The TV Show Thread

Yeah absolutely looking forward to The 'Red Wedding' at the twins.

Just wonder with 'A Storm of Swords' being split over two series, will this feature at the end of the current season...

*spoilers*

Next episode most likely I'd say (episode 29), just have to wait an extra week bc of Memorial Day here in the States.
The last 2 seasons the single last episode also had the most dramatic event (Ned/Blackwater Bay)so can't see this season being any different. Also have some faint ideas what the last episode will end with. Think this will end up being one of the craziest conclusions of a TV show's season yet.

Please delete the spoilers you put there Shak. People doesn't need to know anything of what's coming.

I'm a book-reader, so I know what will happen, but there's a lot of people here who didn't read the books.

Thanks Tom :)

I haven't read the books (nor watched any of Season3 yet) so want to avoid spoilers, because it's only 10 episodes we always let the whole season finish, watch the special features from the previous season then watch the whole season over one weekend, great experience that way :)

Yeah, no worries, I'm in the same boat. On the other hand, though, I've already forgotten what he spoiled exactly, so I'm pretty sure I won't be affected once I start reading the books and watching the series :D

Treme is excellent - I'm on the first series.

David Simon knows how to produce a TV show.

i'm not much of an expert on the subject, as i've only watched few tv series in my life, but i gotta say game of thrones got me really addicted :))

never trust Svetonio (aka Suetonius). He was never considered a reliable historian. even his contemporaries considered him a major bulshitter.
it's quite fun to read svetonio, but always keep in mind about 90% of what u're reading is bulshit (he's less reliable than the worst gossip tabloid u can buy nowadays). if u're looking for more reliable historians, then tacitus or sallustius are your men ;).

Just started watching Sons of Anarchy great show! I held off for so long as I have a great dislike for mysogonism and the way that women are treated by bilkers is especially vile but despite my misgivings it's an excellent series with some superb performances, up to 109 now.

Wife and I watched Rectify on Saturday (all 6 episodes) hugely impressive, acting and in particular the writing/shooting of the show was just incredible, movie quality.

I've watched about 6 episodes of SoA and really enjoying it.

Not watched Rectify yet but TV.com said it was one of the best shows of the year. Sounds like a bit of a heavy storyline though, one that you'd have to be in the right mood for.

Actually no it's really not heavy in a storyline sense at all, it's quite quirky in a way, not in any over the top sense, hard to describe TBH, just watch it!

In the comments for Rectify I saw people recommending Top of the Lake and Rogue so grabbed both of those as well, watched the first episode of Top of the Lake and really liked it, wife had a problem with the accents though, doesn't help it's a mix of Aussie/New Zealand and US accents!

It's worth watching Treme just for the music alone, so good! :)

Justified is brilliant, one of my favourite shows. The dialogue and chemistry between Raylan and Boyd is something I can't really remember being as good in any other show between two characters.

Not heard of "Top Of The Lake" so added that to my list too.

Anyone watching "The Fall" on BBC Two? I watched the first episode and it was interesting, albeit a bit slow.

I heard lots of good things about "The Fall".
It was reviewed in Belgian papers (although only broadcasted by the BBC) because the director is Belgian... He directed Code 37 (Belgian series) which was compared to the Wire, but that was utter bullshit...it was a very, very poor man's The Wire...

Gillian Anderson, yummy-yummy.

Sons of Anarchy is brilliant, absolute top drawer viewing.

As for Game of Thrones, I don't read the books, so not sure of the storyline, which I'm fine with, I prefer to just watch a show as opposed to reading/watching. Same with LOTR and The Hobbit for example. As said Littlefinger is just plain brilliant, although now I am starting to like Jamie Lannister too, him and the big girl were certainly a brilliant combo and saw a different side to the King Slayer.

Thanks for the recommendation, Wife and I watched the first 3 episodes and it's superb, Gillian is great in it.

Netflix US is doing well, has both The Fall and Top Of The Lake for streaming already.

Is anybody watching Hannibal by the way ? I'm really enjoying it so far, and I'm up to speed with Episode 10 now complete. As a huge fan of both Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon, this is a must-see.

I am. Only on UK timescale though so think episode 4 (maybe 5) on tonight. Enjoying it so at.

though i don't want to accept it, it is true;
conflicts, slaughters, tragedies, and so on...in the Game of Thrones.
they all came from Robert Baratheon's penis in the end.

you can agree after watching Season 1 again.
