its a turd"
Try to see behind the bad graphics, focus on the new elements of gameplay.
I know that PES 20/21 is very familiar to you and you are very accustomed to its style and flaws. Animation and controlling players in PES 20/21 is too stiff and heavy.
efootball 2022 gave me some PES 2014 vibes where a tons of potential was burried due to some pure execution.

So, again, please, give efootball some time, try to unlearn the approach of PES 20/21, and above all give some constructive criticism back to KONAMI.

Don't get me wrong, i don't say that efootball at its current state is good, but it is way far from "utterly shit, turd, abomination".

PS: Remember how advanced and next gen was PES 2014 in many aspects (physics, lighting, ball, animations) and after the bad reviews and negative criticism, KONAMI released PES 2015 which was a more playable, but clearly mutilated and more linear old gen game.

I have to say, the 3 minutes I managed to play so far, it felt almost exactly like the early pes 2014 build.

Now watch the fucking space, gentlemen..
All the clips shown on twitter, players clashing, getting all tangled, stuck together... you know whats coming, right?? You know how they will fix this?? They will dumb everything right down, make the ball magnetic and on rails again and remove physicality.

The one thing thats at least interesting is the new dribbling mechanic, there seems to be some burst finally

Passing is even slower than last year, so boring

Graphics i dont really care, but grass should be doable at least

Maybe they should have just made the fox engine game cross gen and then ftp like LITE was and call it a day. Because this just sounds like a mess...

Like with pes 14. Although that game still survived in it's original form in some way.

But yeah, expect it to become pes 16 before long.

I honestly implore everyone NOT to watch this space. It's dead. The ones who enjoy it, sure, enjoy it and talk about it all you like.

The rest of us... Get it out of your head. This has been coming since June 2020 and some of us STILL had to play it to believe it.

Pretend it doesn't exist. Stop looking at it and hoping it looks different the next time. It's not going to get back to PES-levels of football recreation ever again. It's not called PES any more for a reason...

...IT IS A MOBILE GAME. A fruit machine that barely functions. It's not for us. Let the people it's for have it. Move on.

If you need PES in your life... There's a back-catalogue that contains some of the greatest eras of football that ever existed. Get an Xbox Series S, switch dev mode on and download all your favourites. Rediscover your youth.

Boy oh boy. I am going to completely have to re-write the script I kinda prepared to make my video come out a little faster. Wow. What a miserable turd, and it has nothing to do with any of the new stuff by the way. The feel -which is what made PES great, is completely gone here. Words fail me to describe what happened here. This game has absolutely nothing to do with everything that made PES great. They completely scrapped the gameplay and rebuilt it from scratch, and everything feels wrong. Nothing feels right. Nothing feel proportional to my input or to the player momentum. I feel that my player run isn't contributing anything to the final outcome of any kicks. Player movement on the ball is a mess. Off the ball? Extremely programmed and mechanical, with zero context to the opposition. They just mechanically move to their predesignated spots. While I'm on the ball, off-ball player movement is nowhere as nuanced or complex as it used to be in PES.

At this point, I suggest they take the rest of the year off, and work to bring back PES's feel on unreal.

The additions are in the right direction, but god what a turd of an execution. Don't get me started on player responsiveness. Too many negative points to cover. Sigh.
sorry mate, don't know what you expected when you saw that they reduced tactics to 5 preset roles. just shows the game is a shell and completely scripted to even be as playable as it is now

Downloaded it last night. Haven't play it yet as it was too late. But I'm sure it'll be good, since SpankMe PleaseMom said it was great and proved it with an Excel sheet with lots of goody scores, so there's that and I'm not worried at all.

So they said only 9 teams?
Yet i can select all of the English Teams Serie A Serie B and so on..
Playing with Napoli right now..

Do they even know what they released here?

Barebones game with few good ideas, like the new dribbling and pace system, that absolutely doesn't excuse the sad state the game released. Could be a nice game in a few years. Until then, either play FIFA or older PES games. There's a reason they made it F2P, asking money for this would be a crime in some countries. Just move on is what i would say, It literally has exibition mode only.

Just a total lack of investment or r&d in new technology. It’s the base of earlier build of pes(probably 14 with a unreal skin).

Demonstrates that just don’t want to do anything new, just recycle the same predetermined gameplay. There just in a endless cycle now of remixing the same tired ideas and gameplay.

There biggest guilt is milking a tired IP.Milking there fans and using past glories and glossing up the same tired technology.

There’s little doubt this is about making as much money as possible with minimal investment in gameplay.I genuinely believe they think they can market and sell content for this purely off the back of player likenesses and because it’s football.

Even a casual gamer will see this as just hollow and something that belongs in another era.

What an absolute fucking joke. It took them an extra year to make THIS?
You need time to take something that used to be good and praised, and properly undermine/ruin/break it enough to be sure that there's no turning back.
It's not something you do in a week.

Having spent a substantial amount of time with FIFA and then Efootball, I would like to note some things.

FIFA is still FIFA for better or worse, it is slightly slower than last year but still does not come near to recreating the 'feel' of football like Pro Evo has done in the past few years. It exhibits strange glitches and AI behaviour, shooting is overpowered from distance and angles. I can list so many problems here but there is no point because no matter its faults, this time around FIFA when compared to eFootball, it is like a masterpiece.

eFootball immediately offends by offering only a 5 minute match for local exhibition matches, this solidifies my thoughts that this 'release' should be considered nothing more than a demo with a larger selection of teams and some online functionality and modes. The game is not done, it lacks fundamental mechanics all Pro Evo players have utilised over the years.

Teammate pressure is non existent, the tactical options are ripped out, the menu colour scheme offends, the team management screen is archaic, menus in general are horrible and slow. Gameplay suffers from poor AI positioning and coverage, weak passing power boggles the mind, shooting feels off as well, it hurts to play this game. You are struggling to wrestle control away from the AI decision making within the code.

Through balls are so overpowered and nearly impossible to intercept unless you pack the midfield.
Players constantly fail to track runners, the ball or generally cover areas of potential danger. There is a noticible delay from when you take control of a player and when they start sprinting in the right direction and speed, especially when defending space. Flicking the right stick to change player feel very unreliable now as well.

Graphically it is underwhelming to a high degree. Nothing much to add here, just watch some footage of it.

Playing online, the connection is quite good, barely any lag but the gameplay issues are just so in your face you can not be left anything but stunned at the incomptence on display.

This release feels like a Demo/Alpha they released to combat the release of FIFA, with more substantial updates planned in the coming months it seems like the only likely scenario considering how bad it plays when compared to PES2021 (which is a wonderful game in my estimation).

There are some positives here in terms of gameplay but there is no point in listing them when they are covered in a sea of mud.
