eFootball (All Platforms)

Konami must be going crazy thinking about Messi not being in the game at launch.

The star athlete of the entire game WON'T be in it until we get an offline patch months later....yikes.

I'm not the most informed on how partner clubs affect what, but why won't he be in? He's a PES ambassador anyway isn't he? I don't think they use Messi in their marketing and imagery just because he's at Barcelona - A Partner club, right?

Also, isn't PSG licensed with PES as of PES 2021? So they could still portray him in PSG colours right?

Or did I miss something and they've abolished depicting any club team and all players must be shown in those ghastly yellow and blue eFootball kits?

As I see it: PSG are not one of the 9 teams in the game at launch it sounds like there won't be more teams added until a bit later. Now, it does say in "Autumn" that the team building modes will come (Myclub) so maybe he'll then be in the game around October. But PES is launching with only the partner clubs to start so Messi shouldn't actually be there. But Konami could add a 10th team (PSG) just to have Messi but maybe what they pitched to partner clubs was that the clubs would be heavily featured in the new game for months. So PSG being there (esp as they are an EA partner) doesn't line up brand or sponsorship wise.

don't worry, with that speed Konami update the Teams, Messi will be playing at Barca until 2022...

Do you regard PES2021 an improvement over PES2020? I certainly don't.
With all due respect to people who like pes2020 (i liked it when it was the latest version of Pes back in 2019), there is no doubt that 2021 was a big improvement over 2020 (without being a totally different game). For me pes2021 season update was what pes2020 should have been with particular improvements with shooting, passing, error and ai attaching variety. Im probably one of the few here that wished pes2022 simply reworked on pes21 season update, improving the important things such as error and shooting variety, increasing player positioning (particularly in midfield and defense) - whilst continuing to improve the number of animations and variety of animations. Animations, the way players run and move, including player models are kick ass for me - something pes20-21 has done so much better than Fifa. If pes2022 simply worked on building from pes2021 + more variety of animations + improved next gen graphics, id be ecstatic. Thats the only thing that bums me out about the new engine. Great that it will make things easier long term, but as it appears, it also means a total rebuild. But to be honest, i dont really believe that Konami have totally rebuilt this game.. they'd be mad not to use some of the great work they implemented into pes19-21etc. Back to the original question - without doubt pes2021 is a huge improvement over pes2020.. and the pc mods (patches and gameplay) have allowed further improvments (shout out to Holland for kicking some major gameplay ass!!)

I respect the Aussiepesfan option, I personally don't think that PES 2020 and PES 2021 are that different, yeah PES 2021 is a better game than 2020, but I don't see this big improvement. But ...their HUGE BUUUUUUUUT... I think any, I mean ANY PES fan MUST have PES 2021, on disck and box copy for PS4 or Xbox.. after all, that is the last PES game, ever! You need to have it!

I couldn't disagree more. I've recently and reluctantly returned to PES 2020 because of the generic and dull feeling of the ai. Players like Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo play and react like amateurs when cpu controlled. Literally no creativity near the box and easily dispossessed. Just compare cpu v cpu matches for both games and the differences are clear for anyone to see.

As for gameplay mods they do improve gameplay but the console owners don't have that luxury so they're stuck with fundamental gameplay issues.

Yeah, and those rich boys goes in to the internet making fake videos asking you to get a early job and find one with fast money and give them to poor people. And they lied. Videogames are 💩 for one reason, they want a job today, get profit without moving a muscle.

What intrigued me in the past to play PES and to be addicted to it I can resume it in three factors: 1) immersive gameplay mechanics where every match was feeling different, 2) strong in game customization and edit flexibility, 3) a gameplan screen with elaborated team/individual strategy & tactics. Being mostly a PC player first I started with FIFA 97-2002, and then when I first encountered PES3 I never looked back, enjoying it year after year, playing it religiously until the last unfortunate news.

