07/12/09 - Undisputed 2010 "will have a lot of improvements"

UFC Undisputed 2010 will be the best UFC video game ever and a sure hit with fans, a source close to the project told Fighters Only in a brief conversation recently. Undisputed 2009 was a huge seller after being released in May this year and developers THQ are confident of replicating that success next year.

“There’s been a lot of improvements made, particularly in relation to issues that fans raised after playing the first game. Collision detection has been improved, the way the ground game operates has been improved,” our source said. “There will be changes to the way submission escapes work, many fans felt it was too strength-based. And didn’t reflect the real-life skills of certain fighters.”

“There will also be new features to the career mode, with players finding that their fighter attracts media attention as he climbs the rankings. And there will be a wider range of options for customising the characters you build,” he added.

One oft-repeated criticism of Undisputed 2009 was that the cage wall does not affect gameplay significantly. Fans have suggested that clinching against the cage should be a more usable tactic in the game, and hitting the cage wall should also affect whether a takedown is successful or not.

Asked if any of these changes have been implemented, our source laughed, “I can’t give everything away - you’ll just have to wait and see!” UFC Undisputed 2010 will be shown publicly for the first time at next week’s Video Game Awards and is expected to have a second-quarter 2010 launch date.

It has emerged this afternoon that next year’s instalment of the UFC: Undisputed series will be released on May 25th, 2010.

A Gamestop manager confirmed the news to MiddleEasy.com today which will likely have fans on the edges of their seats on the run-up to its release.

The 2009 version of the game is nominated for the “Best Individual Sports Game” at SPIKE TV’s Video Game Awards on Saturday night, with more details on the 2010 version also set to be revealed.

There's also a bit of slightly better collision detection, the first scene Kimbo is in, a punch goes round the back of his head and doesn't affect him at all, on 09 that would have still connected and done damage. Hard to tell from about a 10 second clip of no extended gameplay footage.

That move would be good if it didn't look the same ever single time

Plus it dont happen much anyway in real fights

how the hell do I get into position and what are the buttons for rear naked choke? Trying to unlock the classic matches.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

For the rear naked choke you have to get there back (cant remember how thats done) or they to roll out of mount giving you their back then pressing the RAS in will give you a RNC

To get in them positions you need to transition with the RAS

Ahh, this is where I am having trouble. Not the foggiest!

You need to move around the guard or the pyramid as its called. You can do this by taking your opponent down and passing his guard with either a minor transition or major transition. A minor transistion is performed by pulling the RAS down to 6 o'clock then rotating clockwise to 12 o'clock. The major transition that gets you to the mount is performed by moving your RAS up to 2 o'clock then anti-clockwise back to 6 o'clock. Once your in mount you can let your opponent try to escape which ends up giving you his back. Then push the RAS in to perform the Rear Naked Choke.

It is also possible to reverse a takedown by performing a major transition as your opponent shoots in. This reversal ensures you take his back immediately and gives you the option for the Rear Naked Choke.

Your best off going into training with a BJJ fighter, maybe Florian, and training against BJ Penn with the training set to Grapple Only, and on Expert Level, this way you can practice your transistions, and reversals.

I have put over 1000 hours into this game, any more questions feel free to ask.
