eFootball (All Platforms)

Those cutscenes with players in suits have to be for an offline mode imo. I think I'd be okay with this whole ftp thing if the game was actually massively improved.
In a logical perspective, you're right. But I still see it is just an addition to the added warming up cutscenes in the ONLINE game test or whatever it was called...

It's not even sure there will be any licensed leagues at all. Probably just a few more licensed Teams... or Team-Packs...
Makes sense why they've been focusing mainly on individual clubs now, doesn't it?

Nah they don't. If you play a game at Old Trafford you could have your fantasy team getting off the bus and walking in.

Still stunned at the incompetence. I thought PES21 was a superb football game, my mind was anticipating the possibilities on next-gen hardware.
Only for Konami to turn around and create a F2P version that has to run on the lowest common denominator. So Physics calculations will be nerfed, AI routines will be simple and I will no longer be part of the hardcore that stuck with the franchise through its darkest days.

Thanks PES, you were brilliant.

Yeah you guys could be right. They could be scenes you see whilst the match is being set up. *Sigh now I'm depressed again

Unfortunately until Loot boxes are regulated, this was going to happen. Free to play, give people a taste of a football game, give them a game mode which is similar to trading cards, give them a free pack that includes Messi and then get addicted to spending cash on casino like golden balls in the hope you get a super star team. Konami makes a ton of profit from loot boxes. Regulate them and ban them or make it so you have to have a gambling license. F2P is there because of Myclub loot boxes. Its Konami's cash cow.

PES died along time ago im afraid, I've had glimmers of promise with the likes PES 13 and 17, but nothing has quite hit the spark like PES 6. PES 6 really did feel as close to real life as possible, it picked up on the little details that make football so amazing, and so frustrating. Shots going miles off target from being unbalanced. Muddy kits from sliding about on a wet pitch. Individuality, its all gone now for Sole less play/Pay to win online gaming.

Hi Ho... Hi Ho... back to PES 5 we go!

I wish I knew someone that could bring PES 5 to the Unreal Engine and yes I am being serious. So we get the same fantastic gameplay we had from that game, updated Kits, Teams, Squads, Stadiums and its all decked in the latest Unreal Engine (rather than the previous version which Konami are using and BADLY using).

if only.....

RIP PES.

Didn't Konami say the delay was so that they could build a game designed for next-gen?

I had to do some digging, to make sure I wasn't going mad.

The PES 2021 "season update" was announced with a statement that said:

"Konami is currently 'hard at work' on a next-gen PES game that will take the franchise 'to a whole new level' with more realistic player models, animations, enhanced physics, photorealistic visuals, and more."

See this article from Gamesradar, for example.

This one from Eurogamer says it was "to focus on a full next-gen version due next year".

Sometimes we kick Konami when they're down, and Evo-Web has a reputation of being "the place people go to hate PES".

But I mean... Even for Konami... That's a pretty low blow, isn't it? "Buy our game so we can work on a truly next-gen verhahahaha, sorry, version."

It was an outright lie..........
"Taking PES to a whole new level"
"Skipping this year to Focus on Unreal Engine and nextgen version"

There's no nextgen version, neither there isnt a PES game.

Konami have broken all the barriers of respect and care a Company can have for their consumers.

I would love to know how far we can realistically go with mods for Pes 21.
With whay we have so far and the talented modders, I think PES 2021 is on its way to be PES6 v2 which means we have gone far but still more possibilities to experience... Some modders have came so close to add a promotion/relegation to added leagues to the database so yeah...

I would not be suprised if they're focusing on exclusive club licenses entirely.

One guy in an earlier post (can't remember, sorry) expected the Napoli training ground to be in PES2022. Won't happen. Konami just paid a sh*tload of money for renaming the ground to "SSC Napoli KONAMI Training Center" ...

Konami are trying to appeal to the East Asian market more than the European. The amount of posting they do on social media about the "Iqoniq" Esports tournaments, myClub and PES Mobile baffles me. I guarantee I am not the only one who couldn't care less about eFootball "Pro" and "Open" tournaments.

This series as a whole was built on the Gameplay Master League and Edit Mode functions.

The gameplay, particularly from the PS2 golden era still holds up today, although the last two games (2020+2021) weren't that fun.

The Master League concept was iconic, hours were spent trying to achieve promotion through Division 2, and we developed bonds with fictional players such as Stremer, Minanda, Espimas and Castolo (or in my case, Njorgo) throughout the way.

And if it wasn't Master League that I was spending my time on, it was the hallowed Edit Mode. The mode that allowed you to let fly with your imagination. Wanted to create your old school team? You could. Had a certain player you dislike and make them bald and fat? You could. How about you create yourself and you have 99 on every single stat? Arrogance to the next level, but you still did it.

If there is no information on Master League and Edit Mode by the game's release, PES will officially be dead entirely.

Still, I play PES 3, 4, 5 and 6 often in my own time, they're timeless classics.

Apparently, the graphic aspect (kits, faces, textures aren't that of a big problem) the issue here is AI, gameplay etc... Yes some games have been partially re-made in UE (eg. Among Us, Google Chrome Dinosaur...) but PES is a big ass game, loads and loads of commands are required to feel the great amazing gameplay again.

Edit: not to mention the special features in BAL or ML (season objectives, market value, player inspiration etc...)

I'm so sorry, TG.

There are so many people here who still loved PES, for all it did right, despite the flaws. It was you guys I thought of first, when watching the trailer and it started to sink in, that PES is no more. All of the hard-working editors too, guys like @Hawke who keep us playing.

I think of the truly incredible job @The_Knight did with his PES 2021 realism analysis videos. The passion that goes into it. The hope.

Crushed under the boot of a kid who needs a new toy after losing on Fortnite, and knows who Messi is from the Pepsi Max adverts.

It's truly heartbreaking and I'm so sad for you guys - and for this community that I love.

Totally agree, but this is not the kids fault, it's our fault for creating this world which the kids live in. I struggle to see how we change it back.

Today is a very sad day

I still think the gameplay will be better than PES21. Graphics can be updated at any time since there is no yearly release now. I play lots of free2play games like Apex Legends, League of Legends, Warframe, COD etc. and have maybe spend $30 in each of them for skins. Everything else I got by just playing the game. If the battlepass works like in all other games, that you buy it and if you complete it, you get the next one for free - I am happy to pay for it. Just means I get great value out of it. Modes being payed dlcs is fine for me as well because I never have played BAL, and this way I can save money by just not buying the dlc. Don't forget that crossplay means they now must have dedicated servers, so less lag and no void cheating any more.
