I've got a mid level Bravia and I'm more than happy with it.

I need some help guys, for the last few weeks my TV has developed a 'faint' white 'smear', its a decent size too. Now I very rarely notice it when I'm playing games but when I'm watching TV etc I notice it all the time especially in dark scenes.

Also during the same period the TV in the top corners is a bit darker than the rest of the screen.

Is there anything that I can do to get rid of these issues?

PS: I can't phone Sony until the first week in June because I recently moved house and don't have a phone line yet.

That is a common LCD fault, not much you do about it. Some people say you can try massaging it to make it better?

You don't need to phone Sony, contact the place where you bought it from.

When you say massaging what exactly do you mean?

Put a little towel around the bottom half of the tv - lay it on its back and get some oils etc and rub smoothly and evenly over the screen. ;))

I was joking by the way - Just thought I would say that before you come back on here and say that you put oils all over your tv!!

tobi, I'm bust with exams and so don't have time to search the method (if there was one, I can't remember) on fixing your problem.

Check out AVForums LCD section :DD

Dont worry about it, Sony came to check it out yesterday and I got shown up by my TV because the smear had completly disappeared. The guy was telling me that he couldn't see it and I couldn't see it either. It was so embarrasing, the night before it was still there!

I tried to but I had to stop because it just wasn't there.

Anway in September I'm going bigger and I've got my eye on the Samsung LE40558/9.

Ye going to be interesting if they get the most out of the LCD as they have Plasma then on to winner.

I will be interested to see the price of it i wonder if it will be competitive.
