Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/14/07)

The cheating in the ML games in WE-JL 2007 is heavier than any previous version!I just played one game in second season and i was ready to smash my ps2.i had 9 shouts and they had only two.Of course they won with a rebound goal. How many times have you seen a rebound goal in real soccer.?I dont want to see these stupid goals in pes2008 but unfortunately i think i will...

Jack, Japan is pretty strange when it comes to racism etc. It is very Pro Japan and is not very progressive towards any minority groups. no matter what race you are you if you are not japanese you are a 'Gaijin' (outside person). I remember when Bob Sapp (Black K-1 fighter) was huge over there. he was asked to stand in front of the gorilla cage at Ueno zoo and eat bananas for Japanese TV. Then there was Kevin Randelman who came out in a Pride fight dressed as Donkey Kong while his opponent (Kaz Sakuraba was dressed as Mario).

Holy fucking shit. That would explain it then.

Looking at that FIFA 08 (current-gen) shot above though, I don't see a single black guy in the crowd, and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Hmmm... That's worse than Konami, come to think of it. :-s

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/14/07)

I haven't seen a screenshot that has impressed me as being next-gen yet. Where is the bump-mapping, HDR lighting, soft shadows etc?
Exactly, exactly, exactly. There are "nice" graphics, and then there is next-gen.

Seabass's graphical team belongs to the stone age.

I spotted two.

Oh I beg your pardon, you're right, I've just spotted a couple now. Not really black-black though.

Nothing is worse than the crowd KONAMI is showing so far. And there are about 5 black guys sitting is each row if you look pretty closely.

if you want another one : every time I say I'm from morocco when I'm asked where I am from the japanese start laughing . it's not racist but it's really annoying
ps : about bob sapp I don't think it's racist , there is a famous japanese guy who is always compared to a monkey because of his face . and even worse there is a japanese international football player called hanyu who was told by a tv announcer he looks like ET and well there is a ressemblance I must say

My God, this screen is TRULY AWFUL.

How, in the name of the Lord, can you put on the market a game in which back numbers are THIS horrible? Whay even bother with graphical effects when you are incapable of even make the number fit in the spot on the shirt!???

I'm astonished.

Hahaha, you guys will be the first to slate someone who says they won't buy PES because of the dog and the old man screen. :D

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/14/07)

I have no beef with the old man and his dog, its a new feature at least :|

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/14/07)

In all honesty I did immediately think the numbers were stupid as soon as I saw the shot. Very very strange positioning, what team were they watching when they noted that the numbers should be apart as far as that? Visually Challenged F.C.?

LOL, so true.. this is one of the weak points of FIFA and again the strong point of PES. At least Konami knows how to put fonts and numbers properly. ;)

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/14/07)

I see this thread has gone big time downhill... full of arguments about poverty and FIFA Current Gen bashing.. not forgetting the dog and the old man. I suppose the best time to check this thread is during Leipzig.

They're in action, so it seems like they're shorter and the bal is bigger.

Re: WE/PES 2008 Next Gen - Discussions Thread (Last Update 08/14/07)

New info on WE Blog?

Hey guys,

Finally I have the time to post again. As the preparations for the Games Convention are running on all cylinders, there's a lot do here, that's not always related to Videogames and Entertainment. Nevertheless, today i could reward myself with a match of PES 2008 during my lunch break, to express my passive sportiness. :-)

As soon as the PlayStation 3 was booted, an attractive user interface and a nice soundtrack received me, that surprised me positively compared to the PES predecessors.

Once I'm in the game, I dribble smoothly on the field like a young god. Thanks to the critically acclaimed gameplay and the very good anmations I know exactly how to pull off my strategies. So I dash through midfield, the opponent player's pulling my shirt, but I'm able to shake him off. A short pass up front, feinted the goalkeeper, shot - Goal!

My team's celebrating like 11 lottery winners their jackpots... but then there's a whistle. The referee's calling offside, the replay show's that he's right. Too bad, I was so sure I would beat the other team. Like in the real game of football, the referee is the one who has the last word and my dedication to win doesn't count. On top of that I receive a yellow card for a dive of my opponents player.

Great, my tackle wasn't near to be brutal. :-)

I try to deny it, but it's no use. Yes, PES 2008 is adpating to my style of play and so I have to change my strategy if I don't want to be a victim of my half-assed tactics. Apart from it's visual brillance (The PC-Version btw is based on the Next-Gen-Engine of PS3 and Xbox360), the gameplay is like I always wanted it to be. Fluid, clearly arranged and demanding. So its fun to try new things every now and then, because I realize that every move has it's purpose in the right situation. Like in a real game of football! And so i can honestly say that PES 2008 is the best PES that was ever created.

The Ball is round, a game lasts 90 minutes... and I realized that my 30 minute lunch brake is way to short to fully enjoy the high art of digitally football. Than god, in the next few days, I'll have time for revenge - the next lunch brake is coming soon...

See ya,

Obviously being written by a Konami employee its going to be biased, but we will take his word about it. Less than a week left till we test PES 2008 hardcore style.
