Ultimate Fighting Championship (Xbox 360, PS3)

Me and Coopz had about 6/7 fights today. No lag in any of them which caused trouble so that's good. A massive thanks to coopz for showing me the ropes and getting me up to speed on everything :)). I remember one mental KO I got on Coopz, a left hook that just nailed his fighter and it was lights out. Some cracking friendly fights then we had a proper ranked match to finish, another great match with me knocking coopz down in the 2nd round, but I couldn't follow it up and he got away. We must have been very close to a knockout in the third round, but coopz took me down and got me in a submission hold and I couldn't get out of it and had to tap.

Awesome fights :)).
 
Yeah we had some good fights there

I need to work on my stand up :LOL:

Your good at that so just work on counters and transitions then the game comes into its own when you start ground and pounding and subbing people online :)

Cheers Coopz :)). You are good at the ground game so it made for interesting fights! My online ranked record is 0-3-0. First was against an American and was laggy and I didn't had a clue what I was doing! :LOL: Second was against Coopz, and third was a good fight but I left myself open and got clocked with an over the top punch and KO'd.

Not sure how long the career mode will hold my attention, but it seems ok so far :)).
 
This game is quality! had some Ranked matches and won all of them but 1, and the funny thing is I felt I dominated that match the most. Im pretty much a Kickboxer but prefer Striking. I was Chuck he was Rampage, I must have knocked him down atleast 7-8 times! in the 3rd both men were knackered and he knocked me down and then finished me. :((

Yeah it's really annoying knocking the shit out of the opponent online and pounding them over and over on the floor and they push you off jab you and beat you.

I'm sick a fucking tired of getting my opponents stamina down to hardly anything, taking them down and putting a submission on and they just brush me off as if its nothing and jab me into a KO.
Or they quit as you see them start to tap out.
 
I'm 22-10 online now with 18 wins coming by submissions, most people just strike strike strike their stamina away, and when the time is right, I make them tap.
 
I may have found a way maybe to get around the cheating gits quitting early. I just battered some guy in 40 seconds (he punched as i went to touch gloves, i caught his fist, pulled him to the floor with a judo flip, ground and pounded him and Ko'd him) and as soon as i knocked him out i pressed the PS button to check a message i had and i noticed in the background the game was skipping all of the replays and celebrations and ref holding up the arm and then it came up 'saving'.

After 'saving' it said 'error disconnecting' blah blah but i still got the win as it skipped the crap after the fight and got to the 'save' part quick enough.

I sent the moron who quit a message saying 'Where do you think you're going?' and got nothing back. I checked my stats and I finally have a win against my name. Though my record SHOULD be 6 wins 1 loss.

Was practising transitions for several hours in the practise mode yesterday so I'm going to try it out today. In the beginning it didn't make any sense at all with the rotating of the stick but I think I got it now.

The training mode is really good because you can change the difficulty on the AI on the fly or just turn it off. And when you're in a position and press start to the menu and go to actions it will jump to the actions for the position you're in, really nice touch. So I started with the AI off and then gradually went up in difficulty until I could dominate the AI with takedowns on Advanced.

One thing I don't like is that you have to double tap back to evade a blow. It seems way too sensitive because often nothing happens for me so I end up pretty much never using it. It's a shame because it could result in some amazing counter punches if it was better implemented.
 
Just fought against a guy named ''DatFireJake187' who was a level 42 with 48 wins 8 losses and had a silver trophy icon under his name on the fighter select screen.

The guy outclassed me all of the place, if i moved he took me down, if i threw a punch or kick he caught it and took me down, if i breathed he countered my breath and took me down. In the end all i could do was attempt to fight him off and keep countering his ground work. I managed to hold him off for a while but just before the end of round one my stamina was drained (with me fighting him off) and he forced me to tap with ease.

I would love to get as good as him. Fortunately he seems a stand up guy and sent me a PM after the bout saying that i had good ground work and if i wanted any tips he's willing to spar any time i want. He sent me friend request before i could reply and said 'oh yeah don't use submissions as early as you did.

I replied back saying i was screaming like a girl and just doing anything i could to keep him off me. The submission was all i could do when i was on my back and he was pounding me'.

But anyway enough of my failings, if anyone else wants to fight someone way out of their class and gain tips this guys seems really decent.

None of our games were ranked

all of them were unranked rematch's

I also had another twat quit last night and i got battered by a guy with a 25 and 2 record or something like that, makes me wonder if he would of quit if i had won
 
There's no way of getting 2 friends into a ranked match that i know of and i didn't even change anything coming into the last fight

I think im gonna have a go on it now actually, watching UFC 98 countdown has made me wanna batter Matt Hughes :LOL:
 
Oh ok. I swear it counted for my ranked record though as I only played 2 other ranked matches...
 
I've played about 30 ranked matches now and only about 9 of them have counted. Absolutely ridiculous, online is a joke. Surely, they are going to come up with patch that rewards a victory regardless of the disconnection.

Anyone have any tips on the ground game? I played through the tutorial a number of times but I still can't get it right. I can't seem to get my transitions to work either, I'm inputting the commands but I can't seem to wriggle out of the guard. I need to improve this to win the Heavyweight belt as Brock takes me down 9/10 and I simply cannot defend.
 
I sometimes find myself going around and around and around when i take my opponent down. I'm not sure why but I'll try to get into a full mount and end up just going round and round in circles and then get bored and let them up
 
Yeah I'm the same if I'm on top, and I really don't know what to do. I can't punch because he'll catch that and I can't move because he'll counter that. If I stand up he'll just take me down again and when I'm in guard on my back he seems to be able to punch through that. I'm really stuck on the ground aspect of this game. I need a crash course in tactics because as it stands I keep getting title shots but I can't beat Brock. It's the same on any difficulty level, but even worse on Advanced. I tend to just be stuck wriggling around doing nothing on the ground round after round.
 
Just won 9 games in a row online :)

One was a sweet KO with a Knee as he attempted a takedown and he sent me a message after saying the same

One of my new descriptions now is "Adapts to opponents game plan" or something along them lines and my other 2 are "Brutal ground and pound" and "Great ground game" :)

I had another twat quit as well after a great fight between Mir and Lesnar, he was easily winning the first 2 rounds as i was afraid to strike and he kept stuffing my takedowns, but late in the 3rd i got him down and subbed him and he quit
 
I couldn't of put it better myself Cammey. If it wasn't for playing with mates I wouldn't bother at all.
 
went online today with dan henderson. Fought a chuck lidell player and made him tap with a triangle as he used up all his stamina when he mounted me trying to punch my face off. The lag was really bad though.

Offline I do like the game but getting submission vs the CPU is just near enough impossible. If you try and play the ground game then your going 3 rounds. All my fights end up being stand up battles!
 
Getting annoyed in Career keep getting done from full mount with created fighter i cant reverse the full mount and i either get KO or ref ends it.

BJJ and Muay Thai is my skills all it seems to do is grab the arm all the time i cant flip them over my record like 5 wins 14 defeats now and all from mount.

What difficulty are you on?
 
It must be down to yours stats then because i was on advanced and had little trouble getting out of mount

Just up you ground defence stat or something like that and you should be ok
 
Bought the game yesterday and liking it.

BUT, what the fuck!! I can't do a career mode with one of the many REAL fighters? I have to either create someone or pick a default template douchebag? That is seriously disappointing but I hope I'm missing something! I want to use a real UFC fighter and advance his career!

they should of included an option to be a regular UFC fighter.
