The TV Show Thread

After watching the final episodes of Breaking Bad, particularly this weeks - then watching Dexter, the difference is embarrassing.

They are petering Dexter out with seemingly little thought, very little payoff for the viewer. Anyone could have watched this final season of Dexter and followed it with little issues.

Breaking Bad has so much depth and payoff for fans and a really well thought out and planned ending.

I'm catching up with Dexter right now. Enjoyed it from the start but this last series isn't the best. Hope it picks up a bit towards the end.

As for Breaking Bad. Yesterday's episode was intense! Absolute loved it.

I won't spoil it, but don't hold out too much hope! They are not using the other characters at all really and there is a new character in to that could totally ruin the whole show IMO if it plays out like I suspect...

Yup, they should not be on the same day at all, heck they should not be on the same planet.

Its been a long time Dexter is bad though, I didn't even liked the Trinity Killer days, somehow they managed to ruin one of the greatest characters ever, Dexter himself I mean.
Even though Trinity and some killers been great, the guy that takes the shows name been making terrible decisions and completely changed his profile.
I know that's how Breaking Bad rolls, showing how a guy changed, but for Dexter it didn't seemed planned at all, its like he changed due laziness.

I'm wondering what line you are thinking it,
could spoil it for me please :) I bet your thinking is more creative than the writers

I'm just hoping the Sheriff dude doesnt catch Dexter as that would be an awful end - for Dexter to go free despite all his crimes for this long, only for a character who's been in it a couple of episodes to finally bring him down.

Thats what I mean about this season - there is no call back to other characters. I.e. would have been good this season if Quinn finally followed his hunches and was trying to catch Dexter out etc. Least the viewer has some vested interest in that.

Oh yes, that would be a very disappointing ending.
I did wanted Dexter to get caught or die, but like you said, by a character I can relate to. At this point I can't relate to anybody, not even Angel or Debra.
I was hoping this last season would be a manhunt, but unfortunately it didn't happened. With only one episode left, it probably won't either.
The two first season were great, but that was it, kinda of like Prison Break.

Yea I cant believe its the last episode this week - was very surprised as still seems so much to be resolved. Going to be a massive let down I know that much - will kind of just be a relief to be over now!

Whereas I know I'm gonna mourn Breaking Bad!!

Oh dear...... :(

Info in spoiler - dont know if its true as it hasnt been validated, but supposedly leaked from a studio exec...

Deb gets shot (by Saxon?) and eventually dies - but before she does, Quinn calls Dexter who is at the airport, to get to the hospital.

At the hospital, Quinn confesses to knowing Dexter is a serial killer and wants to carry on his 'work' starting with Saxon. Dexter agrees and gives him all the knives etc.

Meanwhile a typhoon in Miami stops Dexter leaving on the flight to Argentina - but also washes up loads of bodies that he'd put out to sea, re-opening the bay harbour butcher case (didnt that already happen before?!).

Quinn gets a spin off show about his serial killer exploits as he avenges Debs death. (dear god!)

I mean... WTF?! Probably a load of shite, but then again, it IS Dexter...

Just get it over, put it out of its misery and lets all move on!

Some awful bullshit that the writers pulled off this entire season, expected a good finale to save it all but got even worse. As if it wasn't enough that the episode felt completely disconnected in terms of montage, that "finale of the finale" and the "after-finale" completely butchered the entire 8 seasons of the show. It's just so pointless it's pathetic, considering everything that happened up until that point.

Honestly not gonna miss Dexter at all, he had his run and we had pretty much seen everything there was to see from him. Might miss Jennifer Carpenter's character though.

Did anybody catch Marvel's agent of shield? It was supposed to debut early this week.

Literally just finished watching it now. Very good, better than I expected actually.

Also helps that Chloe Bennet and Elizabeth Henstridge are part of the cast :D

Waiting till Friday to catch it on UK TV for once, double bill with the IT Crowd.

Other than the eye candy...(both female and SFX) i actually thought it was kinda poor. The dude playing the main agent (whatever the fuck his name is) has a bit too much of a cheap cable TV show air about him. Still, it has some potential so ill give it my usual 3 episodes or so dating phase before i commit to a serious relationship.

finally caught it. 1st episode was alright. 2nd was dreadful though. I`ll give it another two eps before I drop it.

The differences between Breaking Bad finale and Dexter finale were night and day.

Breaking Bad - You simply run out of superlatives to describe this amazing show. Received the fitting ending it deserved. :WORSHIP:

Dexter - Just awful. Really petered out after the 4th series but I kept on watching as a loyal Michael C. Hall fan :SMUG:

Also, very glad Person of Interest has returned. Coolest show ever and also now permanently features the very sexy Sarah Shahi. I hope Paige Turco returns as well ;)

Not too impressed with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to be honest. Find Chloe Bennett's character far too annoying and the whole thing just seems very flat and badly shot.

Glad to see the final series of The Mentalist back as well and the fact that its now just centred around Red John and Jane's attempt to finally catch him.

Watched the 1st few episodes of The Blacklist. Would definitely recommend...

See Homeland has returned to the screens too.

Will need to get back into that, although think I might watch it after Boardwalk and Walking Dead have been watched and will do in between times that Game of Thrones returns.

Germany debut for "Friends with Benefits" (the series, not the movie from some years ago) tonight, watched the first ten minutes of the first episode and was literally like "what the fuck" during that time. Anyone could tell me, if it is supposed to be funny to see young and rich or good earning fellas making out around all the time with themselves or strangers or did I miss the point of that?

And one point regarding the German dubbing: I clearly understand that we don't have that many professional voice actors here and it is hard to have Melissa (TAAHM), Penny (TBBT) and that blonde chick from 2 Broke Girls all getting dubbed by the same woman, but I can't follow a series, where one of the main actors, a big black one btw, sounds exactly like Howard Wolowitz!

Because there is no way to watch the original shows here. All German stations are logically just airing the dubbed versions and 99% of the American media databases like Hulu are blocked here. I know I could use proxies, but that amount of work isn't worth it for me. If it would be possible I'd clearly opt for the original series, the German dubs are good, but still they loose a lot of jokes in translation.

S-Nipe,

you could just download the episodes "illegally" :D
they're everywhere

and, I personnally can't watch anything dubbed, it kills the series or the movie. Even if the movie is Chinese, I would watched subbed.
Original voices and emotions are irreplaceable .. Movies and series are Image + Sound, watching them dubbed is like watching something else ..

Yeah I go the usenet+sickbeard way as I don't speak Swedish or have a Swedish TV ;) The alternative for online watching would be something like OpenDNS which will give you the appropriate IP for watching online (and doesn't require any work on your part once set in your network config), and for somewhere like Netflix you can choose which region you want to appear from: https://www.overplay.net/

Dude, doing illegal things is never an option for me.:TTTH:

Placebo's way seems more interesting, yet I don't need TV series that much that I couldn't wait for the blu-rays to be released.
