eFootball (All Platforms)

It makes no difference to the end result but I do wonder if Konami devs were actually making a next generation version of PES and that's why we saw the Messi thing they released a while back, however the Konami bigwigs decided they couldn't justify the cost (maybe Covid played a part also) and canned it during the development stage and asked them to make this glorified mobile game instead.

If we're honest it was only a matter of time before this happened. Konami said years ago it was moving its focus to mobile games and PES somehow managed to stay as a console game for a couple more years before finally being turned into a mobile game this time round.

As an adult I totally understand companies have no loyalty to their customers but it's still a slap in the face seeing this nonsense after many customers stayed loyal and bought some truly awful games over the years to support and keep PES going. The only positive for me is that at least I haven't been able to buy a PS5 with all the stock issues, now PES is dead I'm in no rush to do so.

Here's your beloved mobile game:

Neymar doesnt seem to belong to the same dimension of the field. Clipping, no deformation, no physical interaction

I'm no longer a gamer but I fell in love with PES when it was ISS on the SNES around 1995.
When it went to PES on PS1 it was a level we had only dreamt of over the years as kids (especially for those who grew up with Match Day or Peter Beardsley soccer on the Spectrum).
Then PES2 followed and then 3, 4, 5 and 6 were just as great.
PES08 was odd and I did love it in the end but PES09 is where for me it took a downturn and I bought FIFA for the first time since FIFA94 on Mega drive.
My mates all ditched PES after PES09 and if we played we all played the earlier PES's.
PES had that magic that for all EAs bells and whistles FIFA just never had - still doesn't. FIFA was always felt soulless (my dad, son and daughter all play fifa so ive played it)
Me and my mates no longer game but we all still talk about the days (around 1997-99) of going round a selected parents evening of a weds evening and playing round robins (there were about 8 of us) and creating a league. It was excellent.
I even remember buying a version of PES for the PS1 that had all the fake names but you could go into Game and buy a disc for a £1, load it up, save to memory card, put the game in and you had all the real names and kits. Magic!
Such a shame for the people who still love PES but all things come to an end unfortunately and without the modders this game would've died years ago.
Since PES started to only care about online gamers (same with fifa and UT) the games are no longer made for the people who appreciate a hard fought 0-0 or 1-0 but rather those who like high scoring games and a rainbow flick goal.
Those wanting proper Master League (and career mode) upgrades were dreaming. The companies make no money from that mode so they will never put time into it.
RIP PES - the best football game ever. Thanks for the memories.

Just one thing about Seabass : do you remember when he said "Offline should be prioritary to Online, people plays between friends".
No one even here were okay : online was the priority here. As Fifa got it.
Some talked about servers quality, others modes... But it was like that on every PES website i was on (WE are PES too). Now since after FIFA 14 and FUT, people/fans like us understood how offline was in fact really important.

To me BOTH are. But i don't play Myclub for example, i would play division and i agree it's funnier to play against an human. But if they don't try to make the AI more "human" with variety... That's a bit normal.
No big problem against AI as i don't play like a fool to PES (very rarely : i edit A LOT) but i understand some of you.

Iam in Gdansk right now for holidays with some mates... Oh lord I woke up with some hangover and have to read this entire Desaster...

We had talked about if UE 4.2 or 5, meta humans, cointoss, real next gen, photorealism in the past... 😂

But Konami did Konami things and F*** us in the A**

I think you don't care too much or have interest in modern PES games... but @MadbaLL I still wanted to just invite you here and look at that new "eFootball" trailer and what do you think about it? Also @Fabri55 thoughts? I know you both will not like it at all, just wanted to see thoughts, no one likes it here

hi friend, I can tell you that I have all pes from 2016 to 2020.
I have not played with it much because limits soon emerge that make me bored, especially regarding the offline modes and cpu behavior.
however I will give the demo a chance as always.

to me it was game over already since i saw the amount of scripting/handicap whatever in the last games

im very calm and the last versions made me break a controller or two, which for me its an absurd, online and offline were trash and you needed to try a billion exe and dt mods to be somewhat enjoyable

so it all comes down to the gameplay, if its a good, fun and playable game its a win because last versions werent

And still the greatest football game of all time its the 20 DEMO

I would absolutely love to read an interview with Seabass at this point. Maybe he wouldn't even care, now that he's moved on from PES. But given his principles of football and what his team were trying to do... I'd love to hear what he thought of all this.