Without a doubt, the golden era for me was the PES 3-6 era, then also having very good memories with PES 2010 and 2013 from its third generation, and from the FOX engine I think I mostly enjoyed the games from 2015 to 2017 and the last two games 2020 and 2021. I also saw that from 2015 the game was taking more and more the "myClub" route and that wasn't ok for me because they started to neglect those three factors that I posted at the top, and also not improving the offline game modes, UI and commentary. That was a sign that they started the "microtrasactions casino slot machine route", and year after year they didn't cared about the fundamentals of what made this game great in the first place, but just about the in game monetization scheemes.

I'm here in this thread mostly to pay respect for what PES really was for me and what offered me during my last 18 years, and I'm preety sure this "free to play" travesty called eFootball that will be released will not be something that I will care of at all, because I'm not an "android play store buy coins" guy, or to pay a fee to play as a specific team or have a player, enter in a casino spin roulette, etc. And for this change I blame mostly the new casual audience of consumers that encourage those type of behavior, and with that the end of PES. RIP

I didn't buy 21 and the thought crossed my mind as it's the last pes now. Thank god, only for a second, I quickly came to my senses. At the end of the day it's not worth it. Terrible football game. It is NOT PES 6, which many consider the end of the golden era. 21 is just the last bad pes. The end of a terrible era.

There is a reason PES died and the state of the last few games had something to do with it, lol.
You're just wrong. Vanilla game is not as good as old PES, indeed, or shall I say not as FAIR. But I remember you that in PES 6 players had only 8 directions to run to and felt basic. Now this PES has in count so many amount of things, and with the right tweaks it can become probably the best and only true football SIM I've played so far.

If you don't believe me, just download Hostile last exe, and go ahead with everything in manual except shooting (go for advanced). Go for the third difficulty level and get yourself a good turf and illumination mod. Turn off all the innecesary HUD (map, players name and stamina on the bottom of the screen) and go and play a match.

It does feel like real football and COM is quite fair, kindoff. It needs good amount of skill with the sticks though, since the game is quite sensitive to the inputs at the time of controlling the ball, you want to do short movements on the stick and keep them as fast and delicate as possible, otherwise the ball might rebound too much.

Is quite much an incredible game and very enjoyable. You can outrun defenders, go past them... Just amazing.

Wanna say something for all of you guys saying that PES is dead... Let's wait till it releases and see which gameplay does it have. Maybe is not as bad as we think... And maybe is easier for modders to toy with it and get better mods. Is all to be seen, guys. Don't loose faith.

No, I have a different opinion than you. I mean the AI alone is hardly an opinion but I'm fine filing it under opinion than argue about it now.
And sorry to say, but it is a wrong opinion. I mean, think as you want, but it is a fact that any modern PES is a more complex game with more detailed dribbling and passing that lets you do things you couldn't do before where moves were much more robotic.

Different thing is gameplay balance and how they were unable to do a balanced AI. But again, try the mod I tell you, and you will be blasted. As I said, modern PES have much more potential than old ones, specifically potential for being realistic, but are less polished, specially in terms of AI balance, and thus create a big frustration in the player. But I'd absolutely play a newer PES modded much more than a vanilla old one.

. I think any, I mean ANY PES fan MUST have PES 2021, on dick and box copy for PS4 or Xbox..
On dick????????? :) :D :P

I personally stay on what I said before. Both games are two of the same kind with little differences. Some things 2021 fixed from 2020, but broke some others.

So comparing both games, which are two siblings, you loose something you earn something.

Sometimes it's wiser to ignore certain things than respond but oftentimes I'm not a wise man, that back and forth retorting was certainly not on my plans for the day & it's over. :)

If there wasnt myclub, every game online would be PSG vs PSG
This is true

About adding PSG to the 9 team €footbqll demo, maybe they only have PSG licenced via Ligue 1 and can't use PSG separately without the other French teams? Easy solution surely is to add the Argentina NT to the available teams... assuming the haven't lost that licence too

Btw EA are going to go after Ligue 1 exclusivity now aren't they!
