The TV Show Thread

Amazing Episode 5 for Game of Thrones, indeed. Now that the necessary introductions have been conducted, the plot begins to spin and spin...

I think it's a unique show, that doens't follow any convention. And probably the best book-->tv/film adaptation I can think of. I'm absolutely mesmerized with everything about it.

I have no doubt the it will be rising up every week and by the end of the season lots of viewers will end up buying the books. Who will want to wait 1 year after the end of episode 10?

The first two books are in the New York Times bestsellers this month, I think it's already catching on.

I was sucked in. Bought game of thrones the other week. Really want to get reading it. Must stop taking the iPad to bed and read instead!!

Oh and waterstones were doing 3 for 2 on all fire and ice books, so I may go back and get the next 3. And if you pre order the next book, you get it half price.

Anyway, the tv show is sooooo great. We have a little ritual now where we get a couple of friends round and all watch it on the Tuesday on sky plus. Lots of "oooohs" and "aaaahs" this week.

Could quickly become one of the best tv shows of all time. Shame it's only 10 parts, but least they have commissioned a new series which I guess will be the 2nd book?

What's the quality like of the books dags, does it stay this good?

Pb, I've only read the first two books and they're incredible, there's so much to come still. Going to make a start on the third book once I finish the book I'm reading now. As good as the TV show is, the books are better.

Jim, I watched Sunny a while ago and enjoyed it, girlfriend thought it was alright but wasn't grabbed by it but I'll get it again and give it a play again.

Just watched Castle with the Nikki Heat actress, very good and funny, basically all that is good about the show.

In my oppinion, the 3rd book is the best of the series with the first one pretty close to it. The 2nd is also superb, though at times the author has the need to "build up" things and may drag a little in certain specific points. But, honestly, 90% of the chapters are great and you can't stop reading.

The 4th book is a bit different. It's not a bad book at all, and important things happen. But it's... "different", to say something, and invest 50% of the book in building future plots. The last third of the 4th book is great again, and the 5th book will be great again for all I know, specially for things that should happen... or not.

The series is staying very faithful to the books, but I would recommaned people to read the books if they like the TV show. And, at least, make it to the third book. Some of the things that happen there are... very very intense.

Long time I dont stop by, I'm trying to avoid reading Game of Thrones stuff :P Maybe they deserve their own thread?

But lets go to what matters,
Chuck
Meh I dont know, I think this show is getting too ridiculous for me to handle, the storylines are so lazy now, can't believe this got renewed, I'll keep watchin in consideration for the characters, kinda of like what happened to Prison Break, which had a good last season, so who knows.

Hawaii Five-O
The finale was immense, love this show, if you like action you gotta watch this asap, there are some filler episodes, but overrall its a great show.

I havent read a single book since HP7 part 1 years ago !
So I just bought all books, planning to watch the show during summer.
3500 pages, this is exactly what I need to enjoy reading again.

Very impressed with how this season of Nikita finished, the last three episodes were superb!

Game of Thrones is probably the best TV I've watched, and this is from a non-reader of the books!

The guy who plays Tyrion steals the show, great actor.

Can't believe I cocked up my order for book 4 and sent it to my old address and now have to wait another week til I can get it!

It's crazy how you can write some books, then they don't get really noticed until years later. Suddenly you have a tv series and your books selling by the boatload!

I had a friend advising me to read the books back in the 2000s... I didn't do it until 3 years ago and then I was shocked. I lended the books to some friends that were reluctant as me until they got sucked in. But with the TV series, a lot of people that would never read them will do. The power of TV should never be underrated...

I'll have to wait a little longer for the spanish version of the 5th book (possibly some months). You're lucky to read it on july-august. I'll have to skip any forum related to the book/series until I read it!

Couldn't you just get the English version? You have an excellent grasp of English anyway!

tried, but the vocabulary is too advanced for me to enjoy it completely. Specially when it comes down to names of food, tools or things from the middle earth. I would be checking the dictionary all the time. Plus, once you begin to read something like this in a language, it's hard to change. Notice also that a lot of names are changed in the Spanish version, and when you have read 3000 pages in a language, it feels very weird to change.

The funny thing is, my wife is also a fan of the books, so the day it comes out we will have to buy 2 books! It will be like a competition, both in the couch reading and watching each other now and then as if saying "have you read what I just read?".

Justified - S2

The climax during the last episodes was unreal.
Best TV show I've watch this year.

Game of Thrones - Episode 6
Amazing again. The show has rocketed. One hour that goes like a whisper. Incredible performances, ambience... and the bits of action are quite visual this time. I can't stress how much I like it!

I can't comment much because I won't spoil anything. But the situation begins to be quite complicated for all the players of the game of thrones. It's time to quickly move pieces...

I love mondays!!

Anyone watched Game of thrones #7 and has NOT read the books? What do you think of it? What are you expecting to happen?

I'm just curious. I loved the last 2 episodes, I was excited even if I knew what was going to happen. The series is peeking and I wonder how what's going to happen is depicted.

Oh, and always vote for Carcetti!

I haven't read any books and I watched episodes in a row, catching up with the latest last night.
But to be honest I don't understand your question.
I mean how can I expect anything to happen in that show :P
Everything is so unexpected, I don't think I've ever seen a show that the plot goes so quickly, one minute theres a story the other boom is over like a blink of an eye, but in a good way.
Thats what I'm liking about it, no BS.

I remember Drekkard (i think) saying that the story is done in such a way that you just don't know if anyone is safe and anyone can die at any point.

Having read the first two books, it's fun coming into work and discussing what he thought of the show and how he thinks it's going to pan out.
