The TV Thread

Is it? My dad's got his 360 plugged into a Toshiba WLT68 and there's far clearer movement on 1080i.

Different for different TVs really, and depends on your eyesight as well. Way to many variables..

Start ripping the fire place and back boiler out in a few months, then it's hello big screen... I was hoping for a leap in technology early this year, as it stands I may have to go down the Plasma 46" route.

50" Plasma :8):

The Kuro is really pricey, and so are the 1080p Pioneers, but if you can strech I would.
Are you planning to go for seperate speakers?

Yep looking at some DUO 77's and a Onkyo TX-SR605, I have an all in one at the mo' but the sound is not great and the DVD player is glitchy.. The TV would have to be 1080p, even if truth be told apart from some gaming and DVDs is not going to be used much...

I'd fear for pets if you had that floor mounted, my cats attack our TV's when wildlife stuff is on. Imagine stuff on that would be life size, one minute they would be diving into it to catch a bird the next they'd be up the curtains getting away from dogs on screen!!

Imainge wathcing Eastenders on that, all those old Shalgs...

I think a Tv of this size would need to use the Super High Def that the Japs are currently working on....

I dont think anyone on this forum will have a room big enough to house such a tv :) Id try though ;)

What is 1080P 24hz? My PS3 switches to that when I watch a Blu Ray?

That's BEST picture available afaik, no doubt ash or TG will tell more about the 24Hz thing, but it's meant to give a completely flawless picture.

All films are shot at 24fps, when you watch a BD or HD DVD on a compatible set your watching it at the right speed.

A TV that doesn't support it will speed it up and show it at just under 25fps I think.

And when you're drunk, you'll be humping the TV when the porn is on.

Yep as said above. Films are shot at 24fps and Blu-Rays have films stored at 1080p/24, but not many TVs can show it natively. A lot of TVs accept 1080p24 but refresh it to 1080p25, which is annoying.

Though not many "normal" people can notice the speed up, which is a good thing :D

The SD picture on my TV has improved a lot since I tweaked the settings but some channels and some broadcasts can look awful at times with the main culprit being the 4:3 La Liga on Sky Sports. I really hope the Spanish start 16:9 football broadcasts soon.

Anybody here that own the Sony Bravia 46" LCD-TV KDL-46W3000 or who have experienced it? I am 99% sure of getting this one in the very near future but one thing I am unsure of is if it has problem with showing football games and playing games with fast movement etc..Cause I have heard that LCD tv`s can have some picture problems when showing of stuff that has a high speed ot when there is happening many things at the same time on the screen. Help would be much appreciated. Thanx.

Try it out at a store, maybe take a DVD of football if you have one.

It's personal taste really. And then compare it to a plasma, which will trounce it :8):

LG 42inch Plasma for sale in Currys at 650, I think that's well cheap for a Plasma, but I dont know much about them.
