eFootball (All Platforms)

The end of a once glorious era of footy gaming. PES is no more. EA have won the PES vs FIFA battle once and for all and we, the footy game fanbase, are the losers but only when it comes to the mess that is modern gaming.

Me, I'll be back on PES 5 playing the real thing.

RIP PES, long live PES.

You could download a PSX emulator and play e.g. ISS PE2 (my second-favourite PES game). Or, you could stream it from your PC using streaming software - a bit like the PS4's "Share Play" feature - and connect a controller to your phone. I don't think there are PS2 emulators that run well enough to run PES5 on a phone directly, though.
Since its a Very old game, a cheap notebook might do the work. I'll give It a try later. Thanks!

I would absolutely love to read an interview with Seabass at this point. Maybe he wouldn't even care, now that he's moved on from PES. But given his principles of football and what his team were trying to do... I'd love to hear what he thought of all this.

Perhaps he'd just say that online play is the future, and the best thing they can do is make an online football playground. Who knows.

EDIT: He was working on PES as recently as 2016 - I wonder if he's still there...

Not got time to read back through the last god knows how many pages but am I right in saying this...

Konami are not making another PES and have gone down this eFootball route? From what little I've read so far, it will be free to play? Therefore I'm guessing it won't have a offline mode and will be geared towards micro transactions like Fortnite?

If that is the case, what an awful, sad day. I'm not a PES fan boy but have actually enjoyed the last 2 games they released, even with the obvious flaws.

To ditch the game completely and all the people whove stuck by it even when its clear the game isn't great, is pathetic.

Tell you what, I'd love to see all the editors, kit makers etc... come together and totally update PES17. That game is probably the pinnacle they reached on the next gen systems and to have a full up to date 2021-2022 season to start a ML would be unreal. I've searched everywhere for a proper OF for that game, I don't want legends in teams etc..., just a fully up to date squad list and kits.

What a bitter moment. We'll all play our favourite editions forever, I'm sure, but the community always rallied around the current-year game. It was a focal point for discussion and for sharing the joy of PES. That will dwindle pretty fast. In 10 years' time PES will be like one of those ancient PC games that you occasionally stumble upon and discover there's still a hardcore fandom. PES will live on in that form.

The only potential chink of light here is that the 'Team Building Mode' slated for Autumn is, I'm pretty sure, the eFootball version of Master League. 'Online Leagues' will likely be myClub. Team Building Mode will probably be some awful hybrid as Free To Play means that microtransactions will be the focus.

Master League, RIP.

Thats exactly what you should not expect.

Gameplay wise what you are going to get will be tailored for phone users. Its the only way to make it work. If I, a pc user, must be able to play against a mobile player, then everything needs to be downgraded to accomodate mobile less performant hardware and controls. It literally can not work otherwise.
And thats the reason why they are pushing this 1 vs 1 bullshit line....
They push it simply because thats what can work on mobiles....an endless isolation game between attacker and defender, with 20 other guys standing on the pitch doing nothing until selected...

Graphically? maybe....they could make every hardware version look as good as they can....
but since they ditched a full fledged next gen game to give us a free to play cross platform title, then why should we hope they take the time, money and effort to give it a proper look on next gen when their main target is obviously android and ios. If they cared, they would give us a separate game in the first place.

Seriously guys. Im not being pessimistic here. It is what it is. Accept it.
Truly sad this.

At least they could've done a f2p next gen version (ps5 vs Xbox series) and a downgraded version for all platforms.

When I cleared my head a little bit, it's better they changed name .... this monstrosity shouldn't be named PES after all.

Let name Pro Evolution Soccer goes into history as legend, maybe one day it will be relived with proper game -- not this online casino gambling for kids b**lls**t

The PS2 era was golden, I never would have imagined that many years later things would deteriorate like this.

I'll wait to play the game myself because I'm desperate for a playable football game at this point and the alternative is not serious at all.

I'm angry and disappointed.

I think PES 2020-2021 offers the best virtual game of football I've come across. The football has improved, but the actual 'game' outside it is always what's frustrated me most.

Master League has not been fit for purpose for a decade IMO - this is all I've wanted them to focus on improving for years.

Seems they've given up. My demands as a customer are too much and not profitable enough apparently.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe they're planning on creating a new 'career' experience from the ground up. Maybe this isn't a mobile game that I can also play on a PC. Maybe they have invested money in making the best gameplay possible and not spent it all on a few super-expensive licences. But I wouldn't know, because Konami have communication skills worse than my one year old.

