The TV Show Thread

Anyone watch strike back?

I don't venture in here too often hence the late reply(!)... but yes I watch it.

It's definitely a switch-your-brain-off, but it's quite enjoyable.
Has a few familiar faces in it as well.

Season 3 is due out soon. Well, it's actually season 4, as the original Season 1 was um, done away with after Sky & HBO joined up for it.

Just tried the PC version with my Swedish IP and it has English subtitles, will try on the PS3 later :)

I tried some other settings but nothing more worked for me, I can live through it.. for two reasons one I vaguely understand Spanish, Japanese is easy to gather the meaning after they show another scene and two
the Spanish have died anyway so that's one less to worry about

Also, I'm glad to see Luther back on.. new episode. Recorded for watching tomorrow..

Anyone else watched "Siberia"? I thought it was really well done and the characters developed well, albeit a bit cheesy at times. Definitely one I'll keep an eye on.

Watched first episode of Under the Dome last week.. I'm waiting for them to explain how the wind and rest of the weather keep functioning normally if this dome is supposedly so dense that even sounds don't penetrate it.

Been quite a while, but believe in the book that air and what not could get through, but anything much bigger couldn't.

Is the show any good? The book kind of went down 'typical Stephen King' road, if such a thing can exist.

Yeah in episode 2 they showed water can somehow seep through, thing is, that doesn't quite explain how it still manages to stop all sound, or perhaps I am not up to snuff on my physics here?

Anyhoo..first episode was OK..2nd episode went downhill fast. Hard to believe Spielberg's name is attached to this..some seriously poor acting, special effects, etc. Guess they were hoping for a relatively low budget hit with not much else on during the summer months. I'm going to give it one more episode to sway my opinion. If it's of similar quality as the 2nd, or worse, I'll find better things to spend my time :))

Havent started Under The Dome yet but blocking sound is very different to physical objects. If the dome had its own frequency it could let water and air through but block certain levels of sound.

Not sure we'll take to Graceland, too much frat and not enough cop IMO.

2nd Under The Dome was still decent.

Finished Orphan Black, superb show and not surprised she won an acting award for it.

Finally watched the first series of Broadchurch, had it on the Popcorn hour for a while and watched the first episode last night with the next 7 today one after the other, very impressive, excellent writing and acting, very much felt like a British variant of The Killing, looking forward to series 2.

Just started watching Ray Donovan. 2 episodes in. Liking what I'm seeing so far. Won't spoil for anyone :-)

Also watching the final series of Dexter. Sad that its coming to an end.

Just watched "Orange Is The New Black" episode one on Netflix. Pretty funny and will certainly watch the rest.

i watched 6 out of week end boredom. i thought it's waspy trash.
bad writing, bad acting, cliches everywhere.

EDIT:
i watched the remaning episodes, the whole thing seems to be written by 16 years old wasp with some lesbian obsession. i found most of the characters either annoying or simply too cliche'.

let's hope netflix will show the second series form house of cards.

Aint been in here for a while! :)

Really loving The Americans. Had me hooked from very early in the first episode. Great opening with the chase and the alternate scoring of Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk". Great choice of music and suited it well.

Just got better and better from there. Sure I'm behind everyone and its been discussed, but really recommend it.

Watched about 6 of Hannibal and gave up. Found it really poorly acted and it just put me off. Think the lack of swearing doesnt help - just in anything gritty like that, lack of swearing puts me right off as its not real.

Missus still watches and says its got better, but I'm probably not going to revisit.

Looking forward to starting S3 of the Killing on Netflix!

Hannibal is worth the watch imo, I thought it was pretty generic at first but the last 4,5 episodes really started to focus the story. Thought it was really good in the end. Just started The Americans, 4th episode, and am really enjoying it aswell.

The show originates from Denmark and the US have modified their take on it.

Ah yea, I knew that - watched the first 2 seasons of it and knew it was based on the Danish version. Just wondered specifically if S3 was a 'reboot' of itself?!

Well most of the characters/actors of the first two seasons are gone, the story is mostly brand new, don't want to give too many spoilers away of course, for me it's a reboot :)

Cool, thanks Paul - looking forward to getting back into it.

Due to a shortage of shows we started watching Magic City, very, very good show, enjoying it a lot, watched the first season and up to episode 4 of the second now, shame they're so short!

Good to see a lot of favs coming back in the coming month or two.

Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Walking Dead.

Top Boys on again soon

anyone watch this first lot? I enjoyed it with it being The Wire-esque.

Graceland just gets better with each episode. The start gave the impression it might be all nice and happy families, cheesy etc. But it's far from that now and well worth watching.

Damn :(

For anyone that watched Rizzoli & Isles this is shocking news :(

Rizzoli & Isles Star Lee Thompson Young Is Dead at 29

UPDATE: Young's publicist has confirmed that the actor took his own life. "It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning ... Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."

Interesting. I only watched the first episode and left it at that. It seemed okay but didn't get the feeling I had to watch more.

After watching the final episodes of Breaking Bad, particularly this weeks - then watching Dexter, the difference is embarrassing.

They are petering Dexter out with seemingly little thought, very little payoff for the viewer. Anyone could have watched this final season of Dexter and followed it with little issues.

Breaking Bad has so much depth and payoff for fans and a really well thought out and planned ending.
