eFootball (All Platforms)

In 2015 I was waiting on the release of MGS 5. I remember reading articles from the CEO of Konami back then stating the future of gaming is mobile he mentioned it in many interviews. Then the fallout and disagreements with MGS creator Hideo Kojima he new the direction they were taking and it was not for him. Then soon after the cancelled Silent Hill. Konami are not focused on traditional gaming business, Mobile is were the money maker is in your hands.

We can take the positives from gameplay but at the end of the day it will be a wash down game to suit the mass costumer base on mobile.

I don't think it's necessarily mobile being the key here, certainly a way to get more players into the product if FIFA aren't doing much with mobile, but it seems Konami think that the micro-transaction model will be the best way to make money going forward. If your game is F2P, you're certainly going to get money people playing it rather than through a yearly paid for update. I know it works well for other games like Fortnite and Apex Legends this model, but no idea how much eFootball will bring in going in this direction. I checked how much Apex Legends I played the other day and I'd sunk in 750 hours without spending anything on it. I'm still pretty hopeless at the game compared to others, but I get plenty of enjoyment out of it. Thankfully others are happy to throw money at it for cosmetics and other premium content. Just not sure how this will work for eFootball. I'll be happy to pay for a ML add on though.

Games completely dead on arrival. Time to pack up your PES belongings & leave after reading this 😭🤦
Now it's too late mate. You should have already packed things, since at least two months ago. Or 21st of July..
Jokes aside, i can't see other perspectives, except for the accessibility and the microtrans, how mobile gaming is the future.

Trying to enjoy games on mobile and the only games I can are, some ATB RPGs, and from emulators again only Turned Based RPGs, puzzle games, adventures, card games.

But for the name of God, I can't play or enjoy anything that needs Real-Time action.

PS: Do you think that Master League will be totally rebuilt this yeahahahahahshahahaha.... This was a joke :)

I'd like to know (just for the sake of curiosity) what does he precisely mean with no unique player, no player id or whatever it is, cause as of now reading the bit of the interview and the context in which he said it, it just sounds a bit obscure if not nonsense. The guy asked if there is any unique dribbling of shooting for each player and he replied that "controls are the same for all players". But it always was the case.. it's not like Ronaldo or Messi had a particular combo or button just for them to unlock something special.

Or maybe I'm overthinking and this guy is just badly parroting whatever the tech guys says him.

Dude did you forget elastico dribble with 3xL1 in old PES, for Ronaldinho and some others?

Same combo, different action for specific players.

I read it as no unique animations for any players at this stage, so all players will move and kick the same.

They ported the old game to UE5 and it's pretty obvious, and for that you don't need two or three years of development.
I bet this was a decision they took mid development of PES 2022, they scrapped that game and instead opted for what we see now ( Kei Masuada exit must have been linked to this also).

The UE5 scaling ability I will say is impressive, actually we already seen the game running on mobile on some of the first trailers ( there's mix footage of the game running in various hardwares one those trailers, the lack of shadows in some footage is a dead giveaway of the mobile version).

While i's impressive it's also unfortunate at the same time, because it's still running on mobile hardware and there's still limitation for what it can be achieved. This hinders the development of the next gen and pc versions who have to be dumb down to service the mobile version. And as I said before to a certain degree today the mobile version is the lead version of the game, because it's the one that dictates the development course of the game.

So far all we have seen is a rushed job of a game that simply isn't ready te be showed to the public in present state, let alone be released this month.

I remember it of course. But there wasn't anything like that in the Fox engine era.. or am I wrong? At best players with unique movements would perform skills available for anybody else with their own set of animations. Right? I'll stand corrected if that's not the case as I barely used skills from 14 onwards.

If eFootball had been a standalone, physical release game, I think it's fair to say we would have got a PES 2022 season update again this year as eFootball is far from a finished game. eFootball will never technically be a finished game though, but a game that keeps on growing and evolving. I personally wouldn't be happy if they delayed any sort of release of eFootball by a year just for all the modes to be there when it is released. I always looked forward to the demos being released, so treating eFootball the same way. At least it looks like we'll get regular updates to expand this over the coming months. And if they're launching its eFootball tournament this year, they must be confident they'll have something that's at least acceptable before the end of the year. But we'll just have to wait and see I guess!

Yeah dude I know you remember, just made a salty joke, how much the game regressed from generation to generation.

As for fox era, I am not sure, I think there is just a success rate, depending on the player, but i can't say for sure, cause I have AUTO FEINTS on in my settings, I think you must have it Off, so everyone performs the same skills with the R-stick. And I use them rare too.

The same animations for years now, damn am I tired of it! Same goes for several other aspects. Man… :((
There's a small glimpse at the evolution, with all the technology and investments it's certainly going in the right direction...

Volumes, such simple comparison and it speaks volumes! :SHAKE:

TBH this horror show is quite something to watch....the slow painful death of a franchise being drip fed by leaks, phone capture footage in 2021 etc, abysmal marketing & a so called PES Messiah trying to spin a square peg into a round hole. It's actually becoming quite comical 🤣

Konami have become the biggest joke in the history of videogames & they are literally torturing themselves to death over the internet. I'm sure eFootball will make money in their chosen market but their (Konami's) legacy has been tarnished forever.

I honestly think your looking at it from the wrong perspective , it's disappointing from a PES fan of old but they will make a ton of money from this at a fraction of the cost. They've done their homework and this is a purely business decision.

PES2011's UI is probably the most sophisticated looking UI Konami has ever made, PES2012 and PES2013 were slight downgrades in this regard, especially PES2013, but they were also decent in their own way, all of them were intuitive and functional too.

Seriously, what happened? Even with all of the shortcomings PES had at the time, one thing we could count on is that the overall look of things would be sophisticated and stylish, which made the game not only feel very finished, but also very professional, that helps a lot, even though gameplay and modes will always be more important, one cannot simply underestimate the importance that looks have on someone's impressions.

I like to play around with graphic design sometimes, as a hobby, if you asked me to recreate the screenshot on the left of PES2011's menu, it'd probably take me quite some time and it wouldn't look as good, but if you asked me to recreate the screenshot on the right it'd probably take me a few minutes, that's the problem.

I understand all this, it plainly obvious what they're doing. It still doesn't excuse the absolute laughing stock they've become to anyone outside the mobile gaming community.

For them to make a ton of money they have to keep gamers interested in the game from day 1 and for many, many months after the launch and honestly I doubt they can. A F2P model is incredibly difficult to keep people interested in. It could all go horribly wrong for them pretty quickly.

biggest thing in the early versions was always that the Players felt unique, now they have much more running animations, but they all feel the same to me when controlling them, CPU is even worse, i cant remember one dribbling CPU Messi tried against me

They had big plans with PES 2013, i remember Ronaldo had his unique shooting animation, not just Freekick, but everything was gone the next year with Fox Engine
