EA SPORTS FC 24

These mother fuckers have sold me a bugged out beta, same shit hatrick scorer goes to get the ball and ball is just floating on the refs chest, that's the least of the problems. If I buy a pair of brogues don't hand me a pair of loafers!I paid £80 for this piece of crap and I've never played FUT. I want to break my foot off in some EA mouth pieces arse! Proper robbed.
That's why you do the trial first.

So you’re saying hockey with an average of 60 shots per game is more end to end than basketball which averages 180 shots per game across the same time period?
In UK we use the word end to end to describe a frantic, fast paced game affair when both teams run up and down the pitch/arena/court. Basketball has moments of this but most of the time is played against set defenses. If you mean literally end to end then yes, basketball has no midfield, you can call it like that.

I don't know mate, I forget when was the last time I did the trial before, it was probably 21. They don't deserve a single dollar/pound/euro.

All I can say is that in the last few years it looks horrendous from the videos alone. Even the videos from people who enjoy it and are supposed to make it look good, although I never interact with them cause I don't want to troll or appear to be trolling. That's how bad football games currently are IMHO. It's just the same back and forth basketball game with comical movement.

There is the old school piece of wisdom about needing to play a game to get a feel for it... You know exactly how it will feel if players move like crabs on cocaine and not like humans and their movement and ball interactions make zero sense visually. And that's just one thing. You can also tell there's no defending and I could go on.

If it looks crap, assume it's crap. Pay attention if they ever fix player movement and scrap 1v1s. That's my rule. Will it ever happen? I don't care anymore frankly.

Are we really discussing here what sport do new FIFA games remind us of more...?

Ok after some more time with the trial, I thought it had grown on me but no. Yes it has more animations but the gameplay just feels too alien. The high scorelines don't do it for me. I'd rather play 22 actually.

Just bought a bunch of old fifa games, I'm getting a lot of 0-0, 1-0. But with this one, i miss a goal scoring opportunity and know there will be another one in a few seconds. With the old ones I'm sweating to create chances. Heck even the movements and color palette are more realistic.

Go back to those games and see little details and big details (fouls) they removed over the years.
Like yesterday I was on a run on clear scoring opportunity and Benzema got a cramp on his leg....

Gonna hold off for now. Doubt updates change it enough.

Please separate this game into two. Football 25 and FUT 25. This makes me feel a bit ill (and we all know it's one of the biggest reasons EA dumped FIFA - so they can do stuff like this and not have to share the profits).

I think this interview says a lot about their intentions. "Not having to ask permission from someone whose name you borrow" ... to sell Pepsi, make NFTs and not have to halve the profits. I know that's cynical but I think it's realistic.

Played about 20 local multiplayer games and both of us were extremely underwhelmed. At its essence this just isn't a football game. The basic principles of the game aren't what football is about. This feels like a TikTok generation's lack of attention span turned into a videogame. Just end-to-end attacking with very little pause or thinking in between. Constant attacks and special skill moves while defending is completely hamstrung. The scorelines have nothing to do with actual football. There were very, very few games with less than 6 goals.

The good:
- Some nice new animations that felt very lifelike

- Shooting feels better and more varied, especially outside of the box.

- Presentation is great

The bad:
- Keeper animations are completely off. There is something very wrong there. They parry nearly all shots and react extremely late so that even poor shots look much more dangerous than they have any right to be. This seems like some time of bug that should be fixed with some patches, keepers weren't this bad in previous games.

- There is no midfield. All games were end-to-end as it was nearly impossible to calmy build up your game with midfielders in the center, there is not a lot space and your players tend to make a lot of stupid error when playing passes or controlling the ball which leads to immediate counterattacks.

There mostly were two types of attack: Attacking with fast wingers or tying to quickly get behind the defense with a central throughball. That's it. It has become much easier to simply run past the defense with fast players, there is very little the defense can do.
- A 5-5 is more likely than a 1-0. Attacking is completely OP, especially fast players, even more so than in previous years. Slower CBs just can't cope and your AI teammates are ludicrously bad.
- Many of the goals we scored were completely preventable by better AI defending, but your AI teammates (mostly) completely ignore the ball or ballcarrier. They refuse to stick a foot out when an attacker attemps a shot even though they could have easily blocked the attempt. Other times they just ignore the ball that's rolling towards them and remain planted where they are. They just refuse to defend.
If the AI actually did it's job - and I'm really not expecting the world, just some attempts at blocking shots and tracking attackers - than the game would be infinitely better and much more interesting. As of now, it was no fun at all. We couldn't celebrate goals because it seldom felt earned and because one single goal in the usual 6-5 victoy wasn't really much of a factor.

It's essentially an impossible task to control all of your defenders to prevent such errors from occuring. The better the team, the less pronounced these issues were (badges and player strengths of 5* teams alleviated these issues somewhat)
- Loads of bugs. We've encounted more bugs in one day of gaming than in most previous years combined. We've had invisible players, broken subs (couldn't activate the R2 subs) and various graphical glitches.

This sums up the game pretty well for me - but for all movement, all the time that I'm moving with the ball. It feels entirely wrong, every second.

If you had no idea which game was free, and you saw this video, you'd think it was EASFC all day long.

I've just tried a couple of games with a friend (with sliders) and more than anything, it's so crushingly boring. It's "two passes and shoot" on repeat, or "run through an empty field and shoot" on repeat; zero assessment of your teammates' positions (or the opponents') ever required.