Konami, I'd wish you good luck... but I wouldn't mean it. I hope your free-to-play plan fails miserably.

Thanks to all the modders here that have, and will continue to, keep PES alive.

I want a PES 2014 from PS3 ported to PC, because i didn´t like the original PC one. Get back to PES 2011 - 2013 Franchise. Good Old Times.

Had low expectations after seeing the "New football game" demo but I never imagined today's reveal would shit on the legacy of PES to this extent.

Please, someone makes a meme with a EFOOTBALL emblem on it

Most popular sport in world, biggest customer niche, you dont need advertise at all, bilions of dollars potential

And we end up with FIFA and this thing (what ever you wanna call it).

Cant understand why someone would not invest 3-4 years and proper money into real football game ... maybe because of licencing issues, I dont see any other reason.

So much creation and dedication in the editing world for me it would be so sad if we were to lose this, maybe the answer lies in upgrading the back catalogue of games on a multi format basis.

You may try playing it with RPCS3. It's not bad IMO but require a high-end PC. I usually play the PS3 J.League version on PC.

Nail on the head. The mobile game had over 400 million downloads ( https://www.konami.com/wepes/2021/eu/en/ps4/topic/game-wepes2021-17701 ) They just want the small percentage of those people to buy in and splash on the micro transactions and they will make way more money than from those us left still buying the game for 50-60 bucks each year.
400 million downloads...

180k Evo-Webbers.

It's no contest. They're a business and they've gone where the money is.

As someone else already said - EA are doing the same, but pretending to care by keeping Career Mode on life support each year, while the game on the pitch plays like NHL with a football thrown onto the rink. Super-responsive super-"fun".

There are no football games left - only football-themed Fortnite-style slot machines.

Unless EA feel like experimenting by splitting their releases into sim-FIFA and arcade-FIFA - and why would they double their production costs to make very little extra money - then that's it, I think.

The thing with 'a whole new level'.... They kind of delivered ....
@Paynekiller called this haha:
When they said "whole new level" they failed to point out that levels can possibly go down as well as up.

Yup, "whales"...

I'm so damn disappointed. I refreshed my twitter obsessively last night because I was waiting for the "next-gen" football game trailer/gameplay. I would have never expected something so ridiculous. It seems Konami decided to port their mobile game to consoles and PC, every hope of seeing a "next-gen" PES is died today. I mean, I'm not talking only about the graphic, which is clearly worse than the actual PES 2021, but especially on animations and gameplay mechanics.

Again, I'm disappointed. We waited this day for two years and we only got a big fool by Konami. But at the same time I'm glad to see the whole community here is having the same opinion about this new trash game. We have PES 2021 guys, it can easily became the new PES 6 because modders can actually do great things and this amazing community proved it so many times. I'm so thankful to every member who's contribuiting on making PES 2021 the real next gen game we were waiting for. I'm almost sure that in some years some people would be able even to rebuild some mechanics of ML mode that we are currently playing like transfers and many other things. We can't let Konami get us down, we can do better than them! ❤️

I remember rushing home from school every day from 2005-2007 to play PES5 and PES6 on the PS2. Hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours spent on those games, think I had to replace both discs at some point too.

If you could transport someone from then to now, show them games like Half Life Alyx or The Witcher 3 they would be amazed.

And then you show them this horrible, fugly footballing monstrosity desgined to scam kids out of pocket money. What a disgrace.

Surely I am not the only one who senses the pain in those eyes...

Winning eleven 2014 Aoki Samurai no Chosen, with both J1 and J2 leagues is better.
I tried the version on 3DS recently, it's the same as PES 6 but without National teams and the option to add fakes leagues.
But all J-League got a preset and it's looking pretty cool in relief. Unfortunately not in English.

The PS3 iso of this game is easy to found. But to convert J-League for PC, or at least replace PAS player with them (so less fakes players), good luck.
Honnestly i prefers 2014 era than the actual football era, players were more interesting and unique... But not as much as on PS2 Era.
Before with some exceptions, all players trained their strenghts to be the best in that area. Now they trains, or managers trains them to be overally good / even if they strenghtnesses increase less.

Also there's no comparison in terms of charisma because players could be themselve and didn't carried, but now all players needs to be "models for the youths"... But honestly who cares? We ask them to be strong and does their job. Times changes, not always for the good.
It's not because someone is practising sports that he needs to be perfect in real life. Clones in every answers practically, rare are the exceptions (Benzema, Bonucci for example don't care)
