The TV Show Thread

Anyone else watching Banshee? Such a great new series, episode before last was incredibly brutal, awesome stuff!

Very funny. I came to this topic to specifically recommend this show. It's fuckin' crazy. Glad to see I'm not the only one with a soft spot for extreme violence and boobies.

I decided to not watch anymore until season is over.
Seasons are too short :(.
Why cant it be 12/13 episodes like most mid season show ?

Really enjoyed the Banshee finale. Probably one of the stronger TV shows for a while really, seemed to get better with each episode.

The Asian guy cracks me up, hope he features more next season.

I didn't realise until last week about the mini-character snippets after the credits of each episode of Banshee, so I downloaded all 10 again, edited the snippets and then watched them with the wife, would have meant much more watching them after each episode obviously but there were a couple of key things raise:

After rescuing Hood in the motel it looks like Job kept the diamonds? And the real Hood had a son and the son discovered something's iffy by seeing fake Hood on youtube kicking MMA ass, that was after the last episode I think and sets things up for season 2?

We didn't like it personally. Story seemed a bit off and the acting was poor a lot of the time. Some people love it though.

That said, I'm enjoying the last season of Spartacus a bit more.

I'm enjoying this one a lot!!

"I Always Knew This Was Going To End Badly" to quote Joey Cape but damn, the last episode was touching! Manu Bennett who's having a helluva year totally owned the plot!

Yeah that was a good send off. Tiberius has become an even bigger antagonist than his greedy father. Can't see him surviving the next two episodes though.

Oh Tibby 'The Terrible'! Even Jupiter's anus isn't safe at this stage! Building up so much hate for him, they must have an epic ending planned for this boy! After all, he's a fictional character so he's pretty much expendable and won't affect a possible Caesar spin-off. Taking bets on who kills Tibby. Naevia (boring actress, I like the first one better)? Kore (bold move girl! I'm not sure if you did the right thing leaving Crassus to join the rebels)? Caesar himself (yep, he can't ride a horse )?

Talking about Caesar, he's a different Gaius Julius Caesar, to be honest he looks like Aquiles or something! :P Anyway, I like him somehow. Todd Lasance is a great actor so I guess it won't be that hard to root for him in an hypothetical spin-off.

Lol Tibby. Not sure who will deliver the death blow. Maybe a Roman when Spartacus forces them to fight. Kid is a good actor and solid in his role. His feud with Caesar was one of the highlights of the season. That said, Caesar has been a puss this season. Getting his butt kicked and raped.

Just finished watching the first season of Banshee after seeing you folks talk about it..maybe I'm spoiled with the availability of so many great TV shows ATM but I wasn't very impressed with it at all. Kept watching in the hopes it would get better but I can't see myself tuning in for the next season.

The last season of Spartacus however is/was fantastic. IMHO the order of seasons based on quality is 1/4/2(prequel)/ and season 3 at a distant last. I'm sorry but that season sucked ass..almost gave up hope season 4 would be better but it exceeded my expectations.

Ya season 3 was nothing to write home about. As great as season 1 is I think 4 has the potential to equal it. All depends on these last two episodes and if they stick with historical events.

Yeah wonder what direction they ll go with it.. So far they are going with the more modern belief that Crixus and Spartacus indeed split ways, if that also means Spartacus himself survived or falls in battle ( like the more traditional belief) remains to be seen. Wouldn't surprise me if they ll go with some type of hybrid.

Wouldn't mind if they keep the actors for Crassus and Julius and continue the story about the forming of the triumvirate... Though that might encroach too much on the Rome series.

Good old Rome. That was a great series. Also, about Spartacus. I'm fine with them raping Caesar even though a lot of people aren't. However, if you're going rape the dude at least stick to Roman principles. The rape of a Roman by another Roman was considered to be deplorable. Crassus and his family would have lost their social status and a majority of their properties if such an act occurred.

i liked rome, i can't stand spartacus.

anyway just watched a couple of episodes of a new one called "vikings". not too impressed, production wise is fairly cheap and the script is full of characters stereotypes.

I thought the 1st episode of Vikings was boring. However, my brother has seen all four eps so far. I guess eps 2,3 and 4 are quality so I'm going to give it a chance. No biggie if its dire as game of thrones starts soon.

i watched the other episodes, i can confirm that story and characters are uninspired to say the least, production wise is ur average cheap effort with some bad computer graphic here and there. Acting is fairly bad (especially the main female protagonist) and attention to historic details non existent. only valuable thing is that the subject is something different from the usual roman stuff. But overall very very mediocre.

Haven't seen Spartacus, but I'm a history lover and I can tell you there were widely spread rumours that Cesar was raped and then turned into lover of some pirates that captured him when he was young.

Even his most loyal soldiers were chanting a fun song about it during his triumph at Rome. But clearly a roman raping another roman would have been a terrible thing, unless the raped was of a clearly lower class than the raper and the raped didn't put a legal threat. Go figure...

IMO, this season has already surpassed season 1. TBH, I didn't like season 1 that much until the episode in which Batiatus ordered the other guy to kill Spartacus' wife. It got a major boost ever since.

The prequel was glorious! Heck, that Gannicus bloke is a handsome bastard!

"To what end?" :P

Caesar probably didn't want that kind of publicity so we're better off forgetting past transgressions.

The Lives of the Twelve Caesars By C. Suetonius Tranquillus

Julius Caesar was quite a naughty boy, having affairs with men and women both. Nicomedes IV, also known as Nicomedes Philopator, king of Bithynia was one of his most famous affairs. Apparently, from the soldiers' bawdy song in his Triumph, he was a "catcher" with Nic, and not a "pitcher". So the precedent is there. As matter of fact, some political opponents of Caesar referred to him as the queen of Bythnia.

In other news, I think I'll give "The Bible" a chance. Main character is a Portuguese actor did you know?

the last episode of the americans was pretty good. probably my fav episode so far.

Really struggling with "The Following", it kinda feels like amateur writing hour. And then you watch "Hannibal" and it feels even worse.

The following is facking terrible dude. I shut that show down after the 3rd episode. Simply awful.

Still wonder who here in the US decided it was a good idea to put The Walking Dead season finale on at the same time as the first episode of the new season of Game of Thrones. If I had to guess it probably hurt TWD more because anyone with half a brain probably DVR-ed that shit so they could skip through all the commercials.

Thought TWD season 3 had its moments but overall was quite weak imho. Hope we'll get a bit more story in season 4.

No other show matters at this point though now that GoT is back on...E2S3 tonight..can't wait! E1S3 was much better paced than the first episode of Season 2. The production value of this show is bar none. Lots of new characters will be introduced again this season..and from what little I know about what's coming this season I would say folks will be in for some major shockers again.

Walking Dead season 3 was just okay. Defn a step down from season 1 and 2. The Gov should have been more ruthless.
