EA SPORTS FC 24

cant load the game up since last night, yesterday it was a black screen, reinstalled the game now it doesnt even get past that anti cheat logo, had it with this shit

Bit of a broad question and I suppose the answer won’t be truly known unless I pick up the game to play it for myself - What is the general consensus so far compared to last year? In other words, if you disliked Fifa 23 are you unlikely to feel any different with 24?

From reading the posts and thread it seems like most improvements are quite subtle. I only really got going with 23’ when I adopted Matt’s sliders to make the game a bit more bearable. Not sure I want to fork out £50-60 for a game that I can make bearable, but not fully enjoy.
I think it is absolutely a case of, if you liked 23 you'll like 24 because it's marginally more grounded - but if you didn't like 23, you won't like 24, because it has the same core gameplay feel (i.e. 1v1, massive scorelines, fake physics for the sake of "flow", some completely broken sliders like pass error that does nothing, etc.).

You have to be able to overlook a hell of a lot of stuff to get enjoyment out of it. I just can't. I'm not looking for perfection; I just can't ignore laser-guided passing and a ball that changes behaviour seemingly at random.

Overall, I'd be surprised if anyone who disliked fifa 23 really liked this game. I got about 2 weeks enjoyment in july out of fifa 23 using the os sliders on gamepass, then got a bit bored.

24 is definitely better. The players are slightly heavier, the ai better, the animations better with the latest os sliders but...the game lacks immediacy. It feels a bit too floaty still, short passing still feels a bit boring and woolly, and the pitch graphics are mediocre.

I've played around 7 hours of the trial and my main feeling is...it's fine, with sliders. But there is nothing truly revolutionary here. They fixed maybe 5 of the 10 things that needed fixing, so its definitely playable. But you're not really missing out on anything.

The best in game example i can give is this: playing as Benfica vs Porto. 1-3 down..and I notice that if I wait, my teammates are making really intelligent runs, and im able to create some really great moves and interchanges in the final third, as porto sit with two banks around the edge of their area. Everything looks right but...it just feels a little empty.
The game with sliders is moving closer and closer to how modern football looks, but that feeling of immediacy is in some ways further away.

Its probably down to the warped physics for player movement. You just cannot feel each stride properly. You can't really feel any weight shift. And you cant feel the ball being received. There is a disconnect which undermines the positives.

I'd say wait till it's cheaper, or on gamepass, unless you have a burning desire to play it.

It's so frustrating, especially on pc. On fifa 23, the sound would go one day, the scoreboard the next. It's always something with EA.

Obvious question, but have you tried repairing the gamefiles?

yes i did that first , and that took me ages, the play and uninstall options were grayed out so took me a few reboots to even do that. complete fresh install and now and not even getting as far as i was before lol

That sounds so irritating. You have all my sympathy. I actually abandoned fifa 23 in july after enjoying it a bit, mostly due to boredom, but also just getting fed up with it not actually loading. I'd get stuck on the anti cheat too. The only way to fix it is to wait a few days it seems, if nothing else works.

I only started playing on pc again this summer, having last done so when half life 2 came out. Everyone I know who has been playing pc says EA are just total c***s for things like this.

When 23 mods did make passes and such more enjoyable for me, I can not overlook the AI behavior in regards to the simplest aspect of football. That’s my personal bugbear.

to be fair, some AI improvements were made with mods too (great work guys!)… but it’s all so complicated locked in EAs system to achieve more… (afaik).

FIFA 23 was bad
FC 24 is very bad
Dont buy it!

Check out the review of IGN to confirm it.

First Starfield, now Fifa. Ign taking down the old guard.

Pretty cool they were playing with broadcast camera at times.

But, yeah, the game looked terrible in that footage.

Exactly same feeling for me. It is a bit better than FIFA 23 but still not great game. PES 2021 is still much much superior.

Yep, that’s what I thought mate - I think that’s why I would describe 23 as ‘bearable’ because I had to overlook so much stuff to make the game seem playable. Not sure I want to do that again.

This game is even worse than 23. Soulless. Cardboard physics, matchstick figures, unintuitive, no flow. The only thing that is a little better is the AI behavior and a little more variety of moves in general, but that doesn't mean it's good. It is unbelievable that such a large company, with such financial resources and experienced programmers, with theoretical know-how, releases something like this.

Are you launching fifa as administrator? If not try that, if that doesn't fix it you might have to uninstall and reinstall the anti cheat as administrator, that's what fixed it for me last year.

They have the know how to milk illegally underaged customers via FUT. They don't even care what we're saying. Afaik the majority of devs that worked during FIFA 15-17 left the company.

Is that true? They left? Any idea why?

The 10h trial was so "ok" not bad and not good. But with many bugs in CM.

But what da hell €A did with the release game versions gameplay? It is absolutley for the trash can. Only 1v1 dump AI. Dribbling from own half to my box and make a powershoot and goal.
It is defenitley impossible to play a win to :0 or a 0:0. You sucks €A and FUT sucks! And I dump idiot preordered it.

All my hope for gp mods that can fix this.

PS: sorry I'm very pissed off!

Did you pay both 10 hour trial and full release with sliders?

That's a real shame the final game is a mess. Another year of EA luring players in with a vaguely sim-like trial.