It's not just the animations. Even the graphics looks less cartoonish on eFootball. And that's already a low bar given how inferior eFootball is compared to PES 21.

I have played plenty of matches on fifa 23 on some of my friends house and I will say I got bored pretty quickly. I don't think this game even targets arcade audience. I've enjoyed fifa 06, wc06, 07, 12, 13 gameplay more than some of these current fifa games. Only people I've seen enjoying current fifa games are those who are heavily invested in Ultimate team mode.

And now that EA has dropped the FIFA title, I think they won't even feel obligated to make football games that are as good as fifa 06-17 anymore. And given how their competition is also focused on Ultimate team based gambling modes, there is no pressure to make offline vs cpu/ local pvp modes better.

The only way to play FC24 for a long time is when a friend comes over and you're both tired from work, so the only thing that matters is who scolds who more, without going into what you're actually playing while drinking beer.

But…why? Serious question, not having a go.

There’s a trial. Play it for a few hours and you’ll find out pretty quick how bad it is.

EA will just keep churning out this terrible game if people keep paying 80 quid at release day for it.

it will be 40 quid in the sales in a few months, too.

Which one was this? Out of curiosity?
Fifa 14 (past week I bought 14,15,17,18 and 19 for 1/7 the price of 24). I never gave it a real go 10 years ago and have been pleasantly surprised. But its weird to see (not only in FIFA) how many small details got left behind. Just look at NFL 2K5 (almost 20 years old) and how it still plays better and has more details than the last 10 Maddens combined.

And Im a very casual gamer... I don't see a bunch of negative things the game has, but again, when Im expecting a hard fought game, and it ends up with a 5-4 scoreline its too much. And Im getting tired of spending hours and hours adjusting sliders.

It's the little things tho. Small details like these add up.
Injuries out of nowhere, horrible miss kicks, where you don't even hit the ball and your player falls, injured players being taken off on stretches...

Stuff like this just doesn't happen in football games anymore. Stuff that used to add immersion and realism.

Do you remember fair play AI behaviour in PES? When AI used to kick the ball out when you had injured player on the pitch? Or used to give you the ball back if you kicked it out?

It's so sad that all little immersive details were taken out in the name of ACTION.
It made the whole experience so damn flat...

Im plying the trial still, might as well, hoping something clicks. I just ended up ranting.

Like @Chris Davies says above, I played three games Liverpool v Sheff Utd and all three were incredibly frustrating. First game they get a man sent off early, and honestly their goalie was superhuman. Then in the second half they suddenly start getting more of the ball and are doing constant counters. The bullshit bit was their forward taking the ball of Konates toe and then slipping it past my keeper at the end. 1-0 loss.

Second game no sendings off but again goalie was unstoppable and my shooting on manual feels completely random. Ended up losing again at the end with another bullshit goal.

Then the third match I won in extra time 2-1. Same pattern of play until I scored from a corner late.

The ball feels too heavy and not bouncy enough. But the biggest issue I have is the crab like movement. Because of it theres no time for anyone to get on the ball and actually string passes. You get the ball and the CPU is on you scrabbling sideways, forwards and backwards. When they are on the ball they scuttle crab like and keep doing these bullshit passes where they wait for you to close down then nip the footy off to the next player, then the next. Same attack patterns.

Honestly its 2023 and we have this and cruddy efootball thats still has crappy floaty keepers and bland graphics. ARGGHHH

And we lost to Spurs last night thats still winding me up now..

I once didnt give the ball back in the Riazor in pes5 after it was kicked out. The whistles were deafening.

Also Manuel Pablo at right back was almost impossible to get past, in a totally fair way.

Fifa 24 lacks that personality.

Fifa 16 and 20 (for all its faults) really had that personality.

Still haven't hit career but in clubs this is all I'm seeing. Keepers catch nothing, doesn't matter how slow the ball is coming in or from where, they will parry.
Most of the clubs goals being given up right now are either from everyone endlessly crossing (from basically anywhere) until one magnetizes to a player or the keeper parries the ball but no defender reacts.

No one I've played against has even gone to the middle of the field, it's straight to the wing, run at the defender, turn away, defender backs off and just forgets the attacker (with the ball) is there, so the attacker turns toward goal and runs by him.

There are also way too many instances of defenders winning a ball and the attacker just running into them, their legs get HYPERTANGLED™ and somehow the much larger defender falls down.

This 1v1 shit is really killing my enjoyment of the game. I've gotta double tab a button to make 2 CPU players do some half-assed marking for 3-4 seconds. Holding pressure to make the CPU press just gets them to stand around outside the attackers no-no sphere

Game has still very high user reviews at 2.4/10 on average in Metacritic. I'd expect some EA changes for the better when we hit an average score of 0.1/10 from users around 2027. I could be wrong though.

Anyone having ti change brightness settings every other game? Sometimes not even been able to play sunny weather in some stadiums too bright can't tell difference between teams at times

'14, '15, '16 were good. I thought '22 was ok for about a month after it's release and that was short lived due to the patches that sped up the game for FUT lovers and made it difficult to defend. '23 was trash and '24 looks to be another pile of EA wank.

Things you'll find a lot in recent Fifa games - AI making stupid leg breaking tackles and getting sent off. You would think the AI will chill out a bit after losing a man but it does it again and another player is sent off. I'm going to assume this is also a thing in FC24 🤣

Yep. It’s more like NHL 94 but without the excitement, enjoyment, control, defensive organization and graphical smoothness 😂

Equal amount of skating though 😬