Perhaps he'd just say that online play is the future, and the best thing they can do is make an online football playground. Who knows.

EDIT: He was working on PES as recently as 2016 - I wonder if he's still there...

Lol that's my old twitter account

Ok, tech people. Is it even possible that you have a game that is built with the next gen consoles in mind and then being able to do the exact same things on a mobile device?

In that IGN article he seems to say that. But isn't he just using twisting his words? I get that it might be possible graphic wise but gameplay mechanics? In my mind you have to skip a lot of possibilities from the next gen console to make it work on a mobile device but I'm no tech guy soo...
No. Unless the mobile version is extremely shitty, usually compensated by lower frame rates and simpler animations.

Hello Sir,

I am out of the loop. Why is everyone angry? I saw the trailer and it looks okay. I like the focus on 1on1, looks like we can finally dribble past players using body weight and physics. Also its still Konami who does the game so for me it looks just like brand/name change. What's problem?

Kind Regards.

When I logged on I wondered what was going on so I YouTubed the trailer.

Man, I had to double check it wasn’t a fan made thing.

It was IGN’s channel. That voice over 😂.

it’s like one of those PDF readers hah.

Absolutely terrible. A much bigger train wreck than I was expecting and I was ready for a huge one!

Everything looks much worse than 2021 gameplay wise .

Also, the grass looks terrible. It’s flat & the wrong colour. How hard can it be 😂

The following screenshot is from the official "season update" announcement Konami made a year ago:

"We recognise that many of you are enthusiastic for new myClub and Master League content,
and we are also excited to share that large updates are in the works for both of these modes."

It's so hard not to be angry when you read that.

It 100% feels like the trailer was made, Covid happened, plans were ditched, and here we are.

Can't quite believe we're sat here in 2021 with football bigger than ever & all we have is an ice skating card collecting game & a F2P abomination of a once great series as our choices for football games.....

What in the actual fuck is happening to this genre!! I remember being so hyped before the PS3 launched thinking about all the possibilities for football games & look what it's become. Sad sad times.

I can't believe they'll let us wait until the end of August for new info. The backlash is too big and they need to deal with it, even a small reassurance on the master league/BAL. Just something

It's a shame that those great games aren't sold officially anymore. Fortunately most of them can be acquired by other means now.

But Fifa 16, and Pes 20 are screwed. These two games haven't been "anti-drm ed".

I checked origin and steam and looks like neither of these two games are sold anymore either. Fortunately I bought fifa 16 already and I got Pes 21. But I never managed to get a copy of Pes 20, so this means PES 20 is non-existent for me.
Keep in mind DRMs expire a few years into the future. Not sure Konami will go through the hassle of removing them.

They were whole 1 year in silent, so don't be surprised

I should of waited till it finished.
Oh man, they’ve killed it.
Even my 6 year old daughter was laughing at the “ you are powerful “
Fucksake. No Hope for a footy game now.

Tbh, the moment I read that when it was released I smelt the growing stench of bullshit….what I did not reckon with was the fact there is actually no game at all. This is a complete shambles but some one somewhere at executive level has simply decided to ditch the rea;istic presentation spouted and gone with an easy code write, available for profit through volume and easy to pay for content.

I honestly think the initial intent was for a better looking PES 21 with some bells and whistles, but something in the development cycle has gone wrong imo, so it’s reverted to this obscene model.

For me there was 100% a change of plan, I believe the efootball direction was always the plan but not the f2p, full cross gen and not the dumbed down gameplay for consoles to fit mobiles. I would bet it happened somewhere in the last 6 - 12 months after realising the scope of work and cost of a true next gen game was going to be too much, knowing they couldn’t afford to balls up another generation/ engine switch.

Therefore, there was a last minute ditching of that project and plan b took form - a quick copy & paste job.

No offline modes. Only 9 teams available to play with and myClub to grab money from you.
