The TV Show Thread

I'm looking forward to watching it on Friday.

Although I do agree with you a bit, don't want it lasting for as long as they can get out it, give it another 1 or 2 seasons and then give us a finale.

I thought the last episode ended brilliantly, very emotionally involving.

Second series of Spartacus has been really poor so far. The new guy just cannot live up to andy yet and there are too many decent sub characters gone to make the story interesting.

Gone from an 8/10 show for me to a 3/10 :(

Its like they currently have no clue where the story is going to go so have just thrown in more sex and blood to make up for it
 
Really enjoyed Awake. Some very good acting.

Eastbound & Down S3 was very amusing, as always.

Great sketch. Shows why piracy is so big, to a point. When content is more easily available and cheap enough, piracy does drop. But when you just can't get access to a show legally, things like that are bound to happen. And it's their own fault.

That logic makes pretty much no sense whatsoever.

A more relevant (but still shite) analogy would be to assume that all petrol stations had closed (making a parralel to Game of Thrones being unavailable legally) and the only way to obtain petrol being by siphoning other vehicles (aka piracy).

This theory falls flat on it's face though because of the fact that digital downloads are non-diminishable, non-physical things whereas petrol (or another object/material you may want to use in an analogy) is a finite resource with a fluctuating prices based on supply, thus being directly affected by theft.

The demand for digital downloads isn't as black and white as some people like to think - a pirate copy downloaded is rarely a lost sale, in fact piracy can act as a type of marketing that can promote future purchases.

I know many people who have pirated series of TV shows or movies, only then to go and buy the Blu-Ray boxsets because they enjoyed it.
Also, it's quite common for people to pirate music and then buy tickets and merchandise of those artists, or play pirated games and proceed to buy it to unlock all of the features (i.e. online).

I'm not condoning piracy, it's still a crime - I just don't like it when people make sweeping statements completely dismissing it as "wrong" without understanding or taking into account the economics or practicalities of it.
 
Also a TV series, if it was on TV then you could have just recorded it. So downloading it, I don't think is that big a deal. Movies on the other hand I can understand more. But as was mentioned, usually if people like the film they like to have the physical copy and have all of the extras the DVD/blu ray offers.

Living in Israel now you see that alot of people pirate music and films etc as the wages here are so shit. But they pay alot for concerts and other merchandise when the artist comes to perform here.

It isn't as black and white. but it is still illegal obviously.
 
Just got around to watching the Awake pilot, really enjoyable and really well done. With Awake and Touch, there's going to be some great TV to come hopefully.
 
So they missed out showing episode 8 of Alcatraz last week and to make up for it this week they show episodes 9 and 10 and are showing ep 8 next week, makes perfect sense...
 
Oh dear never knwe about Terra Nova. Can't say I was enthralled by it, but I hate watching something that just dies of death, seriously they ought to write up soem sort of 2 part finale or something for each season that it gets, so that in case it get's cut then at least they can throw it in.

Looking forward to Game of Thrones which starts in the next few weeks.

Enjoying still watching The Shield, onto Season 4 and am watching The Walking Dead that is still going well for me.
