The TV Show Thread

Line of Duty series 2 Anyone else watching? Thought it started really slow but the last 10 minutes, especially the ending, wowzers. Keeley Hawes is a hell of an actress, they did a great job making her look really dowdy and depressed. Wish it was on Netflix or something like the first series, can't stand waiting a week for each new episode, think we're going to save up the next 5 then watch them all together :)

Is Breaking Bad as good as the hype? I just finished watching Sherlock, and am caught up on all the other shows I watch.. Including all episodes of New Girl in one weekend and a bit.
Breaking Bad was next on my list, but just doesn't seem that amazing.

Personally I think Boardwalk Empire, Rome, Deadwood and Band of brothers are much better than Breaking Bad, not to mention the big ones (The Wire and The Sopranos). I would also put Game of Thrones above BB.

I was bored with BB and thought it dragged too much on the same because it has only a two or three interesting characters and the secondary characters and plots felt cheap.

But that's just me, I know I'm in the minority here.

I agree, I like Sopranos, deadwood, boardwalk empire and game of thrones better than Breaking Bad. (I haven't seen The Wire or Band of brothers yet)

A couple ofother shows that imo come close to The Wire: Friday Night Lights (gives an impression of small town America), Treme (also by David Simon from The Wire) and(most close to The Wire) Engrenages (In English available as the Spiral, but beware, there is another series also called The Spiral and that one isn't good at all, it's about art robberies).

Starting watching True Detective.

It's been good, like how Harrelson and McConaghuey characters play off each other. A bit slow mind you, but still enjoyable.

Gave up with Underbelly, Season 2, watched a couple and just not into it.

Back to Walking Dead and looking forward to Game of Thrones starting up in a few weeks.

I'm not against character development, but, the way it was in the last episode, was just soooo fake, badly written, exposed and amateur.

anyway, all in all, the show is now on the ledge of randomness and running-out of ideas, even if it's based on a comic book.

the writers seem to be like they don't know where they're going with the show.

TWD seems like one of best shows ever to me in beginning but everytime seems to get more and more boring , since "war" between people starts I'm not liking it that much , it makes you think zombies aren't a problem anymore!

I'm still watching it tbh and I also watch coz it's on Georgia and I see some places I've been to so this makes it more intresting, I'm on season 4 eps 12

I wonder if Hannibal and True Detective switched networks, people would be going nuts over Hannibal saying its the greatest thing ever and its so deep.

But since its on NBC is probably getting cancelled this season. While people freak out over True Detective, that does have a nice vibe, but it ain't that brilliant.

Actually both shows are nice, but lets not act like they have the greatest characters and dialogues ever, both are all about the vibe.

Well if the ratings are bad you can only blame the American TV watching audience, same as something like Almost Human, wife and I really like it but the ratings for that are not very good and unfortunately it's likely to get cancelled :(

The two first episodes of Hannibal season 2 are really great.
low rattings, this show too smart ? too aesthetic ? for American audience ? :CONFUSE:

Well nothing is certain right now, ratings are low and people are worried.
But this airs on the same channel that airs Community, if I'm not mistaken, and we all know if it wasn't the internet there would be no Community.
So maybe they realize the show is kinda of a big deal on the internet and outside the US. I would not be surprised if it both canceled or renewed.

People say we are in the golden era of TV, that its getting better than movies, but TV still doesn't know how to make Hollywood money.
Let's be honest, people outside US only contribute by signing cable, and those cables companies buy those shows, Netflix is the only easy and smart company on that market in my opinion.
I know several people in Brazil that are oblivious to the internet, but love Netflix and House of Cards.

I definitely don't understand american audience.

People going nuts and screaming GOAT to True Detective all over the internet.

I liked the show, but common, it was an okay story with an okay resolution.
That theory that everything today is either the best ever or pure crap is absolutely right, people go way overboard.
It was an interesting first season, but could be so much better if those nuts people were actually right.

I'll try True Detective since we dropped Person of Interest a month ago and have decided to drop Walking Dead as this season has been absolutely dreadful.

Never seen Hannibal. Boardwalk and Game of Thrones are the only shows that we look forward to watching as there is A LOT of crap on the tube.

in which season you dropped POI? because it's getting even better and better every season, the actual third season is just epic.

The Walking Dead, I agree, it's now droppable, character's development without good and solid story means nothing, and the show seems to be losing its way, sadly I can't drop it, I can't drop something I watched for 4 seasons :D.

Now that it's over, I loved True Detective. It's a great crime investigation/buddy movie with interesting characters and sets and some jawdropping scenes in the way.

It's the best show ever? Of course not. But it's exactly what I wanted from it and had a very good time watching it. Loved the music, the direction and the editing. Watched a couple episodes of Hannibal and didn't get into it that much, but will try from the start again some day.

Agreed that fans polarize things too much True Detective. But it's always been like that, I guess.

Now waiting for Game of thrones. This season many crazy things will happen...

Having read the books (like me), what do you think about the television adaptation of Game of Thrones, Alex ?
I watch it on DVD and am currently watching season 3, imo it is a stunningly good adaptation.

I enjoyed the first season of Hannibal, I've yet to pick up the second season, but will. I've watched 4 episodes of True Detective, I find it good, but not great. I guess after all the crazy hype, I was expecting so much more.........

I've just watched Stephen Merchant's Hello Ladies for the 3rd time, I love that first season. Absolutely hilarious.
