EA SPORTS FC 24

It's animations like this that really concern me. The impossible AI-driven Hypermotion fast-forward switch from one animation to another is just horrible, to my eyes (and to "feel").

The first one's not so bad; the second one (that speed-up) is just horrendous. IMO. The fact that you would advertise it as a good thing, says it all about who they want to impress.

I truly think Hypermotion, for all its supposed benefits, is only making the game worse. I understand what it's supposed to add, but I don't feel any of it is beneficial to those of us who want a game grounded in real-life.

Good to see more manual features being added

"If you have different players, but they have the same attributes - the same height, and the same weight - they will behave the same, it doesn't matter if it's men or women, exactly the same. And then from there, there's just differences in player sizes and player weight and height."

They add some animations and some other functions. Great job. Its sad.

It’s so sad… just the first thing that comes up.
...when you see how they wanna sell you this Haaland move and how ingame it’s so mind blowing wrong executed, that every person with a decent understanding of the sport and the shown situation, can not overlook this and have to admit it’s got nothing to do with the real sport!

this doesn’t even need further explanation but I would, if I’m too cryptic. 👋

Look, I'm going to be honest here... I found a lot of that incredibly sexy. I'm actually more pleased than I thought I would be, it looks a little more grounded to me (but just a little - and it's IMPORTANT TO NOTE, this is early footage, and they speed the game up MASSIVELY pre-release, every single year).

I was neither disappointed nor in any way excited. The problem is, that stuff is supposed to be sexy, that's how they come up with these ideas anyway.

I don't remember last years sexy features, but I think it was Hypermotion again (more animations, they even mentioned "less skating" but it was worse than ever!), power shots and the different accel. types? How did those things impacted the game and in what way?

The only new thing I know I would really enjoy if I played the game (I didn't), would be the goal nets. :) But at the end of the day it's about the fundamentals and the stuff you mentioned in bold. Defending, balance, passing, and the quality of the basic animations. And I will be shocked if they're any better and closer to football.

The basic fundamentals are the same, just like every year, players skating across the pitch.

I just take it all with a grain of salt. Not negative, and not hyped either. Just excited to have another iteration of a game I love. FIFA 23 was so good, with sliders, that it will take a lot for me to put it down. I enjoy seeing and reading about the new features of EA FC, but I'll honestly forget about them anyways, so it won't really matter. It's only if they become a hindrance to achieving a more realistic game is when I'll be vocal. If EA FC doesn't come with sliders, then I'll still give it a chance, but I doubt it will be enough to overtake FIFA 23. If it does have sliders, then man, I can't wait to sink in and see what we're working with this year. Overall, a good deep dive, and the pitch notes are supreme. Looking forward to seeing what's next.

Exactly the right attitude to have. Just can't help getting hooked on some of that tasty bait. If we could get the most out of things like the individual playstyles... I mean, I mostly play lower league, but it's still exciting.

Surely they'll have sliders though? They'd be crazy to get rid of them for no reason! It's not like it's a whole new engine (though honestly I found them to be fairly broken as of Hypermotion - pass error for me didn't add misplaced passes, only very strange animation hiccups, with AI thundering up the field just as easily as ever).

I'm really impressed by the cloth physics. They finally brought back FIFA 14 NG style cloth physics. But maybe they're bit too late. After googling for a while, all I'm hearing is that there will be no national teams in this game and that's gonna be a instant deal breaker for me. Having unlicensed teams could potentially be easily modded. But having no teams at all would make it hard, if at all possible.

If i understand correctly, practice arena also have practice match with teammates like older Fifas. This feature has been absent since Fifa 15 i guess. Good to see it is back again, used to spend good amount of time back in 360 days in this mode to practice and improve my game.
  • Practice Matchis also now available.
    • Jump into a match where no score is tracked. Simply hop in, play, and leave when you feel like it.

Looked exactly like 23 unfortunately. The guy who played it said it is almost identical to last year

For those who missed the above video, it was really really really bad.
Also, the turf texture from the gameplay camera is one of the most infuriating things, with its uneven dirty brown grey crayon colored mush that extends across the pitch lines which should be fucking solid white, jesus christ, it's a simple texture, how hard can it be?

FIFA 16 had the best pitch texture in my opinion. That was the closest they got with realistic pitch texture.

Ah... Hopefully it was extremely early footage, and not the latest footage (which is what I'm worried about, i.e. the trailer looks genuinely great in parts, but I fear beta testers will suck all of the good out before release).

I really hope having an invitation for the beta. This game looks like FIFA 23 with better animations, some news options on career mode, nice cutscenes and maybe a PES Player Id like with playstyle and playstyle+🤩

I have fun with FIFA 23 so i think i'm in, once again😔

It's exactly the way devs should pitch their new features, that keynote presentation was just long winded and not interesting at all even to people who just wanna know why the eff the should care about and buy your new game.

I can't deny what they showed today looked very attractive. But the only problem they done these dev deep dives the last two years and it's difficult to trust them when they promise it's going to be realistic and immersive when the final game comes and it's infested 1v1 and skating that spoil everything in the way of challenge.

As mentioned on the previous page, if they made a game like FIFA 16 and had realistic fundamentals, I guarantee it would be accepted, adored and generate revenue the world over. People will buy it because it'll have equity and people will play it and learn to love it because it's the contemporary game in town.

Even eFootball which was ridiculed at launch has millions of concurrent players who guess what, play every day religiously and spend their money on it, and that's probably a more realistic/sim than FIFA is at this point on the pitch.
