UEFA Champions League For 360! (March 20th)

ok, i'm sure no one is arsed but i've just nipped down to gamestation and traded fifa 07 for this, still at work so haven't tried it yet, did play the demo but it wouldn't let me change the buttons so i didn't persevere with it.

i've been reading this thread over the past few days and have been happy to hear that my main gripes with fifa 07 seem to have been fixed (i was on the fence about 07 due to the lack of headers and retard keepers among other things). anyway fingers crossed.

my gamertag is J79, i'll be looking for a game online later if anyone is interested, think i've got jack bauer on my list so if you're on i'll send a game invite later.

edit fao Jack Bauer. did i see in this thread you saying that tricks were available in this game? i know that there's no trick stick but am i right in thinking the "context sensitive" skills that didn't quite make it into fifa07 are in this game?

edit 2: gamestation had a total of 30 ps3s for sale over the counter today. they received 70 and only got 40 preorders, i thought it was going to be hard to get a ps3?

I must say I've seen a few context sensitive skill moves. Stepovers, flicking it over a defenders head etc
 
im 99.9% sure that any update youd get off live would not change the core gameplay to the extent jack is implying. its either in from the start or jacks got fifa blindness :)

I assure you mate, they've made changes from the demo and tweaked a few things, so it's either that or the update. I'm not blind.
 
How do you do step-overs etc? I will be flying down the wings with Ronaldo later I MUST KNOW! :)

no trick stick just context specific moves. i wouldntve thought running forwards is one of the contexts...

jack i wasnt saying you were blind! i was joking, i was saying idve thought it was in from the start, ie of the final game, and not omthing they'd just adjusted online on release day... maybe tho!

I don't want to repeat myself Paddy, I'll be getting death-threats from the Seabass crew... Have a look at my last two posts on the previous page of this thread - I've written a mini-review and then added a second little post a few posts down. In short, it is the best football game I've ever played, without a doubt.

The way that the CPU plays against you, cuts you out and adapts to your style of play is scary.

good to hear jack. i probably wont be able to try it out for another week and a half due to working away next week (great first week of easter hols and straight back out the door!) but then ill give it a fair go....as long as theres more stadiums, more faces, and i enjoy scoring the goals, it'll be great! :D

Ive just picked this up on the PS2 because I bought Brian Lara on the 360.

And I couldent afford both on 360.

Impressions tonight.
 
Cammey, don't post your impressions of the PS2 version in here - as Paddy has just said, the current-gen engine is totally different to the XBOX 360 engine. And compared to the 360 version, yes, it's pants. The people who say the current-gen version is better than the next-gen version are the people who are too used to PES and want to see more teams.

With regards to the PS3 orders.

My local gamestation is also selling them over the counter. Apparently not ONE single person pre-ordered one from there.

I did see a woman picking one up for her man/son though, he had wrote a list down with 2 games for it :lol:

I got £30 for FIFA07 (x360) and NHL2k7(x360)

So I ended up payin £14.99 for it, not played it yet gonna have some food then I'll be set for the day!
 
I'm sure something has been changed in this update.. I just scored a header from a LT cross! Ive never done that before. Beat Chelsea 2-1 with United at Old Trafford and it was brilliant. I'm loving it more and more now. Scored a scorcher with Rooney and the header looked brilliant. All the power was on the cross from Ronaldo and Saha just directed it in but the header had so much power.

Can the owners anwser some questions for me? Jack, as what happend last time with fifa, has gotten me interested (and seeing as its nearly my birthday and people are asking me want i want and i have no anwser, this could be a physical gift instead of just cash). Jack, go into sales mate!

Anyway, the questions;

- Can you hit decent crosses in this time? In fifa07 they were always slow and floaty with far too much height which made them work more like a lob then a cross, causing the heading to be crap, among other things.

- Does the comp defense/attack actually head this time?

- Has anyone else noticed the tactical changes being made by the comp that jacks mentioned? If that is the case, that would really interest me. In PES6 i usually only have one "great match" per season due to difficulty/tactics etc. If the comp is actually changing on the fly that would make it a lot more challenging (i.e. actually combating throughballs that are too easy in fifa07)

- Do the balls rebound properly of post/crossbar? I know some mentioned in the demo impression that they ping off of them correctly this time. Just conformation.

- Is the stutter/collision fixed? No more stop/start when running into players?

- Are the goalies fixed? meaning not being super human when 1-on-1, not being useless at freekicks and having decent animation for catching/grabbing the ball in the air?

- Does the condition/weather change from match to match? I know in fifa07 when in managermode the settings would be used from the last friendly played and wouldnt change untill you played another friendly with different settings (night/day/etc)

- can i use the d-pad for player movement instead of analog? Not expecting it.

I know fifa have said they have fixed some of the questions asked and some have been mentioned/anwsered in demo impression but i would like to have conformation from the people playing the full version atm.