FC24 at pc have some serious problems.
Optimization is terrible. Game at load time take a lot to start even if the game is installed at SSD M2 storage. Game stop working at the menu and start loading and need restart. Reinstallation dont help. Wait for some updates and maybe they will fix it.

2 hours laterrrrrzzzz

EA announcement...
Thank you for paying for a pre beta game for 10 hours trial for 3.99
Thank you for the free feedback.
Thank you for paying for the full pre-beta game for 69.99
Thank you for the free feedback again.
Thank you for being an @$$h013.

Sometimes I wonder if some developers of the game have try the game to see if its function or not.

The ten hour trial is steaming pile of shit. I don't even get how anyone playing online can enjoy it let alone single players with the amount of players standing still in defence.

There's also a ton of other stuff that's complete rubbish. Cheap goals, cheap dribbling , jumpy animations. I'm glad it only cost 78p to try

I have Xbox game pass ultimate in which EA Play is included. This + PC preordered.

Edit: yes with a bit to my own changed OS sliders

Got you. Thanks.

I previously had normal gamepass and assumed 24 wasnt on there at all.

But it's on gamepass ultimate?

EA play was on my regular gamepass actually...that's how I was playing fifa 23. Do I need ultimate on pc for ea play? Or do you get a higher level of ea play with gamepass ultimate?

Where do you even begin with this game. I don't think its anything like last years.

For a start its buggy as HELL. I cant make quick subs as the RT doesn't work and I've had numerous weird stuff happening. I also don't have commentary on the highlights.

But most of all its back to the old roller coaster. When I first downloaded the trial it played ok, nothing spectacular but ok. Then they updated it and all of a sudden we are back to dozy AI, players not running back or tracking your player and being able to waltz through teams at will. I've won every game ive played bar one - the one when I originally installed the game before the patch.

The players for some reason look worse. Van Dijk has square shoulders. The poor Forest Manager has a weird shaped head.

The precision pass thing is another gimmick it didn't need. It had an array of passing mechanics and now they switched driven to two shoulder buttons making it awkward. Then the dribbling, the players are like human crabs, they can just move around 360 to the sides and backwards, you cant do that in real life.

And no doubt if they patch it, they will break it next patch, then fix it, then break it and the gameplay will go up and down for single players over and over.

Also the kits! Its like the kits are designed for bigger men and then they slipped these skinny bodies into them. Players look more cartoony than ever.

And finally don't get me started on the all inclusive angle. Look if you are going to include women broadcasters, either pick GOOD ones, not Alex Scott who has as much personality as a cardboard cutout and that local to me Scouse pundit Sue something, who sounds like she's literally reading from a script.

The fellas don't escape either, the guy from the BBC is even more phoned in than Sue, that commentary paring just doesn't seamlessly blend with the gameplay. As for Robson and the other fella they are just boring. Should have got Drury, at least he's excited all the time.

Its a shame because some of the animations are cool and the system for getting such an array of animations is stellar. the ball physics are pretty good to and the keepers have always been boss, I wish Pes 21 had those keepers. But the frostbite engine just doesn't work. The players physiques don't match real world footballers. Poor Gakpo looks like a giraffe and Nunez looks like a beefcake.

Yep deleted ye are EAFC, go away!

I agree on the state of the commentators/hosts.

If EA are wanting a woman to introduce the match, which isnt remotely controversial to me, then get Kelly Cates, who is one of the best presenters full stop. She grew up around footballing gods and clearly knows the game inside out.

Guy Mowbray is also great in real life. His commentary for Denmark Russia in the euros was brilliant.

The problem is...they're being asked to act essentially, whereas in games, or in the studio, they are speaking their own words. It's a hugely difficult skill, that Drury and Tyler make look easier than it is. Ask Jim Beglin for goodness sake!!

Alex Scott is a bit boring really. Pleasant, but maybe still a little nervous to be fully at ease. Gary Linekar was wooden for quite a while early on..Sue Smith is irritating. There are so many good women presenters now in football, and good pundits, its typical of EA to make all the wrong choices again.

I wonder whether the commentary and intros are being fed through AI, I really do. They dont quite sound like their real-life counterparts, to a greater degree than has been the case in the part.

I am not going to lie, I find this game better than FIFA 23 and I thought FIFA 23 was better than FIFA 22. The defenders show more aggression and no more CB jogging bug that made beating teams like Man City easy(as they tend to push up a lot). If you like FIFA 23, you will like this. If you don't like FIFA 23, chances are you won't like this. Dribbling seems more smoother, left stick is usable now. Passing interception physics is still too perfect but it can be fixed with mods. I just hope the CPU crossing frequency can be tweaked with a mod too. I hate that ridiculous dribbling on the byline.

Got you. Thanks.

I have the xbox game pass ultimate. With this one you have a complete package.
I'm not sure if EA Play is (the one for 4,99€/month (or so)) in the PC game pass too. Sorry mate.

But with the EA Play + ( correct me if I'm wrong, 14,99€/month ) you can play it without the 10h trial restriction.

EDIT: https://www.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-game-pass?xr=shellnav

MS say that EA Play is with the PC game pass included.

But, It is so freaking weird so many "gamepasses plus subscribtions per month" ...
