eFootball (All Platforms)

No need to wait two days here is the press release:

"You guys know Fortnite and Pubg, right? Well guess what, we are thrilled to announce that you can now play against your mates on mobile! Wow isn't that cool? We know you will all love this. The game itself? Let's not go into it but remember that time we said you can play against mobile? Wild, right? And I know what you are thinking: What about my favorite mode, MyClub? You can play that, and I know you'll love this, against your mates on mobile! Obviously this means it will be the best PES ever. One last thing, you can also play on mobile! Against your mates on console! What a thrill. Alright see you next fall here's how you preorder bye bye."
It's funny because it's true!

Anxiety is eating me alive!

My expectations are so high this time, I'm bound to feel let down...
Honest question: why have high expectations? I mean given Konami history, given recent market trends, etc. Why? I would understand high demands – wanting something to be really good – but given all the history, why on earth would you expect something good at this point?

Oooh, you're back! 💙 💋

Always in for the hype!

Well, mainly because I've been begging for a new engine since PES 2018 and because we didn't get a new game last year, so they focused 100% on getting this right.
I'm not expecting it not to have flaws, but I'm expecting it to finally feel NEW all around.

Especially after the beta that was released showing what it will be based on.

The little bit of "new engine" hype I had was well and truly killed by that.

So... KONAMI released a pre-beta game, probably based on the mobile version of the game which had already been running UNREAL ENGINE for at least a year, and this "demo" was intended for online testing purposes only, they even go as far as NOT naming it PES or anything related to WE/PES/eFOOTBALL precisely so that people wouldn't jump to conlclusions and yet you still somehow managed to be disappointed because you think it will be based on that?.

Sorry, just coming back from my hiatus. Wasn't here when this discussions took place.

Don't have the links handy, but Konami themselves told both IGN & Eurogamer that it was indeed a beta test version of pes 22 when they asked them. Of course it's not the final release version, so we can still hope they made huge strides in the last couple of months :)

I am obviously not here to defend them, God knows we've all been let down so many times.
But I thought it was pretty obvious they didn't want this "New Football Test" demo to be linked to PES 2022 in any way.

The problem is that we have been hearing from Adam in the Last 5 years at least that the next game has always been under 3 years of developement in some secret bunker every year.

I know the guys Job was to sell the game, but its understandable that people are mentally exausted of the same talk every year.

Its true that 2020-2021 was skipped tho unlike any previous year and I Hope they really took advantage of the extra time to build a better, more tech advanced game with the New Engine. But do Konami still have the skills to do so? They seem too worried about presenting myclub stuff with New legends, boots coins or whatever rather than New gameplay mechanics, New animation and physics model and solid AI.

Also, people got traumatized with the pes 2013-2014 New Engine transition.

PES 2022 will have:
Interactive career mode,
Licensed EFL League 1 & 2, due to unlicensed English leagues
Graphics 1000 times better than beta
Dynamic commentary
Live player stats over the whole game
Then I woke up…
Lol kidding aside, crazy how the teaser evoqued such positivism and went all the way down in the last month

The part I highlighted in bold is the main reason for my anxiety. Doing that must have been a tremendous decision behind closed doors and they wouldn't have gone that way for nothing.
Skipping a year must have meant huge losses.

That makes no sense, why they would go to the effort of porting over the mobile version, working on UI elements, compatibility etc to get it working on consoles just for a limited-time test for a week or two, solely to test some servers/matchmaking.

They also released a survey asking for feedback about it, with questions related to gameplay, which would be completely pointless if this was not representative of the final game or at least using the same gameplay base.

This discussion has been had many times and I see no compelling reason to believe this isn't what PES 2022 will be based on, it would be such an alien strategy even by Konami standards to work on and release that piss-poor beta if they have something truly next-gen so close to completion.

Yes. They sold It at a lower price even. The other thing is that its not because shit happened in pes2014 that we Will have the same in pes 2022.

Unreal Engine is way more widely used for being much more dynamic, easily addapted and the tech is there, Future is promising. Hard not to look at that PS5 demo Last year and not being impressed.

And besides, I dont think that the "New football game" test was all bad and nothing positive could be said about ir . I did not play It but I saw some interesting stuff like the removal of Second pressure from the Square button wich now activates side steps for defending and I saw really New Nice antimations of players curtting passing lines with that.

That kind of thing is lacking. I want to see more ball possession changes from interceptions rather than the dumb skilless automatic pressures. That would change the whole game for the better.

I think we'll all be impressed with the graphics, but it will be on par if not slightly better than a modded PC version of 2021. My biggest source of concern with the beta is with the disappointingly floaty gameplay, and slow response indicative of a deficient animation engine. It's particularly disappointing because they've been working on it for over 3 years at this point.

I think the gameplay won't change much from what we saw in the beta, since the questionnare had gameplay questions.

Graphically, it better be a huge step up from the modded PC version, otherwise, what's the point?

Indeed. Would sooner get the news from the Beano.

For those of you outside of the UK, the Daily Star is arguably the nation's most ludicrous daily newspaper. This was today's front page, starring the catchphrase of a peripheral character in a sitcom that ended in the late 1970s:

That said, it tends to report actual news in a silly way which is probably more credible than pushing hateful agendas like some of the others. In the spirit of PES, let's call them the Sunne and the Maily Dail.
Hey Formula 1 Topps trading cards! U used to collect NBA ones back in the day, the F1 cards were probably awesome! 🏎️

Keep drinking that copium, son.

The lack of PES branding is most likely because they're changing the name of the series going forward (been in the tea leaves for a while now). They have referred to at as a sequel and as a football game and advertised it through the current PES console game.

I don't know what more evidence anyone could need.

It makes me sad that the last ML campaign I loved was the one from PES 2010:

Sponsors with different goals and bonuses, your staff could be upgraded (helping you to get better deals when buying players or earning more money). And a quick and smooth transition. It was really good.

I would be utterly flabbergasted if we see a big difference to the beta………that to me was the so called new engine, with a few more animations (like a ball boy throwing a ball back!)

Im also questioning why you would believe anything Konami say given the past performance….Konami say it’s an online test and you believe it’s just that? The argument swings both ways. My expectations are at the lowest of low, don’t get me wrong I will be overjoyed if we see remnants of a new engine, new everything on Wednesday and beyond, but I just cannot see it.
